24. ‘Drink Vinegar’

This damn woman. What time was it now that she merely knew being jealous? Why was she on close terms with the wild man coming out of nowhere? Did she remember she was his princess?

Yuxing Tianrui lay on bed and snorted, increasingly finding Du Chuxuan was too unruly to do such a thing. He was kind enough not to have her dragged out and harshly punished.

Meanwhile, Du Chuxuan didn’t care what drama was playing in Yuxing Tianrui’s mind. He walked out of the tent and found Dongxiang standing there with a horrified face. Du Chuxuan cracked a huge smile, “Dongxiang, you’re on duty today, right?”

Dongxiang nodded heavily. He didn’t know why the Crown Princess asked but his intuition told him that it couldn’t be a good thing. Sure enough, on the next second, he heard her joyful voice, “If this is the case, I shouldn’t take the credit from you. Guard well. I’m going to take a rest.”

Then, he swaggered back to his own tent. Since the tent belonged to him, it looked nice and comfortable in every way. Even if the provision official had given him a grass shed, Du Chuxuan would also be very happy to sleep in, as long as he got rid of Yuxing Tianrui.

Sure nobody was outside, Du Chuxuan tied the tent curtains from inside and desperately took off all his clothes. It had been long since he was this comfortable and relaxed. He felt he was flying.

He turned and saw the neatly made bed and leaped onto it, rubbing himself against the quilt and almost shouting out of joy.

Was this a life for human? No! This was the life for gods! If he could go back to who he used to be, he wouldn’t complain at all even if it meant to work his head off for Yuxing Tianrui.

Here, Du Chuxuan fell into sweet sleep. However, His Highness, already accustomed to sleeping with another person, was anything but comfortable to sleep alone in the cold bed.

He wanted to talk to her but knew she was still angry. If he surrendered so soon, wouldn’t he be pushed around by that woman every time? He warned himself, fighting back his impulse, and closed his eyes, pretending to sleep happily.

Ada, who was supposed to be in the toilet, stood in the dark and for a time, didn’t know what to comment. ‘Your Highness, this is a wrong way to coax your wifey. Something will happen sooner or later in this way.’

On the next day, the news that His and Her Highness slept in separate tents was known to everyone. However, everybody praised Her Highness as a sensible woman who sacrificed her comfortable life to help His Highness get prepared for the upcoming battle.

Therefore, they could understand why His Highness wore a frosty face in these days. They did, but the Turks didn’t.

Although on that day, it was Yuxing Tianrui who had set up the trap against the Turks and rooted out many spies in one swing, after all it was Shenglan who launched it, which gave the Turks an excuse to fight back.

Yuxing Tiarnui wasn’t a coward. Learning the news, he immediately deployed troops and changed on his armor, poised to go to the battle.

Du Chuxuan concentrated on himself and followed quietly behind him as a close guard, feeling this battle wouldn’t need his part.

The past few days were okay, because the two sides merely shouted at each other and sent out generals to fight one on one. It was something like a match between masters that didn’t aim at killing.

However, with time, even a man sloppy as Du Chuxuan could sense the subtle undercurrent on the battlefield. It got on the nerves of everyone and seemed to test out how long they could resist.

Yuxing Tianrui didn’t seem to be aware of it. This day, as the two sides confronted, he glanced over and finally rested his eyes on General Leng. Yet, the enemy sent out a deputy general, so it was improper for him to dispatch a general. Naturally, his eyes shifted onto Yang Guang.

“Since they sent out a deputy general, would you like to accept the challenge, General Yang?” This fight would be a mere appetizer for both sides to test out each other’s strength.

Over the past few days of such fights, the two sides ended generally in a draw. To this point, as the air was tensing, if Yang Guang lost this one, Shenglan’s morale would be harmed.

Yang Guang felt shivers of scare in his scalp. If others didn’t, he knew the best what kind of person the enemy was—a famous man with terrifyingly enormous power, though he was a deputy general.

He was a great fighter using intimidatingly broad axes. Heaven knew how many heroes had died under his axes.

Not to mention Yang Guang, even General Leng wouldn’t have the confidence to draw a tie with the man. At this moment, Yang Guang was distressed. If he flinched now, he wouldn’t have any say in the army in the future.

Du Chuxuan had no idea why the man was being hesitant, yet he wasn’t a nosy person to care either. He was happy to see a scene like this when someone was willing to offer a free performance.

Should the Turkish deputy general know that he was of this nature, he would have spitted out a mouthful of blood immediately. As Yang Guang spurred the horse to come forward, he took a brief glance back at their commander.

The movement finished in a blink secretly, and none of the people on this side noticed it. He made it like circling in the same place to control his horse.

When he looked back again, there was a trace of arrogance in his eyes gazing at Yang Guang, “Wow, what a weak child walking to me. When I started fight on the battlefield, you boy still peed into earth and played with it somewhere!”

Hearing his words, the Turks all burst out laughing. Their clothes were a little exposed, and as they laughed hard, their whole chest muscles were shaking together.

Du Chuxuan was stunned for a moment. If one of them was right before him, he would probably want to reach out to check whether they were real. ‘Oh my. Seriously? The muscles are simply too big.’

Yuxing Tianrui caught Du Chuxuan’s eyes full of desire as soon as he turned back. Instantly, he pissed off and shouted to Yang Guang, “General Yang, let’s beat the crap out of him!”

This was no other than a military order on Yang Guang, but on the words, all Shenglan generals and soldiers raised their arms and cheered, “Go Shenglan! Go!” At a time, people were in high spirits.

Yang Guang’s face paled a little. He had reached near to the Turkish deputy general but suddenly saw him send over a look. He got that at once.
