44. Become a Temporary Quartermaster of the Academy

Doha The wagon, which briefly burned with the story of the Prius and my rumors, became quiet again as the journey continued.

I didn’t really like the reactions of my colleagues, but since they didn’t treat me, there was nothing left to do if I messed around by myself, so I closed my eyes too.

It was after arriving at Purgio Forest, the joint training ground, when I opened my eyes again to the sound of the wagon rattling to a halt and the bustling noise around me.

Bamir was nowhere to be seen as if they had already gotten off, and the rest of the people were getting off the carriage one by one, taking care of their luggage.

With Chad’s help, I got off the wagon and looked up at the sky.

Looking at the red energy rising from the sun hanging on the edge of the mountain, it seemed that the time was approaching evening.

We got off at the center of the camp where the headquarters was set up.

In the huge tent that felt like a field command post, uniformed employees were seen bustling around.

“Hey. Don’t act like a country boy and move quickly.”

As I was looking around the headquarters in a daze, Bamir appeared and gave me a hint of notice.

Headquarters, uniforms, etc. It seemed like it was inevitable for a man to keep his eyes on a sight that seemed to contain something.

I barely opened my eyes and followed behind Bamir with my fellow Quartermasters.

In a dark forest a little far from the headquarters. It was not easy to approach because steep cliffs rose from behind and densely covered with trees on all sides.

The road was neatly polished, so it was easy for wagons and people to pass, but there was only one passage, and even that, there were three separate checkpoints installed.

Every time I passed a checkpoint, I had to present my ID and pass through, and the supply officers complained about the annoying way to enter and exit.

“The most important thing for the army to move is supply, so this is it. You guys.”

Bamir’s scolding, as if he were an old man or not, made the scoldings of the vendors disappear.

Since they were all people who woke up and rolled on the field, there was no way they didn’t know that much.

“Today I have to remember things like passage, so I’m walking, and next time I can go by carriage or something.”

“You thought it would be impossible to move. How lethal it is for women. Isn’t it Reika?”

Everyone breathes a sigh of relief at Bamir’s explanation that today is an exception.

“Ah~ You can’t walk without legs with this?”

After listening to Bamir’s words, Chad joked with Reika, and Reika made her jokes into a documentary, making the atmosphere around her laugh.

After exchanging small jokes like that, we passed the last checkpoint and we were able to meet a huge simple logistics warehouse divided into a total of four.

“Yeah~ After all, the barrel is big. They make a warehouse this big. I can work very hard~”

Chad kicked a rock off the floor, sarcastically at the scale of the warehouse, which was built in earnest.

“Captain. If you start this now, you’ll be working overtime tonight, right?”

Chad grumbled, pointing to the boxes that had been unloaded indiscriminately. Probably the wagons that arrived earlier than us dropped them off at random places.

“What can I do? If I don’t get rid of this, there will be no answers for other burdens that will come in later, dude.”

“It’s sad, it’s sad.”

“The workers don’t seem to have arrived yet, so they’re just checking the condition.”

Even before Bamir’s instructions were finished, the supply officers were already moving to check the logistics placed within their jurisdiction.

“Check and report both the items that have arrived and those that have not yet arrived!”

“Yes”

The Quartermasters are scattered to check the boxes. Because they were involved in loading and sending the luggage, they knew which box was theirs.

Looking at my colleagues who started working, I approached the place where the familiar boxes were piled up.

The boxes stacked in three tiers were stacked a little higher than my height, and it was just amazing how they stacked them so high in an era without forklifts.

I checked the outside of the box and found a small label attached to it. The label detailed what the contents of the box were and who was in charge.

“Let’s see. It’s all clothing.”

The academy paid out all the required amount in advance, but as you get trained, there will be cases where you need more. Accordingly, it was the clothing prepared as spare clothes.

Put a piece of paper into the file folder you brought beforehand and slowly record what you have checked.

“There are 6 boxes of clothing, 20 sets per box…”

There was no need to open the box before sending it on the wagon, as it had already been checked several times and the quantity had been sent.

I would have checked it right away if there were any tear marks, but it was treated once with a screw and twice with a seal, and both were fine, so I passed.

I am in charge of clothing and some food materials. And firecrackers are explosives.

Anyway, food materials are the most important in the supply side, so Bamir and Chad were in charge of that side, but food materials such as emergency food were not too difficult, so I was in charge.

Jerky, hard biscuits, nuts and stuff like that.

Although these are foods that would not be eaten normally, they say that they provide students with foods that are distributed during actual wartime as they pretend to be in an exhibition and try to train close to actual combat.

