(Epilogue Chappie 7.2)

The two did not stay in the city all the time.

Truth be told, their lives were happier in the country. There were many more people in the city, and Song Qinghan’s parents had a lot of neighbours who were eyeing Song Jinhuai’s status.

But in the village, they could let the Su family deal with the stuff they didn’t want to handle. They only had to worry about their own family and live their days happily.

So the two returned to the village after a week.

During this week, Su Jiaojiao would also secretly go out to buy all kinds of things. Many things in the city were hard to find in the village, and it wouldn’t be as easy to return to the city after this.

Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan had registered permanent residences transferred to the city due to their unique circumstances, but they were also registered permanent residents in the village. This was a loophole they were able to exploit.

Although the people in the village are curious why they didn’t really leave, Song Qinghan and Su Jiaojiao grew up here, so no one asked too much about it. After all, Song Qinghan’s parents lived in the city and seemed to be fairly wealthy; it’d be better to coexist peacefully with them.

Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan went to the city more frequently than anyone else, and the villagers often asked them to help them buy things there.

However, Su Jiaojiao didn’t accept every request. She could help them buy stuff from the city, but only if it wasn’t too big, or could be easily found in the village or province. She’d also need them to pay a transport fee if the item was too pricey.

Some people were dissatisfied, but it was useless. After all, who would want to work for nothing?

And as this transport fee is not small, many people choose to give up. Some people spoke a few choice words behind their back, but Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan pretended not to hear them. They didn’t want extra trouble, after all.

The two were living easy lives. However, the Su family wasn’t.

The first day after they returned, Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan decisively refused a wave of people’s requests to buy goods. That night, several groups of villagers came to the Su family and complained about Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan.

Sun Fang didn’t want to scold them since they’d just returned from the city.

But the next day, there was another wave of people who were more vocal about their complaints. Sun Fang felt a little embarrassed. But it was already time for dinner, so she decided to tell them off the next day.

The third day after they returned, Dabao came over and asked the two of them to go to lunch.

As they didn’t have to cook, the two left at eleven.

Before sitting down, Sun Fang took her daughter and asked, “I heard many people asked you to help them buy things, but you didn’t agree?”

Song Qinghan was about to speak, but Su Jiaojiao secretly stopped him. She pouted and said, “Mom, why should I agree? It’s fine if they were just asking to help them buy things like lipstick. But they asked us to help them buy large objects. Every time we come back, we always have a lot of stuff. How would we have the energy to take these with us too. Moreover, these can be bought in the province, just at a slightly higher price.”

Sun Fang couldn’t bear to lecture her daughter. Hearing the words, she said, “A little more expensive? A few cents is still money! Not to mention that the difference in shoes can be up to a few dollars!” [1]

Su Jiaojiao said, “Mom, if I helped one person with this, then everyone would ask for help. It’s better just to refuse to help anyone.”

“But you still have to help a few people you’re on good terms with, don’t you?” Sun Fang softly said, “How would you have friendly relationships with others otherwise?”

Su Jiaojiao smiled and said, “I’m already giving my fourth aunt reduced rates. How could I not earn anything after going a long way?” [2]

Sun Fang laughed a little angrily when she heard her words, “So that’s why she was implying you’re a bad person. Our two families are related to each other, and the relationship between Qinghan and Daniu is also pretty good. Why are you asking them for transport fees?”

Su Jiaojiao pursed her lips and smiled, “Why not? Besides, she wanted us to help her buy a radio because her younger son wanted it. Because Qinghan has a good relationship with Daniu, I have to make her pay the transport fee. Otherwise, wouldn’t he be hurt?” [3]

Sun Fang gave her a weird look, thought about it, and whispered, “You have a point.”

Armos D. Platypus: Ok, so we (thankfully) see Sun Fang and Su Zhengyang again.

[1] Bargain hunting is also very fun.

[2] But earning money is even more fun. Also, who’s this fourth aunt?

[3] So this fourth aunt is on bad terms with Daniu huh.
