Demon King Ascension System

Chapter 273 - 273 Finishing Up (2)

273 Finishing Up (2)

Blake woke up surrounded by mangled and charred corpses everywhere. Piles of them were found here and there as hundreds of humanoid demon corpses littered his surroundings.

Fortunately, Blake wasn’t only surrounded by dead demons as three demons quickly approached him.

Vera, Robus, and Cyra had all protected Blake from the humanoid demons’ encirclement or more particularly, slaughtered the humanoid demons that dared to endanger him while he was unconscious.

Blake remembered what had happened before he found his eyes dark and his mind blank.

The shockwave of the muscular humanoid demon’s bloodline power was the one responsible for breaking Vera’s portal, erasing his dark flame wall, and also knocking him out cold.

Shaking off the lingering grogginess, Blake muttered under his breath.

“I’m still very weak after all…”

The muscular humanoid demon that he saw in the last few moments was a different kind of monster that Blake couldn’t comprehend.

Just a seemingly casual punch from him was enough to break his spells and even Vera’s albeit Vera had her power sealed.

.....

He also found himself back in the real demon realm instead of the isolated space.

He didn’t know what had happened after he passed out, but he had guessed that the muscular humanoid demon had somehow escaped the isolated space that Vera had created.

‘Well, with his power, I can imagine he would literally punch the isolated space out of existence though…’ Blake thought to himself.

“Brother! Are you alright?” Cyra was on the verge of jumping straight into Blake’s arms, but she remembered that her brother had just woken up and stopped herself from doing anything that might cause him harm.

“Yup. Other than feeling quite confused, I’m perfectly fine.”

Deactivating his half-broken armor, Blake made his body as light as possible before standing up on his feet.

He then saw Vera land beside him and instantly scanned his body from head to toe.

And after seeing for herself that there wasn’t anything wrong with him, Vera heaved a huge sigh of relief. It was an unpredicted event for her, and she was caught off guard by the muscular humanoid demon’s extreme decision.

She was able to soften the damage a little, but the damage done was still enough to knock Blake unconscious and damage the dark earth armor. She was worried sick that Blake would receive a fatal wound that might hinder his future growth.

“So… Vera, I guess the muscular humanoid demon unsealed his power and attacked us at the last second? Is that correct?”

“Yes. He broke his seals and unleashed his true power. But due to the poor nether environment, he wasn’t able to regain his true strength in this realm and that last attack was only about a quarter of his real power.”

“If he was in his full power back then, then you will cease to exist with that one strike.”

Hearing the last statement made Blake’s whole body shiver as he swallowed his saliva.

“The demons from the deeper realms are really something else… My current power doesn’t mean anything…”

“And that’s where you are wrong my dear student,” Vera flicked Blake’s forehead.

“Ouch!”
Vera then began her explanation. “As I’ve said before, the nether quality in the second realm couldn’t be compared to the nether here. It’s like comparing mud water with sparkling water.”

“Putting the second realm spells aside, even your ordinary spells from this realm would be enhanced if you cast them there.”

“And besides, you are on the lowest threshold of demons that live there.”

“But that was only on the raw strength side. Based on techniques, skills, and abilities, you will be above average when you arrive there. That’s not even taking into account your talent to be a runemaster.”

‘That’s right… I’m only level 15 currently. I could level up even faster when I’m fighting stronger demons and gain even more stats.’

‘And Vera said that her arsenal of skills is even more complete in the second realm compared to the first realm. With fire, earth, and darkness affinity, there will be so many spells I could learn and use to fight my enemies…’

“So, what are we waiting for then? Let’s go!”

Jumping on Robus’ back, the three humanoid demons then soon arrived at the gate that led to the second realm.

The large closed gate was made of an obsidian-like material that seemed so smooth that you could even hold onto the surface properly without slipping your fingers.

“So, how do we do this?”

“You three just put your hands on the door and let it recognize that you three had evolved.”

Blake, Robus, and Cyra then did as Vera told them and stood right in front of the gate with their hands glued to the obsidian gate. Vera then followed soon as she put one hand on the gate and the other holding an unknown rune formation.

It took about half a minute, but the obsidian gate finally lit up as countless demonic runes that Blake actually couldn’t see properly appeared on the surface of the obsidian gate.

He had never been unable to see runes properly so it was a new experience for him, but it wasn’t anything unknown as he remembered Vera once saying that other demons couldn’t simply see the runes of others and memorize them as they would see the true shape of the runes obstructed by something.

