God's Dynasty

Chapter 11 - A Night Visit to a Local Gang

Ryan knew how to handle thieves during his time as a mercenary. All you had to do is find a large gang within the city and beat them up to tell them who stole the handkerchief.

However, because of this sort of thing is the reason why not many people have accepted the quest yet.

To intimidate thugs, you gotta have at least five or six mercenaries to band together to get what you need without fighting and even then there was no guarantee that these were the thieves with the handkerchief anyway causing the ones who do have it to flee.

Take into account that the gang might hold a grudge on you making it much more difficult to walk around the street without fear of being stabbed.

Ryan was at a level where he could handle five mercenaries with ease, so the quest itself wasn't that difficult if all goes to plan.

"Alright, I accept. Did anyone take the quest other than me?"

"You know I can't tell you that right?"

"Tsk."

After nodding his head, Ryan threw all the money he had on him to the innkeeper.

"Hm? What's this?"

"Light meal and a room, I need sleep."

The innkeeper looked at Ryan before shaking his head and taking the coins from the table.

Later in the afternoon, after a light meal Ryan slept in the bed on the second floor to recover his fatigue.

As night went by, Ryan got up from his bed before leaving the inn with only a single dagger on him.

Because it was night, there were not many people on the street. There were a few guards with torches however most haven't lit them yet.

Avoiding the gaze of the guards, Ryan entered the back alley.

Darkness engulfed his entire body before he began his plan.

It was impossible for him to meet a large gang straight away in Beret. It was a big city-state, and very prosperous too which means that the gangs that are in charge were by no means weak.

The smallest organization from Ryan's estimate would be around twenty members, and the largest could be hundreds.

"Sir! There is a small kid coming over to the alley for the first time."

In a small corner within the back alley, Hanz and Rembert, two men leading the Steel Fist gang were in a corner discussing plans. The Steel Fist gang would be considered very small within Beret, and some might say they aren't even a gang at all.

Hanz glared at his subordinate who gave him the news before looking in the distance to see a handsome young kid with dark blue hair and golden eyes walking towards them. It wasn't something you'd see often around Beret, maybe it was a foreigner?

He gave that impression even more when he realized the kid could not see a single weapon on the kid.

"Rob the kid?"

"Well…"

After thinking for awhile, Rembert nodded his head.

THese days, because of the war between Beret and Maram the atmosphere within the city wasn't great. The rent went up and many thieves couldn't survive due to less people on the streets.

The two men slowly approached the boy.

BANG! SMACK!

The men who approached the boy were beaten in a matter of seconds and they both knelt on the ground before vomiting.

Rembert couldn't even see that Ryan had aimed at their vital points precisely but he knew his men lost to the kid.

"No way, these guys lost to the kid!?"

The men to the left and right of Rembert jumped up before approaching the boy.

Ryan ignored them and stared at Rembert as if looking at an item.

"Oi, I need your help"

Rembert and his men who heard Ryan's word looked at him before laughing out loud.

"What? You want me to help you?"

"If you don't want help me you'll end up like the ones that are vomiting on the ground. Don't taste my patience."

Rembert shook his heads at the outrageous remarks. But before he could say anything he did not realize it but his face met a knee out of no where.

"Sit the fuċk down"

**

"I have called them all for you."

With a disfigured face, Rembert began summoning all of his lackeys, all of them being orphans, that he was managing.

Most of them were under the age of twelve, if they were younger than that then they wouldn't be able to steal efficiently.

The orphans looked at Ryan who looked to be not as old as their leader with awe, as Ryan was treating Rembert as if he was in charge.

"Any of you kids stole a Handkerchief?"

When no-one answered Ryan's question, he kicked Rembert's leg causing Rembert to fall down.

"SHIT SPEAK QUICKLY YOU BASTARDS, YOU'VE SEEN A HANDKERCHIEF?!"

"Don't shout idiot." Ryan kicked him again.

After a while, no one spoke.

"Anyone know anyone or anything that might be related to a handkerchief? If I find it, ill reward you."

Having said that, he took out a piece of bread from his pocket. A dull, hard, tasteless cheap bread.

The eyes of the kids began to shine, and suddenly one of the kids raised his hands.

"I don't have it but I've heard of it"

"Hm? Speak?"

"Last time the kids under Damion said they did a big steal and got some servant's bag."

"…"

The innkeeper did say the client was an imperial citizen meaning that if you came from that far it means you are rich. Being rich also meant having servants.

After nodding his head, he threw the piece of bread to the kid.

"Eat."

"THANKS!"

The kid swallowed the bread in a hurry, fearing that he might lose it. All the kids looked skinny, and watching someone eat in front of them made them feel uncomfortable, but they could not do anything as Ryan was still here.

Frowning, Ryan gave an order to Rembert.

"Guide me to where this Damion guy is."

"Ah, but that might be an issue sadly. He is abit hard to reach."

"Why?"

"He's got more than 25 men under him, compared to us he is in the big leagues."

As Rembert began telling Ryan all he knew on Damion, Ryan understood what he was dealing with.

Damion is a venomous and cruel gangster, and doesn't hesitates to kill. In addition, there have been rumors of human trafficking done by his gang.

At Rembert's words, Ryan shook his head in thought.

If they were 25 men, then they weren't something Ryan could just walk into and beat down. There might be some killing involved, which could mean the guards might intervene.

'Still, a job is a job.'

"Alright, take me to them."

"Please, sir! Give me some face here, I can't do this I-"

Ryan who saw Rembert's shaky expression pulled out a dagger and aimed it on his neck. Rembert then let out a groan of terror.

"I came here to find something, and you guys tried to rob me so take me to them. Or else, your life is mine."

"Okay okay, I'll guide you!"

Rembert swallowed his spit in fright.

'Why did I try rob this guy!'

The kid looks young yet it was very clear he was experienced. Every act of intimidation Ryan has done was skillful, and a murderous intent was always present.

The moment he tried to do anything, he knew that his life might be over.

'Fuck, let's take him there then.'
