Chapter 73: Fighting The Humanoid Demons (3)

Blake observed each part of the two demons’ spells as they drew their demonic runes.

After two seconds, the two demons were halfway finishing their runes and Blake recognized the runes that the demons drew were most probably the same as last time.

‘Do they really think I will fall for the same trap that didn’t even work in the first place? Is their intelligence not as high as I think it is?’ Blake thought to himself as he kept his eyes on the two demons.

Blake could have changed position and confused the two demons by going into an imperceptible angle so that the two had to find him again to make it harder for them to hit him.

But Blake wanted to observe the two runes carefully.

Blake might not be able to use the greenish demon’s spells as he didn’t even know what elements those runes the greenish demons used to cast those roots.

However, it was a different case for the brownish demon.

.....

Blake recognized the runes that the brownish demon was using, which was the earth element.

And from the covenant that he made with Robus, it was possible for Blake to use the earth element.

He didn’t know whether the brown demon used any other runes besides the earth elemental runes since Blake didn’t know many earth elemental runes, but Blake found no harm in memorizing the demonic runes used to cast the earlier circular earth wall spell.
For whether he could really use it or not, Blake would find out about it for himself soon.

By the time 4 seconds had passed, just like before, the two demons completed drawing their sets of runes and were ready to blast their spell.

Blake wanted to draw the brownish demon’s runes himself and add the darkness tendril spell before aiming it towards the two demons to give them the taste of their own medicine.

But alas, even if he had a photographic memory, he could also lose his focus and forget about something important.

When Blake was about to start imitating the brown demon and draw the runes, a loud crack suddenly came from beneath his feet.

Turning his head downward, Blake couldn’t even register what had happened to him before he felt a humongous force crash straight onto his chest.

The force was so powerful that Blake’s body had literally flown off the tree branch.

Blake stayed in the air for about three whole seconds before his body finally crashed onto a tree trunk and flopped down to the ground.

The same as when he first arrived at the demon realm, his mouth was currently kissing the ground as he lay face down on the dirt ground.

“That shit was dizzying as hell...” Blake muttered out loud as he propped his body up from the ground.

Blake was fortunate that he wore the dark earth armor as it apparently did a great job and protected Blake from any kind of pain.

A slight spinning on his head and a negligible numb feeling on his chest was the only thing that he got from his experience of being thrown from about 15 meters tall in the air and a powerful hit on his chest.

Blake was about to take his time to see the damage that had been done to the dark earth armor, but Blake abruptly stopped anything that he planned to do as he felt nether started gathering beneath his feet.

“Those damned mages!” Blake cursed out loud as each of his hands started drawing a set of runes.

‘Please make it, please make it!’ Blake chanted inwardly as he cast a single darkness tendril spell with each hand and aimed them towards two relatively parallel trees about 20 meters away from his current location.

With how similar the runes were and how Blake was pressed for time, Blake almost instantaneously finished drawing the two runes and the two darkness tendrils manifested themselves as they flew towards the two adjacent trees.

Blake realized his current situation was dire enough that he started running himself even before the two darkness tendrils successfully latched onto their targets.

The nether gathering beneath his feet became thicker and thicker that Blake could feel the plant roots and the earth wall would appear any second now.

But just at the last second when the ground barely started shaking as the prelude of the plant roots sprouting from the ground, Blake finally saw the two darkness tendrils finally arrive at their destination and securely latched themselves onto the two trees’ trunks.

Feeling the grip on the darkness tendrils in his hands secure, Blake pulled his two hands as hard as he could, going as fast if not faster than when he wanted to catch up to the demonic monkey a while ago.

With two darkness tendrils pulling him instead of one, Blake’s body flew even faster than before when he dodged the two demons’ attacks for the first time.

Even though Blake was glad that the two darkness tendrils did really give a significant boost of speed that he desperately needed to get out of his current predicament, Blake still couldn’t relax yet as the ground that was shaking a second ago now had plant roots coming out of them.

By raising his feet and angling them upward while his upper body was being pulled by the force of the two darkness tendrils, Blake barely succeeded in completely dodging the plant roots from latching onto his body.

And just like before, the second after the plant roots sprouted from the ground, came the circular earth wall from around the plant roots.

Blake’s eyes couldn’t see the signs of the earth wall popping out from the ground, but he had seen for himself earlier how instantaneous the earth wall suddenly came out of the ground and he didn’t dare to think that he was really safe yet.

And Blake’s concern turned out to be real as just before his feet got out of the two demon’s combination spell’s range, the earth wall protruded from the ground at an insane speed and hit his knees from beneath, sending Blake yet again flying into the air.
