Sun Yushu’s family home was located in the expensive town center.

Going there by bike required over ten minutes.

It was late at night. There were few pedestrians and cars—no traffic.

The duo was engaged in a discussion on their way and the speed of the motorbike went up to about 60 or 70 kilometers per hour. However, an unexpected incident happened when they were about to arrive at the town center.

There was a roadblock to check on anyone who was drunk driving.

It was not easy for the traffic police to do this. They were working extra shifts in the cold night for the public’s safety.

Thumbs up to the traffic police!

Fang Zheng was riding the bike illegally. He felt guilty for exactly half a second but saving one’s life was more important! He then made a detour, taking the flyover heading toward town center.

The sounds of the Yamaha’s revved engine rang through the night—the traffic police had already spotted Fang Zheng.

However, they did not act rashly. They divided themselves into two teams to discreetly trap the bike on the bridge.

“Hold tight,” Fang Zheng said calmly to Sun Yushu in the backseat.

“Huh?” Sun Yushu did not realize what was happening.

In the next second!

The traffic policemen had their eyes and mouths wide open. The bike picked up its speed up all of a sudden, and before they knew it…they witnessed an unforgettable moment.

The Yamaha bike flew!

F*ck!

It was flying! The Yamaha, which had been going at 60 or 70 kilometers per hour, took off as if it weighed nothing and flew over a one-meter high barrier. This moment played out like a slow-motion movie scene where time stopped and the air froze.

Silence!

Shocking!

On top of the traffic police, the drivers on both sides of the road also witnessed the extraordinary moment.

This terrifying moment shook people to the core.

Was a movie being shot?

Was that a stunt double?

After the bike landed, it circled in place for a while to ease the impact before the pedal was stepped on. It was like a beast was unleashed. It went high speed against the traffic and avoided cars narrowly before getting onto the highway.

No one was calm watching this action movie-like stunt happen in real life.

There was recent news about a movie being directed by a famous international director with an A-list cast. Named The 12-Hour Defence Crisis, it was an action movie with strong marketing at the moment—were the rumors true that they were coming to the Zhou City to film it?

‘Sh*t!

‘Am I going to be in a movie?

‘Wait, I’ll have to drive civilly, I can’t embarrass the country.

‘Wait, no, I’m too nervous for someone who has been driving for 20 years. How can I forget how to drive wisely? First, a recall…both hand on the wheel, go easy on the pedal, don’t go over the speed limit, don’t overtake any cars, drive under 30 kilometers per hour, and switch lanes in a civil way.

‘First, use the signal—1, 2, 3 seconds—then switch lanes.

‘One slap onto the missus’ face in the passenger seat—stop playing with your phone, take that stocking-clad leg off the dashboard, we’re driving like good civilians.

‘Wait.

‘Shouldn’t there be cameras, gliders, directors, producers, and the crew if there was a movie being filmed?’

There was barely a pedestrian, let alone a camera.

The drivers were confused.

The Waterfront Garden was a high-end residential area in the town center—the prices had already gone up to 40 thousand yuan per square meter a few years ago.

With Sun Yushu’s presence, the duo got into the area easily.

After they parked the bike and removed their helmets, Sun Yushu was about to rush into the house anxiously.

He was stopped by Fang Zheng.

Fang Zheng explained to a confused Sun Yushu, “Call aunty and confirm the situation. Is it safe now? What’s going on inside?

“If we just rush in knowing nothing, we might end up getting trapped rather than saving people.”

Fang Zheng recognized that he was no saint himself.

He was afraid of death too.

He only had one life.

Before confirming the safety of the situation, he would not be too compassionate for a stranger and rush to the front lines.

That was not righteousness.

That would be ashes in the eyes of the public.

Thankfully, Sun Yushu was also clear that Fang Zheng was his only savior at the moment. He dialed a number with his trembling fingers.

Du, du…

The call was answered. Sun Yushu shouted anxiously, “Mom! Are you alright?”

The man began crying as he said, “Mmhmm!” a few times over the phone before hanging up.

Fang Zheng knew that Sun Yushu’s mother was safe for now without him saying it.

“There’s only me, my mom, and Zheng Mei at home. My dad went to a northern province with a few technicians from his factory a week ago. They’re purchasing a batch of important machines, and they’re not back yet,” Sun Yushu said while looking pitifully at Fang Zheng.

Zheng Mei was the woman Sun Yushu had been talking about.

Fang Zheng knew that Sun Yushu was pushing him. He nodded and agreed to leave. However, just as they were about to enter the building, Fang Zheng felt a sharp gaze from his back.

He looked up at the building.

A woman was standing on the balcony of a unit watching Fang Zheng and Sun Yushu calmly. Her eyes were as lifeless as fisheyes.

Sun Yushu turned pale. He could barely utter the words he wanted to say while he was shivering in shock.

Zheng Mei!!

Fang Zheng guessed who the woman was based on Sun Yushu’s response.

Sixth floor.

When the lift doors opened, the light of the corridor flickered—but it did not go out.

Fang Zheng stood in the lift and took a sniff of the air.

“Do you smell something earthy mixed with something that smells like a dead fish coming from the corridor?” Fang Zheng asked Sun Yushu, who was pale and hiding behind his back.

Sun Yushu shook his head in fear. He was terrified and asked what was wrong.

Fang Zheng frowned. “Forget it, let’s go.”

Fang Zheng walked out of the lift. Sun Yushu did not dare to stay back alone, he ran after Fang Zheng.

The nearer they got to the apartment of Sun Yushu’s mother, Fang Zheng felt the earthy smell, mixed with what smelled like a dead fish, was getting stronger. It was pungent when they arrived at her door.

“Are you sure you can’t smell anything bad?” Fang Zheng reconfirmed with Sun Yushu.

Sun Yushu did not smell anything at all.

“Who knows if I’m looking for trouble myself,” Fang Zheng mumbled softly.

Dong!

Dong, dong!

He knocked on the door with his index finder. Psst! It felt electric and cold the moment his skin touched the door.
