Chapter 46: Commute

Fang Zheng was holding onto his phone while he focused his stare on that picture with both of his eyes.

He would never make the mistake of misidentifying anyone!

Amongst the secret service agents those countries had deployed, there were a few members who were quite well known within the team in charge of the evacuation. These people would shine brightly as if the entire moon were buried in sand and they were a torch under the shroud of the night sky. They stood out like a sore thumb.

Only people who had been through training would have nourished such excellence within themselves. Between these trained people, they would be attracted to one another like magnets and would have no issue in detecting the other person’s distinct aura. Fang Zheng could tell with a single glance that these people’s auras were exactly the same as those people from the Supernatural Investigation Bureau.

Hence, he felt that his scalp was about to explode in that instant.

Evacuation…

The Supernatural Investigation Bureau…

The ancient Greek temple…

All of the tourism programs that were halted locally…

Fang Zheng frowned as he contemplated deeply.

Even when one was a civilian, this single setback alone would be a throbbing pain to his testicles. Unable to get his hands on any form of information, he lifted his head as high as possible but was only able to look at the bare opening of that well.

Thus, Fang Zheng continued scrolling through the online forums, but there were no posts in that forum that yielded anything of value. He assumed that any worthwhile posts were taken down way before since the ‘Error 404′ message was shown.

After scrolling through for about twenty to thirty minutes, Fang Zheng decided to put his phone down as he proceeded to massage his solar plexus.

Spending long hours with his head down while being glued to his phone was apparently not a good habit.

However, this whole evacuation ordeal had once again reminded Fang Zheng that he could never allow himself to succumb to instant glory and wealth since that would only incite feelings of greed and shallow desires.

Chaos had robbed this world of its peace.

Peace and order in the world was maintained through the collective efforts of all countries. If that were the case, it was imperative that these efforts were developed, and deployed early, in order to prevent greater chaos and calamity of a supernatural nature in the future.

Fang Zheng took out his locally manufactured smartphone to access the search engine.

After that, he searched for the online store by typing in the search bar, [Library of The Grand Martial Elder].

Fang Zheng asked, [Grand Martial Elder, the Secret Edict of Spiritual Martial Arts that you’ve promised to look for me before, do you have it?]

There was no reply from the Grand Martial Elder even after waiting for four whole days.

Ding…

The autoreply message read, [This shop’s courier is on its way.]

Fang Zheng was speechless.

The Library of The Grand Martial Elder replied, [My apologies to have you, my dear customer, to have waited so long. I’ve spent the last few days asking a few friends to search for it, and finally they’ve found the Secret Edict of Spiritual Martial Arts for you, dear buddy. So confirm with me here buddy, you actually really want this Secret Edict of Spiritual Martial Arts right?

[Since this correlates to the weakest part of the human brain, no ordinary person would buy something like that…]

Fang Zheng replied, [Not a problem, don’t worry about it since I’ve previously bought twelve rare manuscripts from you. I was very satisfied with the training results. Hence, my return to you as your customer.]

The Library of The Grand Martial Elder simply replied, [???]

[Buddy, were you scammed online?]

Fang Zheng was confused.

The Library of The Grand Martial Elder continued, [Here’s my disclaimer. This Secret Edict of Spiritual Martial Arts is extraordinarily unique, so if there are any unfortunate accidents that happened after training, my establishment will not be responsible for that liability.]

Thus, he was quick to make arrangements with the boss for the courier delivery time. It would be sent out on that day and would be delivered to him the very next day.

However, Fang Zheng had once again started pestering. He emphasized how urgent it was to him and should really have it sent out today.

At the same time, he proceeded to pick a couple of physical training rare manuscripts.

Of course, everything that was said to him, including the rare manuscripts, were all fake! These were all fake!

He had reemphasized every important detail thrice.

However, the moment before Fang Zheng had exited his cellphone app, a news headline was updated on his phone.

[Tongjiang Bridge had resumed operations.]

Fang Zheng was shocked and proceeded to open up the news link and skimmed over it hastily. However, he was flooded by news of government officials’ endorsement. The only news he was looking for was the news about the reopening of Tongjiang Bridge…

He had spent the last couple of days in self-contained isolation. There was plenty of news out there and it was completely unreachable to him, hence he was unaware of the changes and events that had happened on the outside.

Since there were headlines of government officials’ endorsement, it seemed extremely likely that this news was real. Since if they were not a hundred percent certain, Tongjiang bridge would never be reopened, because if any unfortunate incident were to occur again the backlash would involve even more people from different levels of rank.

Since that explosion that very night, the harrowing screams of agony were still extremely fresh in everyone’s memories.

Get out.

Call a cab.

After about thirty to forty minutes, the cab had brought him to the very end of Tongjiang Bridge. Fang Zheng still had not collected any Gray Qi.

It seemed even the officials from the Supernatural Investigation Bureau would find it difficult to look for even a single hint of a person.

The explosion that happened a few days ago that was silenced by every media was swiftly picked up again by all sorts of gossip centered media and as a result, any fresh news updates would be buried at the very bottom of the news, causing the majority of the public to forget about the incident which happened a few days ago.

The cab had finally crossed Tongjiang Bridge and was gradually closing in on Zhou City’s border. Hence, the cab made a turn and returned to Zhou City.

It was when the cab had turned around and when Fang Zheng was able to see how wide the city was that he felt a sudden shiver.

“Even within the city, supernatural occurrences were happening at an increased rate. It was also to the extent of manifesting an Undead King. If that was the case, what would be happening in the rural villages in Zhou City and the mountainous village.”

A wave of cold washed over Fang Zheng’s heart when he thought about that.

As he thought about the night of the Blue Moon, he noticed a post made by an online poster…

There was a bride who had died mysteriously that lived in the mountains. She was eerily found lying in someone else’s coffin…

Fang Zheng suddenly felt oddly suffocated from the roots of his heart. He felt pressured and heavy as if a huge boulder was weighing on his chest. He felt suffocated and was unable to breathe.

As he contemplated during the entire journey, the scenery outside the windows flashed by him.

As the cab reentered the city, he was still feeling slightly suffocated and tense. Thus, Fang Zheng told the cab to stop at the halfway point of the street. He wanted to walk home in order to lift his spirit.

It was now approaching dusk at this very moment and the skies were now beginning to dim. The colors of the clouds in the sky resembled the tone of fresh blood—crimson red…crimson red.

Warmth was non-existent at dusk, only the feeling of a cold breeze.

However, Fang Zheng had a few black bold lines drawn on his forehead as he frowned; the cab driver had dropped him off at the main entrance of a foot massage parlor.

Fang Zheng who felt tensed earlier instantly thought about the happy ending romance scene for a hundred Yuan.

[We met on the streets. I walked by her house back then and as I glanced over to her, her gaze met mine, in that single instant I knew I had fallen for her. Thus, I went over to her house to spend half an hour with her, but I soon realized we weren’t suitable for each other, and hence, we had broken up. I proceeded to hand her a hundred Yuan as a breakup fee…]

It was at this moment, Fang Zheng’s cell phone suddenly rang.

Based on the caller’s ID, it clearly showed rich man Dong who had not spoken to him for a couple of days.

“Fang Fang, the group acting for that movie I’ve mentioned back then, I’ve…”

A long beep could be heard and Fang Zheng had a bitter look on his face as he instantly hung up.

“Assh*le, don’t hang up…”

Another long beep could be heard.

“I’ll send the exact address to you through Wechat. The location is pretty far. It’s a water tower in the mountainous area!” Rich man Dong had finally learned how to be smart, this time he had managed to not beat around the bush as he directly spoke his mind whilst gritting his teeth.
