Divine Emperor of Death

3210 Twelve Paths

"Brat, are you serious? You'll die."

After a moment of pin-drop silence, the Variant Dark Dragon growled at Davis, causing him to drop his hand and shrug.

"Most likely…"

He gestured at Fairy Thunderblaze, appearing contemplative.

"… but if she could escape, that means you prisoners are restricted in one way or another. With the chains wrapping around you, it is probably safe to think your cultivation is sealed, leaving with your physical prowess, which can still kill us, but since you couldn't catch up to this beauty and eat her, I would say that your speed has been sealed or restricted as well. Am I wrong?"

The Variant Dark Dragon's gaze flickered.

"So what if you understand? Does it change the fact that I can slap you to death?"

"Well, can you?"

Davis returned the question with a question while displaying his blatantly challenging smile.

"Haha. Interesting… you can put up a front all you want, but there is nothing that can be done about reality, just like our fate is already determined."

The Variant Dark Dragon chuckled before it receded into the mist that gathered again, its colossal silhouette nowhere to be seen.

Davis turned his to the other side and saw the Phantom Gaze Cobra also retreated into the mist, making him wonder if there was some restriction on them speaking with the young geniuses as well. From what he could see, there was a strange talisman woven into their forehead like it was a natural-occurring rune in their bodies.

What he had seen was just a spot, so he couldn't be too sure about what kind of restrictions these dangerous beings were truly constricted with.

"Did you have to go provoke them into hunting you seriously?"

Davis turned to look at Fairy Thunderblaze and looked at him with an exasperated expression, causing him to blink.

"Now that I got to look at your face again from this close, you're truly beautiful."

Fairy Thunderblaze's eyes narrowed, "Don't patronize me."

She knew how miserable she looked right now with her bloodied figure and torn robe, so for him to say that she looked beautiful right now came off as nothing more than schadenfreude.

Davis didn't know what to say. A vulnerable fairy was a fairy who was absolutely appealing, so when this cunning fairy appeared vulnerable, she was quite adorable despite her imperfections in his eyes. Therefore, he spoke honestly, but it seemed like his goodwill was misunderstood.

He didn't say anything but turned to look around.

"Those prisoners truly left. What's going on?"

He couldn't sense their undulations anymore. Even if they sealed, their overwhelming aura couldn't be concealed to a degree that couldn't be sensed by him if they were still near. After all, not only was he perceptive to dangers and the hint of death, but his perception was also attuned to something more extraordinary and elusive.

When he thought of jumping off the bridge, he didn't feel a surmounting pressure that wanted to crush him, making him wonder if they gained too much distance that he couldn't feel a sliver of danger anymore or if the environment was like that with this powerful formation inevitably clouding his senses.

'Wait… they're both dark attribute beasts and are capable of comprehending Laws of their nature, so they could be concealed at a distance as well, waiting for me to step further away from the bridge…'

Davis thought when Fairy Thunderblaze's voice resounded out.

"From what I managed to gather from following the transcendents, there are approximately twelve paths to the center where the realm concoction is located. Each path consists of a bridge leading straight to the center, so each bridge also faces two sectors."

Fairy Thunderblaze popped a healing pill in her mouth, and her injuries began to heal while her immortal martial energy coalesced and made her new clothes, making her appear elegant and regal once again.

"Two sectors…"

Davis looked to the left and right, causing Fairy Thunderblaze to nod.

"Each sector has a plethora of high-quality resources, mostly Mid Immortal Emperor Grade Treasures and above, even Essence Orbs and, as the dark dragon said, even heavenly resources that have unbelievable effects."

Davis's brows shot up while Sophie and the others also looked extremely curious.

All they could think about was how to get these resources as they would not only be helpful to their growth but would also be the perfect souvenirs for their sisters back home. Particularly, Davis and Myria wondered if they would be able to find resources that would help them construct their Martial Physique, the Chaotic Genesis Physique, and the Eternal Life Body Physique, respectively.

