Chapter 174: The One True Apocalypse Part 2

As the dark storms of the misty sky waged—amidst a clear rocky plain of no grass, no concrete except the remnants of such—lingered two figures, standing opposite each other. A fight was on the horizon. And this horizon was very, very close.

Jin deliberately got himself into a battle against one of the creatures, who was at his level of power. And he didn't do it to protect the person from it; he did what he had for the sake of challenging himself—killing the boredom he felt for so long. Now, Jin did not know much about these creatures by any means. And this was clearly the problem here.

These creatures were supposed to postpone their invasion of the Earth as per Hel's commands, but some rebelled and opposed Hel. These creatures were soldiers. They were called simply called 'Voids' by the people of the demon continent.

Jin didn't know any of this.

Yet, He stood with confidence; striking a pose that proved his powerful alacrity true. He was starting to get a bit more reckless. He scoffed. But he only got reckless in times of desperation; in times where boredom pulled on his guts like chains. He did anything to sate his bloodlust.

The strange creature started toward him. It possessed boulder-like shoulders, and a tall, lean body; form narrower the further away you looked from its shoulder. All of this was protected by a hard, sturdy shell, black in color, retaining a glossiness to its material like a scorpion's shell. Its sword—lingering in the scabbard on its back—was also made of the same glossy, material. This sword was no ordinary one. It was the length of three slender arms together; roughly the height of Jin.

As the creature reached for its sword; Jin did not retreat but instead charged, teleporting to the creature and slashing at its head. The Void's head jolted from the dagger clashing into its hard helmet. It finished drawing its sword; yanking its giant blade from its back. It was forced to use both arms to wield the massive beast of a sword.

Jin slashed at its head again. The dagger crashed into the Void's head but did no damage, merely amounting to a clashing metallic sound to which Jin cringed, cursing.  Jin knew that there was no way the creature would be able to swing that long, heavy thing when the target was so close. If one was to attempt hitting a target with an insanely long iron pole when the said target was too close, difficulties would be inevitable.

Jin kept slashing at the Void. Then suddenly, it started raising its massive sword while receiving hits constant hits. Jin was forced to sidestep the rising weapon. But this was a mistake. The Void was able to get its sword above its head. Jin furrowed his brows. Normal slashes weren't working against this enemy. He quickly looked at the system screen that had lingered in his face for quite some time now.

The creature suddenly swooped the huge sword downward at Jin with intense speed. Jin had barely gotten away, teleporting behind the Void. He slashed at it. Then again. Again.

He scoffed as the Void pivoted on his feet, rotating its hips as it brought its gigantic sword toward Jin. Jin quickly ducked. Then, he straightened his body again, slashing at the Void a couple of times.

The Void's body went pivoting in the direction it swung the heavy sword. When suddenly, the Void used might stop the sword from flinging its body right, swinging left at Jin. Jin saw it coming from the corner of his eyes. He scoffed. The creature was skilled. He quickly teleported behind the Void again. The Void slashed at air, letting mass move its body due left.

Jin slashed at the Void's back. The Void's body only moved a mild bit upon each blow. Jin started slashing faster as the Void got ready to slash its blade at him again.

The Void's sword came bolting toward Jin; yet Jin remained in the spot, constantly slashing at the turning creature. He furrowed his brows, sweat trickling down his forehead. 'Come on,' he thought, "come on, come on, weapon special attack! Come on ..."

When the sword was about a hair's breadth away from him, he vanished reappearing behind the creature. The Void slashed at nothing but air again. But it didn't feel bad about it at all. Voids felt only nothingness.

What Jin felt was solely desperation.

The Void pivoted on its feet again; slashing its blade at Jin while turning around.

[Weapon special attack upon next blow]

Jin vanished just before the blade cut him. He reappeared about twenty meters in the air, smirking, eyes glowing.

'The poisoning one didn't do anything to him ...'

Jin came falling from the sky.

However, the creature could not even wait for Jin to reach the ground again. It looked up in the air, then down at the floor. It bent its knees and burst up into the sky with a leap that caused many faults in the ground underfoot. As it bolted toward Jin; it got ready to slash its sword.

Jin went soaring through the air toward the charging Void. His smirk grew into a grin after he had acknowledged the Void's choice of action.

Jin and the Void neared each other. The Void did not waste any time. It quickly slashed when close enough to, disrupting air in the process. A shockwave ensued. However, the only thing it had cut through was thin air, for Jin had suddenly disappeared.

Smirking, Jin reappeared on the surface again, standing directly below the Void, who came falling down toward the surface. The Void fell stagnantly. It took longer to fall than Jin; provided how heavy it was with the armor. It slowly spun in the air as it fell.  It zoomed down toward the surface ...

Casting a shadow over Jin as it neared. Jin timed it. He waited for the perfect moment to strike. And then, he closed his hand, squeezing his fingers in tightly. His danger manifested in his hand; as he whipped it out, a contrail following. Slightly bending his knees, he gashed the blade into the falling creature.

The blow hit the back of the Void's body. There was a massive explosion of stark green. It shook the area. Black glossy pieces of material went pitching in all directions. The Void jolted. It was knocked a bit back into the air but ultimately fell to its back again. It suddenly bolted upright after bouncing from the impact of the fall. Then, it stood.

Jin reappeared a few meters away from it. He scoffed. `

Its armor was cracked mostly at the back where the hit was received. This sturdy armor was finally falling apart little by little; minuscule dark, crying creatures escaping the faults and gaps in the enigmatic armor like little spirits, amorphous in form. The Void suddenly reached for its own back. It was not reaching for its scabbard but its hinge; the one that kept the armor on. It unhinged the armor and dropped it to the floor. When the armor had reached the floor, it shriveled and then turned into black smoke.

The Void raised its hand, and its sword, which was stuck in some random part of the floor, went bolting toward it. Its fingers quickly clutched to the handle. When the armor was removed, the Void appeared three times smaller in size and weight. Though, its sword was still massive. Suddenly, the sword started to decrease in size.

It slowly became a sword; merely two times longer than Jin's dagger. The creature quickly lowered its compressed weapon to its side; and started toward Jin. Even its gait was significantly faster.

Jin yawned; keeping his hands in the kangaroo pockets of his jacket. "I thought you guys were supposed to be tough. Yeah, you're totally out of my league, pal."

The Void spoke. "Losing will be of no good use to my comrades. I must win this battle."

Jin snorted. "Come back again when you can land a single hit on me."

And exactly that it was about to do.
