Chapter 128: Introduction New World (7)

Noah and Rosa had just left the house, leaving Dianne alone in it. They would usually do this every day. They both walked in front of the yard, crossed the road, and awaited the two figures walking down toward them. Noah stood next to his grandma. He looked up at her. She looked down at him, closed her eyes and smiled. Then, they both looked away. He frowned. 'It's unfortunate that I can't talk to them alone. I can't have grandma see the knife either.'

Noah looked up at her again. "Grandma, you know you didn't have to wake up to take me here. It's only right across the road. It's quite easy to get here, and most importantly, safe. It's not like there are cars driving all around like they did years ago." Rosa looked down at him. "There aren't a measly few villains running around like they did years ago. They're everywhere now," she smiled, looking ahead again, "Who knows? Some flying monster might come and kill us both where we stand."She already knew that it was impossible to scare her grandson. She still tried regardless.

"I'm sure you know death is worse than that bandage on your finger."

Noah kept his frown. The world really was a dangerous place; so hadn't bothered replying. He watched as his two friends came walking toward them.

The little girl was Julia. Many called her the cutest thing in the entire dome. She kept her hair in blonde ponytails, and there was shine in her blue eyes. She also had quite an ethereal smile that hinted at the extremidy of her innocence.

Her brother, Brendan, however, was quite arrogant. He was always cocky, and had always strived to be the best. He possesed blonde hair, blue eyes as well but also a cocky smirk.

Julia and Brendan were kids from the orphanage. Their parents were both had abilities they thought they could use to better themselves. They were murderered, and human-trafficked by Courtez's gang. And now, their children both came walking the streets alone without an adult to guide and protect them everyday.

Rosa scrutinized them as they neared. "Huh? You came here alone again? What happened to the woman who brings you?"

Brendan stopped. "She died," he said plainly. "Heartattack."

"My condolences," Noah and Rosa said in unison.

Julia stopped. "Good morning, Ms. Rosa and Mr. Noah."

Noah narrowed his eyes. "Drop the formals, if you can, thank you."

Brendan glanced at her. "I always tell her that she should save the formals for me when I become the Monarch of this place." He smirked.

Noah scoffed. "Yeah right."

Julia looked at Noah and blushed. "So ... Mr. Noah ..."

Noah narrowed his eyes again. "I'm seven too, you know?"

Julia continued, "how was your day today?" She clasped her hands behind her back, smiling.

"Suspicious," Rosa said. She had chosen to reply for him.

Noah scratched behind his head. "Heh heh. I wasn't that suspicious, right?"

Julia grimaced. "Suspicious? What does that word mean?"

Brendan glared at her. "Ah, come on, Julia. Are you trying to embarrass me on purpose of something?"

She looked at Brendan, and nodded her head.

It grew silent for a while.

Rosa whilsted, clasping her hands behind her back. She hadn't lost her smile yet either. She smiled, looking up at the sky. "Noah," she said, "aren't you gonna show the knife to them?"

Noah jumped, retreating a bit. "Huh!? What knife? I wasn't going to show them any knife!"

Rosa looked down at him. "The one in your pocket, silly."

Noah felt pressured, he backed away. "I don't have anything in my pockets."

"Oh, you are most definitely correct," she said, moving her hands from behind her back and revealing a blade, "I had it in mine. My memory is failing me, truly."

Noah's mouth gaped. "Gr-grandma!? Where'd you get that from?"

She approached him, and handed the knife to him. "Here you go, dear. Show it to them as planned."

Noah took the knife. He looked at the knife. It was the real thing. Then he frowned, looking up at his grandma again. "Grandma? Are you gonna tell Mother about this? I don't want Uncle Ash to get in trouble again."

Rosa grinned. "Hah! Don't worry, pumpkin. It's all fine. I'll let the tattooed horrible father off the hook this time. I mean," she looked down at the knife, "it is a pretty solid blade."

Noah smiled; his cheeks flushing. He darted toward his grandma, wrapping his hands around her. "You're the COOLEST grandma in the whole world!"

Rosa hugged him back. "Well ... I wouldn't say the coolest grandma in the whole world, " she said, "more so the entire universe." She smiled.

Brendan and Julia watched with slight nuances on their faces. This wasn't their usual looks.

Noah released his grandma, and jogged over to them. He stood, holding the knife in his hand. He flickered it, and then looked up at them again. "Guys ... this is my new gift. Uncle Ash gave it to me this morning."

Julia looked down at the weapon, awe in her eyes. "Waw! It's so ... beautiful. How can you have the coolest grandma and the coolest uncle? You're also the coolest kid I know, Mr. Noah," she chuckled, "and your knife is the coolest too."

Brendan pouted. "Yeah yeah ... good looking blade. But just like your uncle, I'm sure it's nothing more than looks, unfortunately. Telekinesis bests weapons all the way." His hair began to float; so did his deck of cards.

Julia and Brendan had inherited Telekinesis from their parents. Julia, however, was quite incompetent, and struggled to even lift a feather with her mind.

Noah glared at Brendan. "Don't say that about my uncle. He's more than looks. If he isn't, then explain how he's becoming the King of the mafia?"

Brendan hadn't responded.

"Thought so," Noah said, still glaring at Brendan.

While Rosa talked to Julia, complimenting her and whatnot, Noah had noticed a strange man walking down the streets, headed for their house. Noah throwed constant looks at him, his egregious appearance making him paranoid.

From a distance, he watched as the man entered their front porch, and stood in front of the door.

"Guys," Noah said, "I'm leaving. I left something at the house. I'll be back in a minute, okay?"

Rosa turned to him. "Alright, then I must come with."

"No need," Noah said, walking away, "like I said, no cars. You should watch Brendan and Julia. Can't just leave them by themselves."

Rosa sighed. "A-alright then."

Noah turned around; his smile falling. He walked briskly toward his house. He looked around, and took out his knife again, keeping at his side, furrowing his brows.

Rosa had looked over her shoulder and noticed the knife. She turned to Brendan and Julia, smiling again. "You two haven't entered our house before. Would you like to in a minute?"