"Naturally, every genius who came here was enticed by this information but ultimately, this information was given to them by the twelve magical beasts, the twelve prisoners acting as guardians to these treasures, so their words couldn't be believed, not until a Seven-Colored Phoenix Upper Realm's Empyreal Monarch decided to challenge the weakest of the twelve magical beasts and obtained a High-Level Emperor Grade Fire Essence Orb, allowing everyone to know that treasures truly existed."

"But everyone who came here didn't challenge these two dark menace?"

Davis blinked in doubt, causing Fairy Thunderblaze to sigh, "Naturally, they will return. The immortals were a burden, so they first planned to drop them off near the center before coming back here. However, the most likely reason is that they didn't want to lose the opportunity to concoct the realm pill, so they all forsook the treasures at this moment to head deeper and secure their place. Whether they are engaged in a war or competition is unknown…"

"I see."

Davis's gaze flickered in understanding. However, he couldn't help but take a good look at her as he felt her ability to process information wasn't lacking at all when compared to him or Myria. Perhaps it was even greater. After all, from her detailed account, it was like she was watching them through her eyes from here, which was scary in its own way.

If not, it could only mean she was intelligent enough to garner all these from a few clues.

Fairy Thunderblaze looked at him, staring at her, and added.

"I haven't gone that far yet, but since everyone else had left further, leaving me alone here, I liked to test a few things."

"So you tried your chances by jumping into this chasm? Truly courting death…"

"Unfortunately, I don't have a man who will do things for me without even being asked~"

Davis shook his head, causing Fairy Thunderblaze to smile lightly, her voice returning to her seductive tone. It made Davis chuckle, his lips curling into a wretched smile.

"You still haven't told me what you got."

"…"

Fairy Thunderblaze went speechless. Was the information she collected not enough?

She felt he was taking advantage of her again and again due to the vast difference in their prowess, but eventually, she relented, taking out an object of heavy interest and holding it in her palm for him to see.

"What's this?" Davis's brows flickered as he saw a crimson-blue fruit.

"Who knows? It seemed to make my kirin blood throb, so I picked it up without any hesitation on a floating island. Just so you know, I'm not giving it to you even if it means my death."

Fairy Thunderblaze glared at him, but Davis ignored her as he gazed at the fist-sized fruit that appeared like a peach.

He tried too hard to match the appearance with the heavenly resources he knew but couldn't. He tried even harder to match the appearance with some ordinary resources he knew but couldn't. Eventually, he looked to Myria for help, but even she… shook her head, indicating that she didn't know.

Davis gawked.

Even the Saintess, who was an alchemical expert, didn't know what kind of resource this was that she didn't even try to guess after taking a single look?

However, considering these resources were at the Immortal Emperor Grade, he guessed that her knowledge was also nearing the limit, so he didn't say anything and turned to look at Fairy Thunderblaze, his lips moving.

"You keep it. I haven't got what you want, after all, so if I find some treasures you fancy and I don't want, I'll share them with you for the valuable information you gave us."

"…"

Fairy Thunderblaze gazed at him with some disbelief in her heart, wondering what kind of sorcery was this for him to suddenly not take advantage of her. She saw him walk away but head towards the edge of the bridge, her eyes widening.

"Are you crazy? I jumped after confirming that the beasts were preoccupied with those transcendents, so the dark dragon only discovered my presence later on, but if you jump now-"

Before she even finished her sentence, Davis jumped into the chasm, disappearing from their gaze as he flew into the mist.

Everyone turned, shocked, as his movements were too quick. Sophie and the others became alarmed, but Myria waved her hand, disallowing them from following after him. They almost went crazy, on the verge of screaming out his name, but quickly shut their mouths as they didn't want the beasts to know that he was out there.

But eventually, amidst the confusion, they caught sight of Myria's unperturbed gaze.

It was like she fully trusted him to come back, causing their hearts to stop wavering as they recalled his true prowess- no, his true speed that was at the realm of Late Stage Immortal Emperor already before he got his Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique, perhaps even exceeding it.
