Chapter 38: The Strengthening of the Bitter Thorn (Plus One)

Like the bite kale, the moment the talent was activated, three pictures corresponding to different enhancement effects appeared in front of Leonard’s eyes.

In the first picture, the seed of a bitter thorn was thrown into the soil, and in an instant the soil exploded, the emerald green thorns pricked out, and the flexible branches grew like a greedy giant snake chasing the fleeing animals, piercing them one after another on the thorns.

In just a few seconds, the emerald green branches spread more than ten meters away, and in this range without exception, every animal that was stabbed fell into a state of paralysis after a short struggle, and blood dripped down the thorns drop by drop to the soil seed.

Eventually the animals never woke up and remained in a coma until they lost too much blood and died.

And after all the animals died, this thorn with a huge spread quickly took shape, faded its turquoise color, and turned into gray hard dead branches, which could not be harmed by fire or knife slashing.

This first picture gave Leonard a lot of shock.

From the point of view of the effect, this seems to be a more extreme overgrowth, both the explosive speed and the death speed are much faster than the overgrowth of the combat system, and the rapidly spreading branches seem to pierce the body of the prey like sharp spears.

And it also retains the venom that has a powerful paralyzing effect, otherwise those animals would not have died of blood loss without a struggle.

As for the dead branches left behind, it is meaningless, the traces left behind are too distinctive and easy to be found.

“Super-high speed growth, chasing and piercing all life within range, this effect is a bit explosive.” Leonard sighed and decided to name the fortification product Piercing Gong.

It’s not that he wants to name every fortified plant, it’s just a feeling, and this method of chasing prey and piercing it to drain the blood and die is somewhat similar to the legendary Vlad III, the ancestor of the vampire.

The second picture is of a normally growing bitter thorn, each of its thorns secreting a transparent viscous liquid, which quickly evaporates as soon as it is secreted.

A beast passed by, smelled the evaporated gas, and passed out on the spot.

“Is this the effect of enhancing the liquid secretion of bitter thorns, making it change from paralysis to coma?” Leonard touched his chin and came to the conclusion.

The third picture is very simple and clear, originally just growing quietly in place, it has acquired the nature of being alive, and will actively wave thorns to catch approaching creatures.

It is not very aggressive, it just likes to throw anesthetized creatures in the dirt under its feet, and it will not be life-threatening.

But if no one cares, then this unfortunate creature can only rot into the nourishment of bitter thorns in infinite sleep.

“The three enhancement effects, corresponding to raids, assists and defenses, are quite useful, and different reinforcements can be selected in different environments.”

Leonard thought for a moment, chose the second enhancement effect, then used overgrowth, and then threw the seeds into the pot.

The moment the seed touches the soil, countless roots spread into the soil, and then an emerald thorn breaks through the soil, grows and sets at a speed visible to the naked eye, and grows from a seed to maturity in just a few minutes.

Soon, drops of viscous transparent liquid were secreted at its spike site, and Leonard saw this and quickly found an empty crystal bottle to pick up a little of this rapidly evaporating liquid.

He didn’t ignore the power of this powerful sleep aid, and Plant Friends only allowed him to gain the friendship of plants, not make him invincible.

After all, plants secrete toxins or harmful substances instinctively, and they can control themselves from harming Leonard, but they cannot prevent these substances from causing harm to Leonard.

This is also a reminder from Ollivander to Leonard.

Leonard held his breath, and after filling three crystal bottles, the fortified thorn formed by the overgrowth withered and dissipated, probably because of the collection, it did not even leave a single malnourished seed.

The only proof of its existence is that the three bottles in Leonard’s hand were filled with something I don’t know if they were liquids or gases.

“The volatile gas of the strong lethargy effect, this thing should come in handy sooner or later, if it doesn’t work, sell it to Midgard to see if she needs to use it.” Leonard shook the crystal bottle and looked at the swirling mixture inside, and put it away with satisfaction.

This thing is simply a must-have for picking locks and robbing homes.

Leonard liked the bitter thorn seed that Ollivander sent, and each of the three strengthening effects was of great use.

Used as a piercing male for raids, as a sleepy secretion for picking locks through slips, as an active stance for botanical garden defense, one plant solved most of Leonard’s troubles.

“Just pick a hidden place at Hogwarts and plant a circle of bitter thorns, then my garden will be stable.” Leonard thought excitedly.

The only trouble is that you need to go around often, lest unlucky eggs accidentally enter and turn into fertilizer.
