18. Murk Is Returning Home

Translator: Ann Yi

A Man in Black took the little fox away and left the house in a complete mess. An ordinary person couldn’t have done this. Had an ordinary person smashed the wall like this, the neighbor would have called the police. Frost thought about the fact that he could understand what Murky was saying now that the little fox wasn’t around. Although he suspected that the little fox was not simple as he appeared to be, he did not expect that he had such a fierce enemy.

Frost held Murk and stroked his back in an attempt to calm him down. “I can understand what you said. Tell me what had happened.”

At first, Murk just continued to meow. Then he suddenly froze, and jumped off Frost’s knees.

“Meow meow meow??? (What did you say? Doctor Frost, you can understand what I say?)” Impossible! It can’t be true! It wasn’t that Murk didn’t believe it. It was just that he and the stupid fox had complained a lot in front of Dr. Frost, but Dr. Frost didn’t look like he understood them at all.

Dr. Frost waved to Murk, who retreated to the corner warily. He signaled him to come over and explained, “I could understand what animals say since I was born, and that was why I became a vet. But recently I don’t know what has happened, but I just suddenly couldn’t understand what animals say recently. Don’t be scared, I won’t hurt you.”

Murk felt relieved. It was a good thing that Dr. Frost didn’t understand what they had said before. Otherwise, Murk would be afraid that Dr. Frost would do another terrible surgery on him.

“Meow meow meow oh?” (Then, did you understand my painful howling when you cut my balls?)” About his balls being cut, it was and would always be a pain for Murk. If Dr. Frost could understand it at the time, Murk would hate him forever.

“Uh, I didn’t understand it at that time. I did that in order to extend your lifespan. Let’s not talk about this. Who kidnapped the little fox?” Although Frost could understand what the animals said, this was the first time that he told an animal that he could understand their languages. After all, as a vet, sometimes it was not a good thing to be able to communicate with small patients, especially when they were being neutered.

When he asked who had kidnapped Larry, Murk decided to put aside his personal grudges, but that didn’t mean that he had forgiven Dr. Frost!

“Meow meow, meow ow… meow! (The psychopath junior sister, and the Man in Black… They fought and the little fox was taken away by the Man in Black .)”

Murk meowed while Dr. Frost put all the pieces together and figured out what had happened.

He really picked up a fox fairy and cut off his Essence Orb, a.k.a. his balls.

By doing that, did he save the little fox or harm him?

The little fox also has a perverted junior sister named June. When Murk said that June had taken his underwear and smelled it, Frost’s face darkened. He would throw all his underwear away and buy new ones.

Murk knew the identity of the perverted junior sister, but he didn’t know who the Man in Black was as he appeared so suddenly. It was so chaotic at the time, and Murk felt that he was lucky enough to have escaped from such a ferocious man.

Frost felt that he had to think about it. He picked up a fox fairy with a special identity and made him lose his magic power. Then little fox’s perverted junior sister came here to take him away but for some unknown reason, she didn’t do that. And on the second time the perverted junior sister came here, she was interrupted by the Man in Black who never showed up before, and the little fox was taken away by the Man in Black.

Most importantly, no one knew who the Man in Black was!

“Murky, do you have a way to find out where they are?” Frost had suspected that the little fox was a fox fairy, and the smartness of this black cat was beyond his cognition.

The smartest little animal that Frost had encountered was a Border Collie, but its intelligence was only equivalent to that of a seven-year-old child. Murk’s cleverness gives Frost a different feeling than that of the Border Collie. Frost and Murk communicated in an equal way when they talked to each other.

“Meow-meow. (I don’t know, but my former master should know. He is a magician and should have a way to find where they are.”

At this point, apart from going to see his former master, Mirrocle, Murk really didn’t know who else could help them.

“Where are you going to find him?” When Frost heard Murk mentioned his former owner, his first thought was that Murk was a pitiful cat abandoned by its owner.

Most abandoned cats would never go back to their former owners in their lifetime, let alone to ask them for help.

However, in Murk’s case, it really had nothing to do with being abandoned. To be precise, Murk was the one who abandoned his former owner.

Mirrocle had to travel a lot to catch the fairies. Sometimes, he would go to a remote place where there was no signal. And he would stay there for at least a few days or at most half a month.

Murk was born in an ordinary farmhouse. His life there was no different from that of most domestic short-haired cats. The turning point was that one day, a purchaser from a restaurant came to the village to buy food and took away Murk together with the delicacies.

When Mirrocle saw Murk, he was a little magician who went out of his school for the first time. When he passed by the kitchen of the restaurant, he saw a black cat being locked in a cage and meowing. Though it was just one glance, he couldn’t forget it.

After inquiring about it, he found out that the chef in this restaurant was newly hired from State Galia and brought along the famous local dish: Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon.

The dragon in the dish was actually a snake, and the tiger couldn’t be a real one as well. So Murk was that “tiger”.

After the snake and cat meat was fried, it was stewed in a casserole along with the stock. A pot of Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon was new to the bosses of State Hawthorn. Murk was the raw material for the next Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon dish.

Mirrocle had just graduate from his magic school and he didn’t have much money, but Mirrocle begged the owner of the restaurant not to kill Murk. He would go get the money to buy the black cat.

Murk didn’t remember much about the past. He only remembered who saved him and why he chose to become a stray cat.

Anyway, he left home only because of his former master’s obsession. Now was the time for him to go back.

“Meow-meow. (Search for the news about a snake being bit by a human a few days ago. That human is my former owner.” Murk felt that even if he went to his former owner’s residence now, he would not find him. When it came to searching people, humans were better than a cat.

Frost thought about the news that the nurses in the hospital had discussed about a few days ago, but he had not seen it himself. He looked at Murk meaningfully and hesitated, “Your former master bit a snake?”

“Meow meow! (No! That’s not true. He caught the snake! Not Bite! Those journalists exaggerated it!)” Murk quickly denied it. He was such an intellectual cat, so how could he have an owner who was stupid enough to bite a snake back?

That was good. Frost felt that he had to consider whether he should believe what Murk said if his former master really had bit a snake back.

He called Noah, who worked in the media industry. When it came to finding someone who had been on a hot hashtag, Noah must be faster than him.

Noah was even faster than Frost imagined. In half an hour, Mirrocle’s info had been sent to Frost’s phone.
