Game’s Dogma

Chapter 161: Those Who Look Down On Others Look Down On Themselves

Cheung Fung sighed in relief. There was finally someone whom he could chat with freely. He chatted about stuff in the game with Shue Ching, whose in-game name was Idyllic Poet, while waiting for the party to commence.

His male colleagues’ eyes almost fell out when they saw such an alluring woman sitting next to the ordinary-looking Cheung Fung. After a round of gossiping, they told the fat lady about it in secret.

The fat lady was a senior in the company and was also Cheung Fung’s immediate supervisor. After hearing about it, she snickered and said, ‘How could that beggar possibly hit on someone?’

Her stupefied look when she saw Cheung Fung was a sight to behold.

‘Ahem… Cheung Fung, how about an introduction?’

Cheung Fung sent a weird glance at the fat lady before glancing at Shue Ching, who then extended her slim hand to greet the fat lady.

‘Hello, I’m the secretary of Mr Wong from Lei Tat Company and also Fung’s girlfriend.’

The fat lady almost choked on her tongue. While Lei Tat Company wasn’t a huge corporation, it was still on a much larger scale than their tiny company from the Ninth City.

‘Ah… Cough… Not bad, Fung’s got a good girlfriend. Fung, I’m not blaming you or anything, but you’ve got to pay attention to your behaviour. Today’s an important day for our company.’

The party was just a front. The main focus of the day was the announcement of the authorised distributors of Ki Industries, leading corporation of the wood product industry, for the next five years. There were only five authorised distributors, yet representatives from over thirty companies were present. Everyone was battling for a precious spot among the five.

‘Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the annual celebration of Ki Industries! Now, let us invite the successor of Ki Industries, Ki Shing Chi, onto stage for a speech.’

When Ki Shing Chi stepped onto the stage, Shue Ching and Cheung Fung laughed dryly. Who would’ve thought that Sasaki was the heir of Ki Industries?

Ki Shing Chi’s speech was a short one. It was obvious he wasn’t a tad bit interested in such occasions. Even so, his presence was necessary—because his dad hated them even more. All his dad wanted to do was stay at home, taking care of plants while listening to songs. His dad also had a weird taste for music; he apparently listened to songs by Jay Chou who was from who knew how many years ago. Ki Shing Chi couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, though he thought the songs were still pretty decent.

While Ki Shing Chi was going on with his boring speech, he suddenly noticed a man and woman waving at him in a corner.

‘Thank you.’

Ki Shing Chi left the stage. Everyone gave him a standing applause—even when the dumbest person could tell it was nothing but a recited speech.

Many tried to get close to Ki Shing Chi. He was Ki Industries’ successor! Just getting acquainted with him meant succeeding on the most part!

However, Ki Shing Chi kept a warm but not overly gentle smile while pushing his way through the crowd and headed for a particular corner.

The fat lady got anxious. Why’d he go over to the shameful guy of their company!

Hold on…

The fat lady stood still. Did the young master of Ki Industries set his eyes on that guy’s woman?

Her mind subconsciously acknowledged her thoughts as a fact. With super speed, she reached Cheung Fung before Ki Shing Chi and whispered to him, ‘Fung, if the young master wants your woman… You know what to do, don’t you? You’ll climb up the ranks once you get us the authorised distributor license. If you fail… better pack things up and leave tomorrow!’

Startled at first, Cheung Fung then sent her a cold glare. ‘Watch your words.’

The fat lady was just as startled. ‘Huh? Acting like a big shot already? Did you forget who hired you? Without the company, you’d be begging on the streets long ago!’

Shue Ching’s gaze was similarly cold; she had never seen such a shameless person. It was the way of this world, especially when the living conditions between cities differed so greatly. Everyone would do anything and everything in order to immigrate to a better city.

But that didn’t include Cheung Fung.

Ki Shing Chi was already approaching them with a beaming smile on his face.

‘How did you two end up here?’

Cheung Fung hid his cold glare, stood up, and hugged dialledKi Shing Chi. The fat lady, along with all of his colleagues were absolutely stunned by the scene.

The ordinary Cheung Fung who was looked down on by everyone…

Even Nga Wun dropped her jaw to the floor.

Everyone’s focus was on Ki Shing Chi even after he left the stage. When he headed for the corner, Nga Wun already had a hunch that something was wrong. However, when she truly saw Ki Shing Chi hug Cheung Fung, the man whom she had ditched and abandoned, her mind exploded like an atomic bomb had gone off.

Cheung Fung chortled and said, ‘What else but to get your company’s authorised distributor license? Both our companies are relying on you to feed us all!’

Ki Shing Chi also laughed. ‘That’s easy.’

He turned around to say something to the manager behind him. The manager smiled and went to talk with the two’s bosses directly.

Everyone’s minds were blown. The authorised distributor license that everyone was scrambling for—the inconspicuous man got two licenses with just a few words!

Cheung Fung’s boss, having received the great news, jumped up in joy, while those around him all sent him envious gazes. He also didn’t forget to thank Cheung Fung with a grateful look.

‘Let’s talk somewhere else, it’s a bit stifling here,’ Cheung Fung suggested, to which Ki Shing Chi and Shue Ching both nodded.

‘How about my place? It’s quiet over there.’ He then led the way. Shue Ching followed along while saying in a flirty tone, ‘Don’t bring me somewhere weird, okay?’

Ki Shing Chi made a wry smile. This witch gave everyone in Howl of the Tempest Wolves a headache.

‘Don’t worry, I’ll abduct anyone but you, big sis Ching.’

When the three were having a light-hearted chit-chat, what he just said was shocking. Even those from Shue Ching’s company were rendered speechless.

Just who on earth was Shue Ching when even Ki Shing Chi had to call her ‘big sis’?

The two followed Ki Shing Ching over to his office. Rather than an office, it was more like an apartment because he now resided within Ki Industries, and the entire floor was his. They all slumped onto the soft sofa.

‘Guess I’ll quit,’ Shue Ching growled. ‘Didn’t know little Ki’s such a big shot. Now the whole company’s scared of me, it’s no fun at all.’

Ki Shing Chi and Cheung Fung sent glances at one another as cold sweat dripped on their backs.

For fun? Why’re you even going to work!

Shue Ching lazily plucked out her phone and dialed a number. Moments later…

‘What’s the matter?’

Hearing the voice on the other end, Cheung Fung and Ki Shing Chi both tensed up. The voice… belonged to their boss.

Drako Yau was also surprised that Idyllic Poet would suddenly call him. As the game’s phone was connected to the actual world, it was a tool that connected both worlds.

‘Boss, I’m quitting my full-time job. You’ll have to pay me more.’

Cheung Fung and Ki Shing Chi sweated even more. Was that how an employee should ask for a pay rise?

But their boss was a weirdo too.

‘Alright, name a price and we’ll go with that.’
