53 Staying Over

Shen Yin felt helpless. She knew how much the old people cared about their great-grandchildren. Although she was Nian Nian’s biological mother, she had no right to stop Grandpa Lian from building a relationship with Nian Nian.

Shen Yin squatted down and coaxed him softly. “Then after dinner, Nian Nian will go home with me, okay?”

Shen Nian looked at his scumbag father, who had been staring at his mother. He secretly laughed at Shen Yin for being so slow on the uptake, but he pretended to nod obediently.

Helpless, Shen Yin sent a message to Li Zi to tell her that she had found Nian Nian and not to worry.

Grandpa Lian immediately beamed with joy. The two of them held hands and walked to the dining table together.

Grandpa Lian held Shen Nian’s hand and wanted the boy to sit beside him. However, the little boy glanced at his scumbag father who was sitting alone beside his mother, and jostled the man aside. He pulled his mother to sit down next to him.

Lian Jing was stunned for a moment. For some reason, he felt that this boy was very hostile towards him. He looked up and glared at Shen Yin dangerously, thinking that she said something to the boy that had the left a bad impression on the latter.

Shen Yin rubbed her nose, feeling puzzled. But when she saw that Lian Jing that had no choice but to sit opposite her in defeat, she could not help but feel secretly pleased.

Shen Yin did not know that Shen Nian had misunderstood the relationship between herself and Lian Jing. In the past, he had only heard Shen Yin mention that she had a failed marriage. He thought that his mother’s unhappiness was caused by this man.

Although he was very satisfied with this man’s qualifications and had even sent him a private message saying that he was willing to let this man be his stepfather, the situation was obviously different now.

This man was the culprit who had hurt his mother before. If the man wanted to reconcile with his mother, he would have to get past Shen Nian first.

He would never put his mother in a dangerous situation. Unless this man satisfied him, he would not give him the chance to get too close to his mother.

As long as he was around, this man could forget about taking advantage of his mother!

Everyone had their own ulterior motives during the meal. When Shen Yin saw that her son had eaten his fill, she prepared to leave with him. Lian Jing suddenly clenched his chopsticks tightly.

Grandpa Lian could not bear to part with his great-grandson. He also secretly wanted to help his grandson, who could not seem to find favor. He slowly put down his teacup and his eyes gradually turned red. He looked at Shen Nian with tears in his eyes. “My dear great-grandson, I’ve finally found you. Unfortunately, six years have already passed. My health is poor now and someday, I might not be able to see you again. We just met, but now we have to part.”

The corners of Shen Nian’s mouth twitched. He let go of his mother’s hand and went forward to comfort the pitiful old man. “Great-Grandpa, I will ask Mom to bring me to see you often.”

The Old Master sighed. “But your mother is busy with work. Nian Nian, I don’t know when I’ll be able to see you again. My precious great-grandson, why don’t you stay with me? That way, I can see you every day.”

Shen Nian looked at his mother, feeling conflicted. During dinner, he could tell that his mother respected Grandpa Lian very much. He did not want to reject the old man directly, so he waited for his mother’s answer.

Shen Yin was about to reject him when Lian Jing saw through her intentions and instructed the butler decisively and domineeringly, “Prepare a guest room for Miss Shen and my son.”

He looked at Shen Yin. He put on a filial look, as if he could not do anything about the old man. He said helplessly, “You know that Grandpa is in poor health. It’s getting late. We can talk tomorrow.”

Shen Yin looked at the expectant old man. Her heart softened and she nodded. Then, she held Shen Nian’s hand and followed the butler to the guest room on the second floor.

After they disappeared around the corner, Lian Jing curled his lips slightly. Grandpa Lian found his smug look unbearable.

“Little Jing, you’re rich and powerful, and you’re not bad-looking. Why don’t girls like you?”

Lian Jing narrowed his eyes and thought of the kiss in the car. He subconsciously licked his lips and his eyes darted back and forth. “Who said that she doesn’t like me?”

Grandpa Lian guffawed as if he had heard a joke. Then, he stood up tiredly and smiled meaningfully. “Little Jing, this is as far as I can help you. Shen Yin is not like other girls. You have to put in more effort.”

After the Old Master left, Lian Jing quietly went up to the second floor and stopped in front of Shen Yin’s door. Just as he was wondering if he should go in, the door suddenly opened. Shen Nian stared at him.
