Woo’s Orphanage, an established orphanage in London.

It is a square building surrounded by high balustrades, and the interior looks shabby, but very neat and spotless.

The orphanage is no longer known, and despite its long history, there is nothing more to commend than that it has produced famous businessmen, politicians or scholars, nor has it attracted more donors or well-wishers to adopt.

It was just an ordinary, dilapidated orphanage on the verge of bankruptcy, and Mrs. Gary, the manager, was just an ordinary old woman.

Yet this orphanage, on the other side of the world, has an extraordinary reputation in a society that is inaccessible to mortals, and this reputation must be even louder from today onwards.

Just today, June 11, 1991, the orphanage welcomed a special guest.

“Knock knock—”

A knock on the door reached Mrs. Gary’s ears.

Nestled in the recliner, she put down the needle and thread in her hand and hurried towards the door.

“On such a rainy day, who would visit such an old orphanage?”

Puzzled, she took an old black umbrella on the shelf at the door, stretched it out and walked towards the gate.

Standing in the doorway was an old man, tall, thin, with long silver hair and a silver beard that reached his waist, and outside his robe, the old man wore a purple cloak and a dirty black umbrella. The robe was already soaked, and the half-moon-shaped glasses were full of water droplets.

Mrs. Gary was 60 years old, but she felt that the old man was much older than her, but surprisingly, the old man old enough to be her father (in Mrs. Gary’s eyes) looked much more energetic than her, and his beautiful blue eyes were full of bright life.

“Oh, come in,” Mrs. Gary hurriedly pulled out a large key from the key ring, and laboriously opened the somewhat rusty door of the orphanage, “The weather has been really bad lately, and the children’s clothes have not dried for two days. ”

“That’s not it,” the old man echoed, following Mrs. Gary into the main entrance of the orphanage. He looked around, and a trace of nostalgia flashed in his eyes.

“It’s not changed at all, it’s still so neat,” he lamented.

“Of course,” Mrs. Gary pulled out a clean towel from the cupboard and handed it to the wet old man, proudly saying, “this has always been the case here, and although we cannot provide rich living conditions, we will still do our best to give our children a good living environment, starting with Mrs. Cole.” Unfortunately, not many people will come to our aid, and not many people will come to the aid of these little pitifuls. Saying that, the old woman with a broken mouth couldn’t help but complain again.

“Have you been here before? I don’t seem to remember you. She was a little curious.

“Oh, that was many years ago,” the old man recalled, “about fifty-seven… Or fifty-eight years? I don’t remember exactly, but it was Mrs. Cole who received me, and she helped me a lot. ”

“Then you’re probably in your 80s, right?” Mrs. Gary asked casually as she opened her way to make tea for the guests.

“Believe me, I’m older than you think,” the old man finally dried his beard and hair with a towel, and then started talking with the somewhat lonely old woman.

After a while, the old woman, who had satisfied her desire to chat, remembered to get down to business: “So, this gentleman, you… Oh, what a faux pas, I actually forgot to ask your name. ”

“Albus, Albus Dumbledore,” replied the old man, “I am the principal of a private school by profession, and I came here to find a boy named Ting Ye. ”

“Oh, Ting Ye” mentioned this name, the old woman’s cloudy eyes seemed to light up for a moment, “Little Ting Ye is our pride here, there is no smarter and more sensible child than him, I watched this child grow up, I have seen all kinds of mischievous little pitiful, you know, my profession is like this, but I have never seen such a smart and sensible little adult again.” ”

Mrs. Gary’s face revealed incomparable pride and joy, and she chattered and introduced, “Xiao Tingye can talk when she is 1 year old. He hasn’t cried with us since, whether it’s being hungry or being bullied by older kids, he tries hard to face it alone, oh, he’s such a strong kid. ”

Madame Gary filled Dumbledore with black tea and continued: “This kid is lovely to read, since he can read words, newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, novels… He looks at everything. This kid has a smart brain, learns quickly, and can read newspapers fluently at the age of 3…”

As if introducing another proud grandson, the old woman spent a long time to introduce this 10-year-old boy named “Ting Ye”, Dumbledore listened patiently, and gradually had a basic impression of this child: smart, sensible, studious, hardworking, kind, etc., although he knew that there was more or less subjective favoritism of the old woman, but this impression was generally perfect.
