Defying Natural Order With DeoxyriboNucleic Acid

Chapter 27 - 19: A "marginal" improvement

Facing the boss, the Giant Sandworm Progenitor, could be said to be both the tensest and relaxed moment of the run.

It is the moment we know the best, but it is also the last point of failure.

Of course, as certified record breakers, the first thing we do is check if we have enough of a lead on the future second place.

We don't want a lackluster first place, we want a complete beatdown. It's just our style.

Just some like their idol music to be metal, we feast on the blood and tears of all the second place guilds.

Why all second place?

Well, in front of our time, they all look second place the same, after all!

-Good!

Anyway, getting back to the matter at hand, I quickly tell the team that things are fine, and we start our very direct strategy..

I engage the boss alone, and use Attention Grabbing to ensure that I have the aggro, before signaling the team to move to the next step.

The next step being, of course, waiting for the boss to do its main attack for the first and last time before bashing it to death.

As soon as the boss jumps, or more projects itself toward me, I take advantage of its body leaving its ground tunnel to use Slip.

Using Palm Push into the ground to push myself away from its landing position then is pretty much as easy, if not easier, than stealing candies from a baby.

-Pinky!

As soon as I avoided the Giant Sandworm Progenitor, I call out to Pinky.

She technically doesn't need my reminder, as she also practiced this for a long time, but calling out names still helps with synchronizing timing, so she doesn't burn me to death together with the boss.

In fact, she already was about to fire her magic when I called to her, and it wasn't long before the boss that bȧrėly landed on the now slippery ground was charred black.

At least, it's what you would think anything would be, as she used her Fire and her Explosion skill to their fullest extent thanks to her Spellcast.

I got pushed by the explosion, but I had the time to brace myself this time, and used Thick Skin to stop myself from tumbling around.

It's true that it doesn't matter, but it does matter to my pride as an elite player. If I have the ability to look cool on all occasions, I might as well do!

If there is one person for which I never call anything, it's Silent.

While his style is slightly straightforward in a way, he's still the closest to his skill tree's normalcy in the group.

Soul is way too good a swordsman, Pinky is way too powerful a mage, Dartagnan is... Dartagnan. If I told someone I was a Ninja, they wouldn't believe it, and Red is far from your standard Dark Swordsman: there is just nothing dark about him that would turn his name into xxXDarkSasukeXxx.

Silent, meanwhile, may have a straightforward style and a loudmouth for an ȧssassin, but is like a shadow in his playstyle.

He just acts faster than you'd expect. I'm not comparing him to a shadow for no reason, it is the feeling he gives. His timing is so perfect that he seems perfectly synchronized, just like a shadow is to your movements under the sun.

I guess that both his straightforward and loudmouth would actually not be a problem realistically.

No one would believe an ȧssassin to have his personality, so it would make for a perfect cover, and so long as no one remains, there is no problem with him coming directly to his targets.

If no one alive saw or heard anything, it's a successful ȧssassination, even if there is a sea of bodies left over.

Anyway, that theoretically perfect ȧssassin SilentVoice uses Targeted Switch to exchange my position with Soul's, while Dartagnan uses his Keep to freeze the boss's status, keeping both my Slip and Pinky's skills burning effect active.

This time, due to me not tumbling around, Soul didn't even have to use Air Jump and directly used Forward Slash to reach the boss.

I was close enough for him to reach him in one skill, and as such, he needed none of the skills he had to use last time either: neither Quickfall, neither Falling Slash.

Once that was done, he used the most powerful Slash to deal great damages to the Giant Sandworm Progenitor and project it in Dartagnan's general direction.

Dartagnan, in turn, can't possibly miss the timing given by the huge mass of... stuff... flying towards him, and after a long wind-up hits the boss with his long battle hammer, using Crush to deal extra damages.

It doesn't take long before the Giant Sandworm Progenitor takes its last breath, and our announcement rings far and wide into the server.
