Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Yuan Pan, Keep Cutting Trees and Just Listen to Me

Ideals are beautiful, but reality is cruel.

After the initial excitement, An Wen finally became able to think carefully and realize the difference between ideals and reality.

It would surely be impossible for him to build a steampunk-styled meccha for the time being.

When trying to accomplish one’s ideals, one should always remain down to earth and start with the basics.

For example, An Wen needed to build a blacksmith store first.

“Why did I not think about building a blacksmith store earlier?”

An Wen tapped his forehead. He should have thought of doing so long ago.

Researching what tools a blacksmith needed, he quickly realized that such a store included modern equipment like vacuum quenching furnaces and pneumatic hammers…

However, such equipment was not what he wanted; equipment modeled after traditional equipment was what he was looking for.

“Only pure handiwork would be stylish enough.”

After searching for a long while, An Wen finally found a merchant selling traditional blacksmith furnaces and all sorts of blacksmith tools.

Without any hesitation, he placed an order.

Then, he returned to the other world.

Yuan Pan was still in the same position, thinking about his nest. An Wen did not interrupt and headed directly to the fitness center.

To become a great blacksmith, he first had to master the hammering techniques. As such, he quickly activated the hammering skillset.

Carrying the Lei Gu Weng Golden Hammer, An Wen began practicing his hammering skills in the practice room.

Pant, pant…

After practicing for some time, An Wen realized a problem.

The hammering skills he was practicing seemed unrelated to iron forging; they were hammering skills used to hit people.

“What rubbish skills these are. There isn’t even the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer skill.”

Putting down the hammer, An Wen scoffed in a disdainful manner.

Whether he practiced the hammering skills or not was completely unrelated to iron forging.

Regardless, after the blacksmith store was built, he would naturally learn iron forging skills, just like how he learned woodworking skills.

“This won’t do, I need to correct my bad habit of doing whatever I think of doing. I need to come up with a long-term plan.”

Sitting on the floor in the practice room, An Wen finally emerged from his state of novelty and excitement, entering a post-excitement state of sage clarity.

His father had already advised him so a few years prior.

He said that An Wen always chose to do whatever he thought of doing at that moment out of pure interest. However, he did not have patience and would throw whatever he was doing aside after it was complete. Sometimes, he would even lose interest halfway through and not complete what he had set out to do.

Such people would find it extremely hard to succeed, no matter how talented they were.

At that time, An Wen did not believe what his father said and refuted him, saying that he had wrongly accused him – at the least, in terms of playing games, he had retained his patience and had not given up playing after so many years.

However, the truth was that, while An Wen had played many games before, there were extremely few that sustained his interest for more than half a year.

In most of the games that he had played, he helped himself swiftly through making in-game purchases, leading to him becoming invincible in the game. Subsequently, he felt that there was no longer any point playing the games, so he stopped playing them.

As such, only competitive games like League of Legends managed to keep An Wen playing for many years.

The problem, however, was that he also very rarely played League of Legends nowadays.

In fact, An Wen was actually lacking the spirit of resilience.

The spirit of a player who could become a master even if he remained around his original starting location.

If he had such a spirit, he could still be extremely outstanding, even if he did not ‘cheat’.

However, spending effort would not feel as amazing as spending money and ‘cheating’.

“I can’t proceed blindly anymore, I must have a plan.”

“Constructing Machine Megacity is a given. It was tough building the camp previously, but I have also had a fair share of rest, so I should start building Machine Megacity as soon as possible.”

“I don’t need to worry about the renovations of the new house either. There are still a few pieces of furniture left to finish, but I’ll make them later so that will be settled.”

“In terms of mining, I can work slowly. I can also mine while building the city wall, since the large-scale excavation of stone materials would help to fulfill the prerequisites of building the city wall at the same time.”

“As for making steampunk-styled mechas, there is no rush and I can wait until I start extracting the copper mine later on. I just need to get everything ready before that.”

An Wen listed out the tasks at hand as he came up with a plan for each.

By ordering the tasks in terms of their levels of importance and urgency, he would be able to come up with a good plan and carry it out in an organized manner.

Of course, even though An Wen had planned everything out properly, just how long he could adhere to the plan remained to be seen.

Leaving the fitness center, An Wen began making furniture.

After more than two hours, he finally finished making all of the furniture for the new house. All that was left for him to do was to transport them to the new house after the renovation is completed.

“One task down, that’s decent progress.”

An Wen was extremely satisfied with his efficiency; he had finished a task very quickly.

