16. The Danger Returns

Translator: Ann Yi

Frost had been very busy at the pet clinic recently. For some reason, many wild animals showed up in the city recently, and those who had been injured were all sent to his clinic for treatment.

Larry’s and Murk’s wounds had basically healed, so it wasn’t a big problem for them to jump up and down. Luckily, both Larry and Murk were not capable of destroying the house.

Larry’s life was quite regular right now. He stayed up late every night and woke up naturally every morning. This is the kind of life anybody wants to live: a handsome guy is taking care of your everyday life and you don’t have to go to work.

Larry didn’t want to change into human form again, but when he thought about how, as a fox, he could never have intercourse with Dr. Frost, he dismissed the idea as unrealistic.

When Frost was not home, Larry would always follow what was happening on the Internet, especially information about the little magician. After seeing Mirrocle outside the community that day, Larry thought that he would come again, but, to his surprise, he never showed up again.

One day, he accidentally saw a video shared by a blogger and that was when he heard news about Mirrocle again: Man Bit Snake after Being Bitten by It. Righteous Young Man Caught a Snake to Save People.

He was about to swipe it away when he saw a familiar person in the video which played automatically. The little magician looked nervous in front of the camera.

“Isn’t he a magician? Why did he catch a snake?”

Murk lay lazily on the table. When he heard the word “magician”, he shook his ears and looked up at the screen.

“Meow-meow-meow. (That’s a snake fairy. He must have been after the snake fairy recently)” ‘Ah! He was really stupid, and he was caught red-handed by a mortal when he was catching a snake.’

Larry couldn’t see how the corpse that had been bitten into pieces looked like a snake fairy.

In Larry’s view, a snake fairy looked either like Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe. It was very embarrassing for a snake fairy to be killed by a human and die in such a miserable state.

“Are all fairies so weak in reality? Why are the ones I met so powerful?” Luck didn’t favor him. That must be why.

Murk stared intently at Mirrocle on the screen. The video wasn’t even interesting, but whenever it was replayed, Murk would say something about it. Even Larry was impressed by the fact that Murk, as a cat, had such a rich and large vocabulary.

The curtains swung gently, and the wind was blowing behind them. Larry was wearing Frost’s pajamas. Now that he took on human form, he had no fur on him. And he felt a bit cold. There were even goose bumps on Larry’s arms.

“Why is suddenly so cold? Is it going to rain?” Larry decided to change back to be a fox to stay warm.

The moment the computer was turned off and the screen turned black, Larry and Murk both screamed and jumped away.

“Meow-ah-oh!”

“Gee-gee-gee!”

When he saw the silhouette of a woman on the dark screen, Larry thought it so creepy. He jumped to the side, and there was only a pile of messy clothes on the ground.

“Haha, Senior Brother, why are you so unhappy to see me?” Junior June hadn’t appeared recently, so Larry almost forgot about the existence of this time bomb.

The residential area where Frost lived was quite forested. And those who came here for the first time might think that it was a park. In a community that boasted 60% greenery coverage, in addition to the fresh air, there were inevitably more different kinds of animals.

On the tree outside Frost’s house, a pair of green eyes had been watching the movements in the house.

The moment June appeared, an unseen light flew towards the sky in the southwest.

“Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow! !(Didn’t your mother tell you not to scare others like that?!!)” ‘F*ck! I was not killed by the lightning, but was almost scared to death by Junior June!’

Larry was so angry that he failed to control his temper in front of June. When he scolded her, he felt great, but now that he finished scolding her, he wanted to slap himself twice.

‘You big mouth! What if you irritated this psychopath?!’

June’s big eyes reflected a cold light and her lips twitched on the side of her mouth. “Did my mother tell me that? Shouldn’t you know that already?”

‘I don’t know!’

‘I shouldn’t have yelled!’

‘It was a slip of the tongue!’

If kneeling and begging for mercy could save his life, Larry would definitely…not kneel!

Larry sat amidst the pile of clothes and chuckled, trying to change the subject. “Gee-gee gee! (Haha, my dear Junior, it has been a long time since we last saw each other. How are you doing lately? You’re here so early. Did you have any breakfast? Would you like to eat something here?)”

June licked the corner of her mouth with the tip of her tongue. To be honest, she looked pretty, but Larry was horrified when he saw June acting like that. That was how every horror movie went. When villains started to lick the corner of their mouths, they were about to do something really horrifying!

“Senior Brother, you’re really hospitable. It really made me hungry when I saw you in your human form.” With the way June looked at him, Larry had no doubt. And he was sure that June really wanted to eat him!!!

“Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho! (No, no, no, my meat isn’t delicious. Besides, can a fox eat another fox?)”

“Meow-meow. (Foxes are omnivorous.)”

‘Damn it? !’

June seemed to have carefully considered what Larry had said and nodded in agreement. “Indeed, fox meat doesn’t taste good.”

“Tchacha-chacha??? (So you have eaten fox meat before???)”

Then June continued, “But don’t worry, Senior Brother. You’re an Astraea Fox, so you should taste better than ordinary foxes.”

‘Even if you said that as a compliment, I won’t feel happy about it!’

“Tchacha-chacha-chacha-chow! (Junior June, you won’t eat me, right? Don’t you like me? You would never do such a cruel thing to me.”

“Meow-meow-meow. (The TV commercials always say that if you like it, you should eat it.)” Murk remembered seeing a chocolate advertisement a few days ago. He really wanted to try it, but it was a pity that cats couldn’t eat chocolate.

“Alright, Senior Brother, you have absorbed a lot of spiritual power from that mortal these few days. Your injury has healed. Now, you’ll come with me.” June extended her hand towards Larry, who walked towards her involuntarily.

“Meow! (Run!)” Murk leaped onto the coffee table and threw himself forward. His sharp claws stretched out from his footpads and went straight to June’s face.

Murk was trying to buy the fox some time so the fox could run away. However, June didn’t think too highly of his attack at all.

With a wave of her hand, Murk flew backwards and was slammed upon the window.

When Larry saw that Murk had fallen from bed, he felt furious. ‘Damn it, I’ll either explode in silence or die in silence. I’ll fight to death with you!’

Summoning the small amount of spiritual power that he had accumulated in his body for the past few days and gathering it in his right paw, he kicked his hind leg and used all his strength to roar, “Fra-kaka-kow! (Kame Hame Ha!)”

June blocked it easily and asked surprisingly, “Senior Brother, you’ve made your decision?”

‘No, no, don’t talk nonsense!’

Larry didn’t know he would be this weak! It was useless to call out a big move!

“Meow… (You fool…)”

Larry wanted to cry. This wasn’t how novels were written. Shouldn’t there be a miracle if he called out a big move?!!!

‘What did I just do? Did I used all my strength but end up being a cannon folder?’
