Chapter 21: He Was Holding a Child

The body of a child at the age of 3 years and a half was still growing. Kids around this age usually had early bedtimes, and should usually be drifting into dreamland around 7 p.m.

It was now 9.30 p.m. after the whole ruckus from earlier on settled down.

It wasn’t long before Lu Li had become so sleepy that she started rubbing her eyes and yawning as Lu Junhan held her in his arms. Her crystal clear eyes were getting wetter underneath those long eyelashes, but she was trying her best to stay awake.

She wanted to stay with her daddy for a little longer.

But in the end, she succumbed to the drowsiness.

Her little head would drop down onto Lu Junhan’s shoulder like a chick trying to peck food off the ground. There would also be moments when she snored lightly like a pig.

The noises around her weren’t able to wake her up, perhaps because of how comfortable it was, sleeping in daddy’s arms.

Her placing complete trust in him and how defenseless she appeared had made Lu Junhan raise his eyebrow.

To fall asleep in his arms, this little thing certainly had the guts.

What’s more, she slept soundly, like a pig.

Isn’t she afraid that he would sell her off?

“Daddy…”

Suddenly, the little girl’s pudgy cheeks rubbed against his shoulder as she called out to him with her eyes still closed. Her arms, which wrapped around his neck got tighter.

Lu Junhan looked up, “Hm?”

Hearing her daddy’s voice assured her that he was still there. Relieved, she rested on his shoulder, allowing herself to fall into a deep sleep.

Her warm breath on his skin felt like he was being brushed by a feather. She blushed as she slept—the scene was both beautiful and cute at the same time.

Lu Junhan’s cold and calm expression had subconsciously become softer.

Lu Junhan still had Lu Li in his arms when he appeared in the hall, and many of his guests gasped audibly when they saw the scene. Their eyes were filled with disbelief as if they were unable to comprehend what they had just seen.

That was Lu Junhan from Hai City, right?

And the one in his arm, was that… a doll?

Wait, it’s moving! It’s a child! A living, breathing child!

Were they blind? Or had their boss gone crazy?

It was their first-time seeing Lu Junhan willingly being so close to a child. Not only did he not throw the child out, but he was also carrying her in his arms properly!

And the child was quite brave too, to be able to fall asleep in his arms like that. Was she not afraid that he’d murder her?

They really couldn’t believe their eyes!

Some of them who came back to their senses quickly asked the servants in private about where the child came from.

Anxious that they’d start spreading false rumors, the butler had no choice but to tell them the truth.

In less than 15 minutes, the high society of Hai City was shocked by what they heard…

Lu Junhan had a biological daughter!

Correct, it was the Lu Junhan who had a distaste for children they were talking about!

He had a biological daughter!

And he loved the kid so much that he was willing to spoil her rotten!

It was clear that he didn’t dare to let her go when he continued having her in his arms as he spoke to his guests. It seemed like he was willing to lay down his life for her should the situation call for it.

Lu Junhan was of course, completely oblivious to the fact that such rumors about him had started spreading around like wildfire.

The banquet in the Lu Family was far from over, and as the host of this event, Lu Junhan still had a lot of things to do. That was the main reason why he held this banquet in the first place.

He passed Lu Li, who was sound asleep to a servant that walked by him. He wanted her to bring Lu Li up to have a shower before tucking the child into bed.

“Daddy…”

The little girl woke up instantly the moment she left her daddy’s arms.

She tried hard to stay awake, and forcefully opened up her big blurry eyes and said unhappily, “I don’t want to go up, I want to be with you!”

“Be a good kid, will you?”

The little girl was all sad and pitiful when she responded, “But I don’t want to…”

If she didn’t stick close to her daddy, her daddy would be in danger. So like hell that was going to happen!

The look in Lu Junhan’s eyes darkened as he glared at the little girl. A dangerous and scary vibe came forth immediately after he did that.
