I Will Conquer The World!

Chapter 19: I'm completely fine!

Just when they were approaching him, ready to take him to the healer, John screamed, "Listen! WAIT A SECOND! I'm completely fine! What I said was all true! Give me a chance to prove it!"

The farmers were startled by his screeches and stopped walking. After hearing what he said, the woman who supported John before seemed to fall into deep thought. She said slowly, "Okay. I'll come with you. Prove it to me."

Another man too tagged along with them, wanting to see just what made their leader believe that the king who he despised before was a messenger of god so desperately.

After John who was their ex leader, the farmers believed the woman, Catherine the most. In times when John was ill or unavailable, Catherine took charge and lead the farmers.

John was handsome, and he was in his 30's. Both he and Catherine were childhood friends, and it is said in rumors that Catherine loved John dearly.

The thing that was excellent in Lyria was their acceptance. They wouldn't force people to do anything.

Women and men were treated equally, and the parents and families did not force their children to marry.

This was the case for Catherine too, who was in her 30's too, an age considered slightly late to marry in modern Earth, leave alone the medieval world where women were married off when they were in their 10's.

Her parents thought that she had no intention of marrying, and did not bother her much about it. They thought that at most, they could adopt someone else as a sibling to her.

All three of then reached the castle and Catherine and the other man were about to enter rashly when John stopped them.

He respectfully stood at the entrance, and called Hamilton who was passing by, asking him to request permission of an audience from the king.

Looking at his immensely respectful behavior, Catherine was starting to get convinced that there was something special in this king, no matter if it was the ancestors powers or the devil's powers.

For her, no matter if this king was evil incarnate itself, it didn't matter as long as he could make their lives better.

In this world where power is everything, it doesn't matter if your good or bad. The thing that matters is who has more power.

The only difference between the 'good' king and 'bad' king is how he treats his people. Both of them slaughter armies and kills the royals. Both of them sometimes may have to massacre people. The only difference is how he treats his people.

If he oppressed his own people, he would be hated by them, and his kingdom could collapse easily.

But if he treated them with utmost care, garnering love from them, then they would fight against the whole world for him.

They wouldn't be able to accept losing the comforts and peace they have with their current king if he loses.

In the end, that is all that it boils down to.

-------------------------

Sometimes people who've committed sins and atrocities are still called good and thought of as good by everyone, because they covered it all up.

There's an excellent quote in my language that captures the essence of what I'm trying to say.

"Dorikite Donga, Dorakakapote Dorha."

What it means is : If you're caught, your a thief. If your not, then your a good samaritan.