He then checked the time and realized it was mealtime.

Returning home, he ordered a large meal of steak. When the food was delivered, he brought it over to the other world to eat. Its taste was enhanced by leaps and bounds.

Furthermore, the absorption of nutrients by his body was also increased.

“If only there was a chef cooking in this world…”

An Wen remarked as he finished his meal.

Unfortunately, he would certainly not expose the existence of the other world, so there was no way for him to hire a chef to cook meals. It could only remain a dream.

“Stop thinking about your nest and help me out with some labor work. Who knows, you could get some inspiration after working for a while?”

An Wen found Yuan Pan, who was still dazed and deep in thought, and asked him to cut down trees.

Although Yuan Pan was extremely unwilling to do so, it was still a formal matter, so he did not reject An Wen’s offer.

Brum brum brum…

Using the chainsaw, An Wen sawed down a tree in five seconds.

“Come on, let’s have a competition and see who can cut down trees more quickly.”

An Wen proudly challenged Yuan Pan. As he spoke, he even shook the chainsaw in his hand twice.

Yuan Pan shot An Wen a glance, before stretching out his claws and giving the tree in front a ‘slap’.

Bam!

The large tree fell to the ground instantly.

“…” An Wen was speechless.

How was it possible?

Yuan Pan’s claws were not made of Adamantium; how could the tree fall to the ground in just one hit? It was certainly illogical.

An Wen was extremely hurt – he was actually losing to a tortoise!

Going back to the warehouse, he retrieved another chain saw.

With one chainsaw in each hand, An Wen began cutting down two trees at the same time.

However, even so, the speed at which he was cutting down trees barely matched Yuan Pan’s speed – he might’ve been even slower.

“Yuan Pan, do you have any inspiration yet? Have you decided on the design of your nest?”

An Wen began talking to Yuan Pan to distract him.

As expected, when he heard An Wen’s question, his claws paused in midair.

Nice!

An Wen smiled as Yuan Pan was momentarily stunned, resulting in him cutting one less tree than An Wen.

“It’s actually alright if you can’t think of a design. How about this, I’ll build another cage for you? When it’s done, I’ll let you take a look and see if it’s suitable. If it’s not, I’ll make another one with a different design.”

An Wen continued speaking to Yuan Pan.

On the other hand, when Yuan Pan heard An Wen’s words, he once again stopped cutting trees and looked excitedly at An Wen with his small eyes.

Are you that nice?

You’re going to build another nest for me first and change to yet another design if it’s still not suitable?

Seeing that Yuan Pan stopped cutting down trees, An Wen felt that he was slightly silly.

Isn’t it good that Yuan Pan can cut down trees extremely quickly?

Why did I have to compete with Yuan Pan then?

At that thought, An Wen’s image of a macho man wielding two chainsaws immediately fell apart.

He then sat down on the ground.

“How about this, you continue cutting down the trees while I come up with some designs for you? I’ll tell you about the designs as I think of them, and if you think it isn’t satisfactory, I’ll change it. How about that?”

Upon hearing An Wen’s plan, Yuan Pan nodded his head continuously. He then began cutting down trees again.

This time around, Yuan Pan’s speed was many times faster than before.

What on Earth!

After a long while, it turned out that he had not even used his maximum strength.

“Alright, the main door of your nest would have a carving of a Black Tortoise. This way, you’ll be able to look at it for long periods of time. Who knows, you might become an Auspicious Beast, what do you think?”

As An Wen watched Yuan Pan cutting down trees, he sat on the ground and started blabbering. He did not even know what exactly he was saying.

Yuan Pan, on the other hand, was extremely serious. Upon hearing An Wen’s suggestion, his claws paused in the air as he began to think.

“No, no… Don’t think, you don’t need to think about it. Don’t stop moving and just go with the flow.”

“You just need to continue cutting the trees as you listen to me. If you are not satisfied with my suggestion, swiftly cut down two trees; if you are satisfied, swiftly cut down one.”

Upon hearing An Wen’s suggestion, Yuan Pan continued cutting down trees, signalling that he understood him at the same time.

“Alright, now that you have approved of the design of the main door, let’s design the walls.”

With that, An Wen continued blabbering on about the design plans.

Halfway through, he grew slightly thirsty, so he returned home to retrieve two bottles of cola, before continuing to bamboozle Yuan Pan as he drank them.

Just like that, An Wen blabbered on and deceived Yuan Pan for three hours straight.
