Chapter 83 - Argument

“Oh, and you asked, how could I consider the world where my loved one lives as savage? Oh, Ella. Have you been reading too many romance novels? I thought you were busy studying to become the crown princess. Why would I think everything about the one I fell in love with to be beautiful?”

Clara looked at Ella as if she was looking at a 17-year-old innocent girl. She was sympathetic but also a bit envious. Her expression was a mixture of many emotions, but what seemed to be the most prevalent was the arrogance of looking down on someone.

“I used to believe in such a thing once. But Ella, love doesn’t conquer all. People are very selfish and ugly. A man lives alone and dies alone in the end.”

Clara’s face grimaced as she finished. The things that happened before she was sent here overwhelmed her. The vengeful thoughts came back to her, igniting her rage, ‘I hate this world! Why is it always me?!’

She was sent here right before she was about to have her revenge, which devastated her. If there was a being similar to Princess Rylien here, then her problem might have been resolved. However, this idiotic world didn’t even have such a being.

‘I’m sick and tired of this world!’

If she knew that the book, which was her only comfort, came back to her as a curse, she would never have laid her hands on it. She regretted it, but it was too late. With regret, she remembered the devastation she felt when she was thrown into this world.

She was even more crazed to face Clara’s situation, which was almost the same as hers. She wished to share her secret, but there was no one. Xyle, with whom she wished to share her secret, declined and stood by that lucky girl’s side.

‘The only one who listens to my stories is the Princess.’

Clara thought of Princess Rylien, who she had seen for the last time before she was dragged into this novel. Even with the continuous visits of the commoners, she stood tall with a smile, kindly greeting all with the help of the spirit Kazuha. That sight left a deep trace in her mind.

‘If only I were braver a little bit earlier, maybe I would have lived a different life. I wouldn’t have had to drink that poisonous goblet that my sister gave me before her ambassadors arrived.’

But it was too late to regret. Why does regret always come so late?

‘I will regret no more. I won’t give myself the chance to regret.’

Clara clenched her two fists. She didn’t want to give up for someone else and be a sidekick to let others shine anymore. She decided to grab what was best for her and take it instead of being taken from.

Her face, which had a mixture of longing, adoration, and regret, returned to reality as her two eyes opened. Clara then made the face of an antagonist that she almost felt familiar with and glared at Ella.

Ella felt Clara’s hostility now was even clearer than the animosity she had when Clara had entered the room. Then she thought, ‘What? What’s with that hostility?’

It was different from her eyes which seemed to have some stories behind them. Maybe something happened in her world that made her act insane like this. Something that led her to believe that all people are selfish and ugly.

‘But. I don’t want to know!’

She shook away her curiosity. Ella heard enough stories. It was uncomfortable the more she understood, and her anger that lost its destination came back to her, who wasn’t at fault. They were glaring at each other and smiling at the same time as if they had planned it. Their fierce standoff ended quite blandly.

Ella smiled kindly and nodded to signal her to speak as she thought, ‘I’ll cut her off if she starts talking about her story, and if she starts talking nonsense, I’ll just listen as if it’s her last words.’

It was a final favor to give to a foreigner like herself, although she was from a different world. Clara didn’t know what Ella was thinking, so she made a victorious look and spoke.

“I understood why you accepted Cladis back while I was thinking about what happened in my home world. But do you think the future you’ll spend with him will be happy? Think for yourself. Do not be controlled by your unconsciousness. You don’t need to become the crown princess like this world wants you to be. Be yourself and try harder with your own will. I’m sure you can conquer your own destiny. Ella, you hate the word destiny, don’t you?”

That was reality, and this was inside a book.

‘She’s giving me advice, thinking that I’m a character from the book, and believes that I shouldn’t be tied to the story.’

Ella felt like bullying Clara for arrogantly advising her, thinking that she was the only human with free will here. ‘I’m sorry, but I’m a foreigner just like you.’

Ella was still inside Luciella’s body that kept her within the storyline, but she was already full of free will without needing Clara to tell her. She was going to escape from the destiny of becoming the crown princess without Clara telling her. But she didn’t want to inform her of this, which she must be dying to know.