And while Blake was still lost in trying to comprehend the countless runes, the bright symbols then exploded with light as they engulfed the four demons completely.

Sitting in the front of the class, a girl had her eyes glued to the presentation slides that her teacher had the whole class see.

Her mouth was shut and his eyes didn’t even blink as she looked straight in front of her. It looked as if she was intently etching the contents of the slide into her brain.

However, if you look closely into her eyes, you would definitely realize that the eyes that were seemingly putting all of their care and attention to the presentation were actually not even looking at the boring slides.

The eyes exuded a feeling that people usually had when their mind was wandering elsewhere, unattached to the present time as it traveled either into the future possibilities or the past regrets.

Despite the teacher’s voice that sounded throughout the whole classroom and the not-so-quiet students whispering in the background, the girl was unbothered as her mind continued floating away wherever she wanted it to go.

But that did not last for long as the school bell rang aloud, waking those who fell asleep, lighting up the spirits of those who are bored beyond savings, and of course, pulling the daydreamers back into reality.

“I guess that is all for now. You may continue reading the rest of the slides on your own. I’ve uploaded them on Net Classroom, make sure to study them since I will not notify any of you whenever there’s a quiz.”

The teacher turned off the screen projector and turned the light back on as she walked to the door leading outside.

Before opening the door, the teacher gazed backward and spoke loudly once again before leaving the classroom.

“Don’t forget to submit your career choice to your homeroom teacher. It is important for you so that we, the school, could help you all achieve your goal and point out the right path you can take to get there.

This is the last day, and for those who haven’t submitted theirs, please do so if you do not want us to just send you to a random general high school.”

The moment the teacher’s hind leg left the classroom, the not-so-orderly students became pure chaotic as chairs were jerked backward and students scrambled around everywhere.

Some instantly made their way to their friend’s desk, most of them quickly headed to the door, and a few others did their own thing.

Just like the girl who sat in the front of the classroom.

Pulling out a piece of paper from her backpack, she put it on her desk and clicked her pen open.

“Future Career Choice Form” Those words were written in huge font and in bold, placed on the very top of the paper.

And on the bottom part of the paper, a big empty box was prepared for the students to fill in their career choice.

The girl still had the box empty, but with the pen already in her hand, she was ready to fill in the form after a few long days and nights of thinking.

She began writing the first word on the empty box, but when she was about to continue writing the next word, her hand stopped as her friend called out to her.

“Amy, let’s go home!”

Shaking his head, Amy replied, “You girls go on first. I want to submit my career choice form.”

“You’ve finally decided? Thank god, I thought you weren’t going to submit anything since you usually get these kinds of things first thing when they’re first distributed.”

“So, what is it? What do you want to be when you grow up?” The friend asked.

“It’s a secret,” Amy replied she finally finished writing the three words on the empty box.

Amy then brought her paper and her backpack along with her as she made her way to the teacher’s room.

Finding her homeroom teacher, she quickly gave her form to the middle-aged woman who had been so kind to her all this time.

Amy was a good straight-A student that also knew how to socialize with others. It would be hard to not like her unless they were jealous of her exceptionally good grades and incredible, above-average talent in magic.

“I knew that you would take this matter seriously.” The woman smiled before she continued speaking.

“I didn’t think that you would be the last one to submit the paper, did you really think thoroughly about this?”

“Of course, ma’am. I am more than sure that my choice wouldn’t ever change.”

“Oh? Really? Let’s see what you pick.”

One second was all it took for the middle-aged woman to read the three words that Amy had written. And a split second was what it took for the woman to jerk her eyes wide open and stare at the girl right in front of her.

“Amy… Are you sure you wrote the right thing? You must have filled it in by accident.”

The woman then scrambled to her desk as she searched for a new empty form. “Don’t worry Amy, I still have an extra paper, you could fill the proper ans-”

Before she could finish her sentence, Amy continued. “Thanks for the offer ma’am, but I’m sure of my choice. It’s not a typo and I’m 100% sure and prepared when I wrote that.”

“But, do you even know what choosing this career means? You know you will be dealing with -”

“Once again ma’am, I’m absolutely certain about my choice.”

Amy kept her eyes locked with her beloved teacher, her back stood tall and her fist balled up, holding in tight to the determination that she had decided and not planning to ever let it go.

‘Wait for me brother… I will free you from whoever forced you to become like that….’

On the empty box of her career choice form were written three words and they were “Demon Extermination Force”
