25. Rescue Team VS Dummy Foxghosts

Translator: Ann Yi

“What did you see?” Mirrocle asked in astonishment. He realized what was going on and he admitted that he was too careless.

Frost pulled Mirrocle to the bridge he saw, and two Men in Black appeared behind them soundlessly.

“Meow!” Murk did not talk much along the way, but now, he suddenly let out a sharp scream, causing Mirrocle’s heart to skip a beat.

Frost rolled on the ground without looking back, causing Mirrocle to fall to the ground too.

They looked at the spot where they had been and there was a deep knife cut on the ground.

“Meow meow meow!!! (He’s the one who kidnapped the Fox!!!)” The moment Murk saw the Men in Black, he recognized the terrifying aura that he emitted.

“They’re Dummy Foxghosts!” Murk didn’t know that, but, with just one look, Mirrocle knew what the two Men in Black were. To be precise, they were not two people, but two dead fox fairies. With a secret method, their souls were refined and made into foxghosts. Foxghosts were very powerful and good at covering their tracks.

The shortcoming of the foxghosts was that the soul refining process was extremely painful. In the end, the successfully-refined foxghosts became dummies. Most of them could only do whatever their masters ordered them to do, which made them very convenient puppets.

“Be careful. Don’t fight with the foxghosts head on. They are very strong, and don’t have contacts with them.” Mirrocle came out in a hurry this time, so he didn’t take enough magic weapons with him.

Right now, they could only try to buy themselves some time. Foxghosts were most afraid of thunder strikes. Ordinary magic spells could only have effects on ordinary ghosts. For Dummy Foxghosts, who were fox fairies when they were alive, only Thunder Spell would prove to be useful to them

Mirrocle cast an Invisibility Spell on himself, and the foxghosts who had been chasing him lost their target all of a sudden.

Mirrocle carefully avoided the foxghosts and circled behind Frost. He cast an Invisibility Spell on Frost. “Under my Invisibility Spell, we can remain invisible for three minutes. And I need to find a place to get the Thunder Spell ready.”

Thunder Spell was a middle-level magic spell he learned at magic school. Although it was a spell that any magician could cast, the magician needed to borrow the power of the thunder from the sky when casting the spell and that took time.

“Doctor Frost, you’ll distract them! I’ll cast the Thunder Spell. Dummy Foxghosts are super strong, but they can’t make a turn. They can only attack you head on. So be careful!” As he said that, Mirrocle rubbed his hands and climbed up a big tree that was as far away as possible.

Murk wanted to swear. ‘Mirrocle, f*ck you! You both are invisible but I’m not! They will go after me!!!’

“Meow meow!!!” Murk panted and dodged to the left and right under the attack of the two foxghosts. Fortunately, he had practiced his fighting skills when he was a stray cat. It was not a problem for him to fight against three dogs at the same time. He could confront two foxghosts who couldn’t make a turn. Although he would not be injured, he would be tired!

Mirrocle didn’t understand what Murk was saying, but Frost felt embarrassed when he heard that.

“How about casting an Invisibility Spell on Murk? He might be injured if you don’t. ” Frost advised.

Mirrocle had already climbed into the tree, took out his drawing tools from his bag and apologized awkwardly to Murk, “I also wanted to, but I was in a hurry when I got out. And I didn’t bring enough magic talismans with me. Murk, you’ll fight with them first. When we go back, I’ll treat you a big big meal. Just take it as an intense workout!”

“Meow meow meow!!! (To hell with your big meal! I don’t believe you!)” Murk wanted to climb into the tree to scratch Mirrocle.

Mirrocle smiled on the tree and revealed his white teeth, “Good Murk, I knew you’d agree. Deal then!”

“Meow! (F*ck you!)”

Frost felt that he didn’t need to translate it. Just let Mirrocle coax Murk afterwards.

Hurriedly, Frost looked at the terrain around them. They were not far from the stone bridge, and they could cross the bridge if they rushed towards it, but the problem was that there were two foxghosts chasing after them. Would they be safe after they got to the bungalow?

It was better to let Mirrocle draw enough magic talismans and finish off the two foxghosts first.

It was not difficult to draw a Thunder Spell Talisman. The hardest part was to get the power of thunder. After the world calamity, the gods have fallen one after another. Now the people in the path of cultivation can only borrow the natural power between heaven and earth. Gathering the power of nature was easier than inviting the God, but it also took a certain amount of time.

While Mirrocle was preparing for the Thunder Spell, Frost and Murk were fighting fiercely with the two foxghosts. They were almost cut by the sharp blade of the two foxghosts several times, and Murk was so scared that his tail didn’t dare to stand too high.

However, Frost and Murk gradually got the hang of it. The foxghosts’ moves were very fierce, but they were not like those sinister moves that ghosts would use. The moves were either vertical or horizontal, which became their biggest disadvantage. Murk used this flaw and jumped between the two foxghosts and surprise attacked them from time to time.

It was unknown whether Murk was really intelligent, or his strength had increased. He extended his sharp claws from his footpads and scratched the face of the foxghosts. The flesh on the face of the foxghosts weren’t torn off, but there were deep cracks on their faces, and it could be vaguely seen that black air was surging from the crack.

“Well done! Murk, hang in there! A big meal is waiting for you!” Mirrocle’s first Thunder Spell Talisman was ready, and he saw Murk’s fierce side from the corner of his eye.

After Murk heard the praise from Mirrocle, there was no expression on his black face, but his moves got even more ruthless.

Frost was not as flexible as Murk, but exercising all year round gave him lots of flexibility. Frost didn’t know if it was his illusion or not, but he felt that foxghosts’ movements were slower and slower, and that he could even predict what their next actions would be.

What Frost didn’t know was that Mirrocle had been staring at him on the tree for a long time. As an outsider, he could see that Frost’s speed was much faster than that of the foxghosts.

Although, unlike Murk who was small and delicate, Frost could not travel between trees and people, the speed of Frost’s movements was not slower than that of Murk’s.

‘Doctor Frost can’t be a human, right? No matter how good his savvy is, it is impossible for him to learn these movements without a master teaching him.’

‘After we got out, I’ll investigate Doctor Frost.’ Mirrocle looked at Frost seriously, realizing that his previous impression on Frost was all wrong, and Frost’s background was more complicated than he imagined.

“Meow meow meow! (What are you looking at? Are you done yet?! I’m exhausted here!)” Murk felt that the fat he had gained at Dr. Frost’s house had all been burnt today!

‘If you don’t come down and help me, I’ll be dead!!!’

Frost also looked up and asked Mirrocle, “Are you finished?”

Only then did Mirrocle stop himself from being curious about Frost. He needed to solve the problem they were facing now!

“Yeah, I’m coming!”
