“Remy…?”

It had been a long time since Cosette and Remias had disappeared towards the entrance of the hall.

I was looking around the hall for Cosette, who hadn’t returned even though the ball was almost over when I saw Remias beside His Royal Highness who had arrived late.

I stepped closer and tugged on Remias’s shoulder.

“Remias, where’s Cosette?”

“If it’s not…George-sama, you are being impolite. Even in the presence of Your Highness.”

“Excuse me. But, how’s Cosette?”

I got annoyed with Remias’s refusal to answer my questions and my tone became severe.

His Highness also senses the harsh atmosphere and looks at us.

“I talked to her for a bit and parted away with her as soon as I got off. Isn’t she somewhere in the hall?”

Remias takes his gaze off me, and for some reason he looks a little shaken.

“No, she was nowhere to be found. When did you part away with her? Did Cosette return to the hall soon?”

“That’s what I’m telling you! Cosette just walked into the hall! You are being disrespectful!”

Remias’s voice echoed unexpectedly, and the hall fell silent as if it had been hit by a lightning bolt.

As the students’ gazes were focused on us, I had no choice but to let go of Remias’s hand.

“Well Remias, is it true that you and Cosette parted away almost immediately after coming here? You don’t know where she went after that, do you?”

“Do you doubt my word, too, Your Highness? You don’t believe me and I don’t feel well. I must be excused.”

Perhaps offended by the choking tone of His Highness and I, Remias left the hall in a hurry.

“George, how long has Cosette been out of sight?”

“Well as soon as I arrived at the ballroom, Remias told me he wanted to talk to her, and I haven’t seen her since.”

It’s been a long time since I’ve spoken to His Highness.

He has been avoiding Cosette unnaturally lately, but was he worried?

“I thought Your Highness was avoiding Cosette because you dislike her. Are you perhaps, worried about her?”

“Of course… I don’t hate her… I… do but she is with Remias.”

Did you and Remias avoid Cosette? Yeah?

I’m not sure what that means, but I know that I don’t care.

“I see. Then I’ll go find Cosette.”

“She may be back at the Count’s house. I’ll contact the Count.”

I searched for her through the entire hall again, but Cosette was nowhere to be found.

Cosette came here using my carriage, so there was no carriage for the Count. There must be no way for Cosette to return to the mansion.

When I asked the carriage-keeper if a carriage left the hall, he said there was a carriage leaving the hall before the ball started, but he didn’t know who was riding in it.

“Hah, hah, I don’t see her here at all. Is Cosette in the Count’s house?”

“She’s not home. I’ll call for a search. Though, I only have my own private army to move.”

“I’m going to the Count’s residence. Maybe they’ve already left and arrived there.”

I hurriedly drove the carriage to the Count’s house, but still, Cosette was nowhere to be found.