I don’t have to worry too much about the expiration date, and there’s no idiot to steal emergency food, so I guess it’s enough for me to take care of it.

“Two boxes of jerky. One box of biscuits. One box of nuts.”

It’s emergency food anyway, so you don’t need a lot of it because it’s provided every time you enter a dungeon. I heard that it goes in twice a week, 2 days and 1 night. So what do you do on the rest of the day?

Are you going to torture like mental training like the military in your previous life?

This small dungeon, yet to be named, is said to have two floors, but it is said that a week is enough for a skilled dungeon explorer or adventurer.

If there are more traps or monsters in the dungeon, the exploration time will increase, but it seems to take that much on average.

Bamir informed me that it was not the concept of stamping one’s feet, but literally the time in the concept of conquering a dungeon.

So Bamir is said to be impossible to conquer even if students who are only beginners explore for a month.

“Raz. There’s nothing wrong.”

“There’s no one here either~”

“Do it right when you see it, son of a b*tch.”

First of all, I finished my investigation of the supplies that had arrived here, then returned to Bamir and finished my report. In the middle, Chad interrupted and reported the sloppy, but was kicked in the butt by Bamir.

“Okay. So far it’s okay. Everyone worked hard.”

Other Quartermasters returned similarly and reported to Bamir, and after reviewing the Quartermasters’ reports, Bamir comforted us with a satisfied face.

Even though it was just words, I was secretly happy that my hard work was acknowledged.

“Let’s eat first. I’m hungry.”

As usual, everyone was hungry as soon as they arrived. So, everyone was happy with Bamir’s words, and we went into our own little quarters built on one side of the distribution area.

Since the supply base is located a little far from the main unit, it is said that they installed it separately from the accommodation to the restaurant.

Surprisingly, 1 room for 1 person. Whether it was the distribution of the academy or the power of the empire, everyone was tongue-in-cheek at the amazing staff welfare.

When we entered the restaurant, we couldn’t help but be surprised once more.

I thought the rice would come out in moderation because it was a night battle, but compared to the meals I ate at the academy, the food was provided at a level that was not too bad.

Everyone blinked, as if doubting whether it was acceptable to eat such sumptuous food at camp.

As soon as I heard that the rice was made in bulk at the headquarters and then sent separately using a wagon, the memory of promoting the meal came to mind and I felt distressed for a while.

The damn army has not been forgotten even after crossing the world, and it has remained in my head and haunted me from time to time.

“Right now it’s just us and we’re not training, so it’s spacious. I’m sure every day will be hell after the students arrive. Everyone, stay alert and cheer up. Okay?”

The Quartermasters nodded at Bamir’s encouragement or nagging that started during the meal.

As we were eating our meal, the sun began to set before we knew it.

With a steep mountain standing right behind the supply base, and the trees so tall and thick, the sunlight seemed to disappear quickly.

After dinner, Chad, who was looking out the window after returning to his lodgings and resting for a while, said the saddest thing in the world.

“The carriage is coming.”

Sighs flow from here and there, and there is the sound of a pen or file folder being taken. Quartermasters have packed the necessary items, but haven’t gone out yet.

What everyone, including me, was waiting for was information on whose luggage the wagon was.

The wagon approaching this way rattled from time to time, bobbing up and down with brightly glowing torches.

The wagon that arrived at the checkpoint at the entrance of the supply base slowly approached the line of sight, and everyone remained silent.

“Oh.”

With Chad’s low profanity, the other supply officers dropped their luggage to the floor and lay down. Judging by Chad’s swearing, that wagon must be in Chad’s jurisdiction.

With the happy information that I don’t have to work yet, I fell to the floor and closed my eyes, sensing a shadow cast over me.

I slightly narrowed my right eye, and met Bamir and Chad’s eyes looking down at me.

It wasn’t a very nice scene to see the dull-looking men looking down at me and laughing wickedly.

I pretended not to see, pretended not to see, and closed my eyes. One of the two potatoes kicked me. And I felt the presence of someone approaching my ear.

Because he took a deep breath before he spoke, his breath touched his ears, and the unpleasant sensation made me shudder involuntarily.

Doha The breath of the Prius was warm and good.

I feel much better at the sight of the Doha Prius that immediately comes to mind. And that little happiness was shattered by Chad’s whispers.

“Chief Raj… It’s office hours. Wake up.”

“You need to get up, Quartermaster Raj.”

PTSD that relapsed thanks to Bamir and Chad who were f*cking on both sides in pairs.

I woke up in a fright at the familiar f*cking sentence and, unable to scream a word, was dragged outside like a pig being led to a slaughterhouse.
