Chapter 154: Sasaki’s Strength

Forward Track.

It was a skill that allowed the caster to slide forwards for a certain distance, similar to the Level 5 skill Slide. However, being a Level 20 Blade Master skill, its effects weren’t limited to movement. While Slide only provided mobility for closing in or pulling away from enemies, Forward Track had an additional effect.

‘Slide a certain distance at the specified direction and increase attack speed by 20 per cent for 5 seconds. After using Fast Track, the next skill used will deal 20 per cent more damage.’

After Sasaki used Forward Track, he drew his katana from its sheath with his right hand at lightning speed.

Lunging Eagle!

His katana emerged from its sheath like an eagle lunging at a rabbit.

It was the Level 20 skill of the Aerial Breaker branch. The skill had no effect whatsoever apart from dealing a great deal more damage. Right now, Lunging Eagle was under Forward Track’s 20 per cent damage buff as well!

Clang!

Their swords clashed against one another.

Mori Ranmaru’s composure faltered the moment their swords came into contact.

Such power!

It wasn’t only about Sasaki’s strength. Speaking of Sasaki, you could call him an extremist. As a melee fighter, he didn’t invest any of his attribute points into Constitution and instead distributed three points into Strength and two points into Dexterity.

It made him suffer in terms of Health and Defence. In return, however, he gained great strength and agility!

Lunging Eagle was the skill that could deal the most damage in Sasaki’s repertoire at Level 27. It was because the skill was plainly an unsheathing strike without any additional effects, but it was also for this reason that it dealt incomparable damage.

Added with Forward Track’s buff, Mori Ranmaru was already at a disadvantage after their first exchange of swords. Unbeknownst to others, his hands were numb and trembling.

But Mori Ranmaru had no way out. His lord was witnessing the fight. He could only die gloriously in battle and never surrender! Reaching such a conclusion, Mori Ranmaru shouted, shrouding his katana in a bright aura. He knew his opponent was powerful; he had to go all out.

‘Enough.’

Oda Nobunaga’s voice reverberated throughout the room. With a wave of his hand, Mori Ranmaru’s sword energy was forcefully dispersed, but Drako Yau furrowed his brows at the scene.

Dispersed? No, looks more like devoured.

‘It’s just a spar, don’t get serious. You all have proved your strength. Noh, Ranmaru, settle them down. Also, bring them some clothes. Their attire looks awful.’

Lady Noh said gently, ‘Lord Nobunaga does not require my service?’

Oda Nobunaga shook his head and focused his gaze on the giant Buddha statue.

‘There are things I have to ponder about. You may all take your leave.’

Under Lady Noh and Mori Ranmaru’s guidance, they arrived at a spacious room. Idyllic Poet, somewhat dissatisfied, said, ‘I’m a maiden, why do I have to share a room with a bunch of men?’

Lady Noh covered her mouth and chuckled. ‘Or perhaps, you wish to spend the night with me and Lord Nobunaga?’

Idyllic Poet’s face turned icy. In the end, she simply stomped the ground and stayed silent.

‘Change your clothes, so you won’t be an eyesore to Lord Nobunaga.’ Lady Noh distributed a set of clothes to each of them.

They also received a notification saying, ‘You have received the outfit: Kimono.’

They were surprised. Outfit items had always been invaluable and could be sold for crazy prices in the trade centre. Some beautifully designed outfit items were even more expensive than Level 30 epic equipment; there were simply too many people who valued appearance.

Sasaki was the only one unhappy. After changing class to Blade Master, his default outfit had been changed to blade master kimono. His outfit no longer stood out now that everyone had a kimono. Still, while the two outfits had similar cutting, Sasaki’s kimono was tailored for a samurai and had a bit more fierceness and handsomeness to it.

Seeing Idyllic Poet put on her kimono, the guys all sighed in relief. It was because she always showed her snowy bust, but when they stole glances at her chest, she’d laugh like a mad queen while shooting fireballs…

Drako Yau was the exception though. He never seemed to be attracted by Idyllic Poet’s sexiness, to the point that she had cursed many times while wondering if he was actually gay.

After a while, Mori Ranmaru’s voice came from beyond the room’s door.

‘Mask, Lord Nobunaga calls for you. Only you.’

Drako Yau accepted the offer and said to the others, ‘Stay alert. According to history books, night is when the enemy will strike. Be ready for battle at all times. Once you notice something off, meet up with me at the inner temple where we met Oda Nobunaga. We must slaughter our way out.’

Windstrider then said, ‘Boss, I’m the only one with Lurk. Let me scout the place first. It should be useful for our escape later.’

Drako Yau thought about it briefly before nodding and patting Windstrider’s shoulder.

‘Be careful, don’t get discovered by them. Oda Nobunaga might appear to trust us for now, but if they see you snooping around, they might see us as spies.’

Windstrider responded with a nod and vanished.

Drako Yau followed Lady Noh to where Oda Nobunaga was. This time, Lady Noh didn’t enter and simply shut the doors from outside after Drako Yau entered the inner temple.

In the large temple, only Oda Nobunaga who sat on a futon and Drako Yau who stood behind him remained.

Silence ensued in the temple. The only noises came from the occasional sparks of candles.

After a good while, Oda Nobunaga broke the silence.

‘Brother Hon, he must’ve said something to you, right?’

Drako Yau stayed silent. He’d lose five levels for a joke or a careless answer, levels which had cost him an entire month of farming.

Drako Yau didn’t answer him. Oda Nobunaga continued in a gentle voice, ‘He told me this will be a dangerous journey. But I must send Hideyoshi my aid. How many trials and disasters have I, Oda Nobunaga, gone through in my life? If I flee and fear whenever there is danger, how can I unite and reign over the lands?’

Oda Nobunaga’s voice was neither dull nor hoarse, but his voice contained the dominating aura of thousands of cavalry charging together.

Drako Yau, after considering his options, said, ‘Sir, did you ever consider why Brother Hon sent you his warning? Doesn’t that mean the situation this time is particularly dangerous?’

Drako Yau naturally knew how the Honno-ji Incident unfolded. After a fierce battle, Oda Nobunaga failed to sally out of the temple and was surrounded and killed. His corpse was nowhere to be found, having turned to ashes along with Honno-ji.
