Chapter 84: Benji is still greedy

Jin had sat down, talking to Ashton on one of the couches. Sylvia was on the front porch, it was unbeknown to them what she was doing out there, but they hadn't bothered checking.

They were far too engrossed in their own conversation. Ashton was spending some time with Jin—who he believed was different for three days. But was it truly a whole three days?

Jin wrapped an arm around the back of Ashton's neck, and sat closely to him. Ashton looked at him from the corner of his eyes, and said, "It's good to have you back. Even if it's for such a short period of time."

Jin plastered a smile on his countenance. And when Ashton looked away, the smile suddenly fell. "Yeah, it's good to be back," he said, drooping his eyelids.

Ashton looked at him again, and uttered, "Jin, let's get dinner or something later today, okay? Is that okay with you?"

Jin smiled. "Yeah, it is. We'll go get some Chinese. Dobby is the Chinese food guy, but he's not here. Then again, he's not quite fond of me anymore."

Ashton looked at him. "You're wrong. He still likes you as the friend you are to him. But he … he doesn't like what you've … become. I don't either."

Jin averted his eyes. "Who exactly," he looked down at the floor, releasing Ashton. "Who exactly did I become? What do you guys see me as nowadays?"

Ashton felt a surge of uneasiness. He furrowed his brows, and said, "A monster … being born …"

Jin's lips parted, and he quickly peered at Ashton. "A monster? What do mean by that? I feel the same way to me. What are you talking about?"

Ashton heaved. "We know you've been through a lot. And considering what Tristan said about your system, I think it might be impossible to get rid of it now.

"I still wish you try getting rid of it. It might be changing you. Your experiences, like betrayal for example, are also changing you. You're developing new ways. Ways I don't fully understand. I wish things were exactly how they were in the past. Even Dobby's changed," he frowned, "Tristan is spending some time with him for a bit. I just wish I could go back. When all of this didn't happen."

Jin placed a hand upon Ashton's back. Ashton looked at him as he plastered another smile. Ashton could tell that his smiles weren't as bright as they were in the past. But he felt as though he could still feel that Jin was a bit like his old self. So, he smiled back.

"You have three days. Three days to talk to someone of the past. Three days and three days alone. I'd suggest you use them wisely, given that you might never see me like this again, unless a red healstone is used on me again."

The last sentence gave Ashton hope. The healstones were all that were on his mind. He looked away, plans brewing up his mind.

"You don't have to worry either. Maybe I'll stay my old self forever. What if the healstone completely heals mental problems like narcissism, just as it completely heals the body. I'm better now, Ashton." He stood, and started toward his door.

He looked back at Ashton again, as he heard a strange system sound in his ears. When suddenly, a screen appeared in front of his face.

[Effect: Deceptive Delusion]

He was shocked for a while. How did the very skill he's used on his grandma get activated again? It was after all an active skill. He shouldn't have told Ashton's those pretentious words. He shouldn't have made Ashton believe that he was better.

He turned around again, and walked away. Ashton was now under his spell. The spell had that costed him his rather small family.

Jin had entered his bedroom, only to see four human vessels on the floor. He gasped, and quickly closed the door shut; lest someone came walking in after him.

[Benji defeats 4 foes: + 4 Exp]

[Exp: 47 / 60 | Level 8]

'I get Exp when Benji defeats someone?' Jin asked himself, peering at Benji who had been chewing on the flesh of the vessels.

Jin screwed his face at the atrocity. Benji relentlessly chewed on the vessel's body; shredding its flesh apart, and swallowing.

Jin had finally decided to scold it for its actions. "Benji? What in the hell are you doing? Did you go seeking these bodies in broad daylight?" he folded his arms.

Benji quickly stopped eating the bodies, and turned to Jin, blood running down its mouth. It looked up at him with its eyes, but kept its head low as if to bow in guilt.

"If you wanted something to eat, you could've told me," Jin said, "how'd you even get out of this room? And how did you come back unspotted?"

To answer the first question, Benji teleported next to the bed, and then teleported back to its initial position. Then for the second question, Benji suddenly began to twist and bend. Its bones crackled as its body parts became distorted. Human-like skin began to grow on its body.

Within seconds, Jin was looking at a human, dressed in Janitor clothes. The only thing it kept was its green eyes. Jin was at a lost for words for a while. 'Shapeshifting,' he thought to himself. Really? Did he really just witness that?

Jin's mouth quivered to a smirk. "You damn sneaky bastard. How'd you get so smart? You're smart now, huh? But," Jin looked down at the four human bodies again, "looking at the amount of food you've got on your plate, I take it that you're still as greedy as before. Maybe worse, who knows?

"Congratulations, you're the world's most powerful dog now. And if I continue to get powerful—it looks like you would too."

The Janitor peered at Jin in the eyes, and then quickly rushed toward him. Jin flinched, blocking his face. But then he began to feel something wet passing against his face.

When he opened his eyes, he realized it was the Janitor—licking him like the dog he truly was. Seconds later, Jin had collapsed with the man, who was taller than him, and continued to deeply laugh relentlessly as he received constant, tickling licks.

"Ewww, Benji! Stop! C'mon, stop it!"

"You were eating people with that mouth!"
