Chapter 54 - Gil'Takka 2

The Rakasha was a tribe consisting of four smaller tribes, with Gil'takka as the main chief. Because they were ogres variant each of the ogres' chiefs, they had received the Oracle blessings.

After thinking for a while, Gil'takka thought it was best to keep the other chief's closer to himself, most probably in case of a life-threatening situation, he could turn them into death ogres which were more like an emotionless killing machine and living bombs, which could get rid of the enemies at the cost of their lives.

'As long as I can survive and evolve into a high existence comparable to a demon beast, what are women? And children? Gil'takka thought to himself.

'The only things that matter to the ogres' survival is me and the sacred Oracle, and most importantly evolving! Every other thing is disposable.'

The shaman Gil'takka slowly calmed down, he didn't dare use the Oracle to spy on the demon beast again, probably afraid of dying but he still made his arrangements. Meanwhile, the other ogres chief took their time to slowly ambush the human groups.

Since they were about to face a mighty demon beast, Gil'takka had given others to capture as many humans as possible since humans are also made of mana, they could be used to increase their strengths and powers, even if it couldn't make them evolve they still ate humans flesh.

With Gil'takka as the highest shaman in the tribe, his main focus was how to make full use of his knowledge of their territories and as well make an estimation of their enemy strengths, and abilities.

He was the only one in the entire tribe capable of making multitudes of complex thoughts, which was due to his awakening and gaining instant recognition from their Oracle.

Although the humans were smart and could use lesser magical weapons, Gil'takka thought the other ogres' chiefs were enough to handle the humans especially since they had been ambush. However, he also felt distressed since he didn't know how powerful a demon beast was, the lore he had read only stated even with the protection of their Oracle there was 99% of death if the ogres ever came across one.

Even though Gil'takka was afraid, he had exploded with euphoria the moment he realized there was still hope, to him the bit of 1% was enough to create a demon beast-killing master plan. Literally, that was all he needed, he also needed to make a side plan otherwise those idiots might spoil his plan and hard work.

According to how the other ogres variant chiefs were, it was likely that they would screw up things and abandon him, the moment the demon beast arrives and leave everything on his shoulders.

'It is only natural that a might demon beast isn't aligned with those filthy humans, suddenly sending more than one ogre chief might make the demon beast notice something amiss, and it will also be a waste of my ace. I'll let the other ogres' chiefs lead both the humans and demon beast close to our territories, where my powers and the Oracle can easily gain connections.

'While I leave the humans to the other ogres' chiefs, I must warn them to best be cautious. With the Oracle by my side and the spirit of our forefathers guiding my path I shall have victory!'

Even as the ogres were inciting chaos and some were ambushing some mercenaries that ran away, though Tobi knew the ogres pose no threat to him, but yet he literally met no resistance even as he walks around the chaotic crowd.

Every ogre that came toward him, seem to evade his existence seemingly like an order.

'Again, ogres are meant to be dumb. And should have definitely have charge at me like a mindless beast regardless of how strong I am, unless they can sense I am a much bigger threat.' Tobi thought to himself, this change had been realized after he felt an unknown mental energy swept past him for a moment. Due to the fact, the group was over chaotic, his hybrid awakened senses couldn't pinpoint the exact location of that mental energy.

But he was still able to catch the glimpse of it, after merging his consciousness to his spiritual world.

'I guess a shaman is like a final boss in a game.' Tobi thought to himself with a smile, he found it a bit funny, to be seen as a prey.

'After I reach the academy, it seems like I might have to call Horus or even still search for books about ogres since the information I have might be useless at this point.'

'The main forces of the cargoes are definitively here. I can take perfect advantage of this group, furthermore at least if there is no survivor I can reach the academy without trouble…'Tobi thought to himself.

Tobi rushed toward the group, while he moved at a speed almost comparable to a middle-ranked mercenary even though he still kept his appearance as a low ranked mercenary, and definitely didn't plan to help an unknown bunch of strangers, he still made sure to leave a good impression at least before their death.

The ogres could bȧrėly hold the advantage in terms of numbers over the mercenary group. But they didn't try to defeat them heads-on since it would come at an extreme cost. Instead, they had set up an ambush, with a few traps on the ground, even leaving an escape route at the back.

Even as the human mercenaries realized this, they also realized what was amiss. The ogres' goal was practically to further incite chaos among the humans.

Most importantly, pursuing the scattered humans was a chance that literally could not be lost.
