7. Degrading Himself

Translator: Alanese Fantasy

“Granny.” Yan Chuyang put the balloon flower in his hand in front of the grave, squatted down to touch the photo of  a benevolent elderly woman on the center of the cold gravestone. He said with a smile, “I’m going to get married.”

In the silent cemetery, only wind could be heard.

“Do you know whom am I going to marry?” Yan Chuyang was all smiles. After a silence, he shook his head, “I suppose you can’t guess it at all.”

“Alright.” The boy shrugged, “I won’t keep you in suspense.I’m gonna marry Wei Qing.”

“Wei Qing, this name doesn’t ring a bell, does it? Let me tell you, he is the one who donated us anonymously every month .”

“Your monthly medical expenses and my annual tuition for college were all donated by him . However…”

Yan Chuyang lowered his eyes; he shook his head as if he thought of something funny, “However, if you see him, you won’t believe he is that kind of person who donated us. Because with a straight face, he really looks like a mean, bad boss.”

“But I know he is kind.” Yan Chuyang smiled with a warm expression in his eyes. “If it hadn’t been for him, you might not have been able to have that operation eight years ago,and I would not have been so lucky to have the chance to stay with you for another six or seven years. ”

“Actually, he is such a nice guy.” Yan Chuyang turned around and sat down against the tombstone. He said with a faint smile, “At first, when I approached him, all I wanted was just to thank him and repay him. But the more I knew him, the more I adored him. You don’t know that he is so handsome and so good-looking. I was shocked when I saw him the first time. His lips were rosy and his teeth were white; he looked cold but still pretty. He looked just like… like an arrogant little prince.”

“In fact, I have already met him at the age of 12. I hid it from you that I went to the address written on the donated materials.”

“At that time, he was standing at the door feeding a stray cat with a bun. I can still remember how he looked back at me. His cold eyes made him look fickle , but what he was doing was very cute. He threw the bun to me and said, Hey, kid, I need to go to school now. Help me feed this cat. ”

“Alas.” Yan Chuyang shook his head. “I can’t even remember whether I fed that cat or not. It was all because of him for being so gorgeous that I could do nothing else except looking at him.”

The boy was in a daze for a while, and then suddenly said, “But it’s not for his appearance that I like him.” Yan Chuyang stressed, “What I like is his gentle heart.”

“So…” The boy let out a breath, and his jet-black eyes were resolute. “So I want to repay him. I want to become someone excellent, someone worthy of his love. And then, I’ll be with him.”

“Granny, here comes the opportunity. I’m going to marry him. The two of us will have a long time to get along with each other. So, please bless me in the heaven and let him fall in love with me quickly. The love will be so deep that…” Yan Chuyang narrowed his eyes , as if he was joking with his granny like he used to, “that he can’t extricate himself and can’t be without me for a single minute.”

“Of course you will bless me, won’t you?” Yan Chuyang turned his head and looked at the amiable smile on the gravestone.

The wind was light and no one answered. But he always felt that he saw that benevolent old woman standing in front of him with a smile, “Sure, anything my grandson says.”

Knock, knock.

The clear knock on the door awoke the one sleeping well in bed .

Yan Chuyang stroked his hair impatiently, turned around with his eyes closed and covered his ears with quilts so as to keep sleeping.

Today, he lied to his professor that he didn’t feel well to take a leave. His biological clock was very accurate. Besides, there were not many classes in college, especially in the morning. So, sleeping till 9 o’clock was the basic respect for bed.

Last night, due to the great excitement of getting married with Wei Qing soon, he had insomnia for the first time in nineteen years. He kept tossing and turning for half a night and still failed to fall asleep.

So no surprisingly, he had difficulty getting up this morning.

Without hearing an answer, the person outside the door kept knocking.

“Bang Bang.”

“Bang! Bang!”

Finally, Yan Chuyang couldn’t bear it anymore. He kicked the quilts aside and roared, “Who is that!”

The one outside paused and then answered in a deep voice, “Wei Qing.”

‘Wei Qing?’ Yan Chuyang stared at the ceiling and pondered for a while. ‘Who is Wei Qing?’

‘Wei Qing!!’

‘It is my husband who’s here!’

It was really a good shock,so Yan Chuyang jumped off the bed right away, found his shoes under the bed and put them on in a hurry. Then he rushed to the door to open it.

“Here you are.” Yan Chuyang  opened the door and looked at the man in front of him with a grin on his face.

Wei Qing looked the young man in front of him up and down.

Obviously, he had just woken up. His hair was in a mess. His jet-black eyes were full of steam; even his eyes and eyebrows looked lazy, as if he had just yawned.

And he was wearing…

“You like the Calabash Brothers.” Wei Qing stared at the Calabash Brothers printed on Yan Chuyang’s white cotton pajamas and asked in a low voice.

“Ah, that,” Yan Chuyang was stunned and scratched the back of his head. After quite a while, he stammered, “They… didn’t they defeat the snake spirit? It’s pretty good, so…”

‘Holy crap!’ Yan Chuyang wanted to slap himself. ‘What the hell am I talking about?!’

‘Snake spirit?!’

‘It seems that I really need to pay for someone to cure my syndrome of becoming idiot after waking up!’

Wei Qing simply nodded and didn’t express any disdain. He merely said seriously, “Won’t you let me in?”

Yan Chuyang recovered his wits and promptly turned himself sideways, “Come in, come in.”

Wei Qing stepped into this small house that was only about twenty square meters large.

To be honest, he had a feeling of entering the bathroom in his own place.

The bathroom in his house would be more than twenty squares.

“Take a seat please.” Yan Chuyang pointed at his lazy sofa.

That was an extremely soft single lazy sofa that one would sink into it as soon as he sat in.

Wei Qing glanced at the sofa, but didn’t sit. That made him feel like degrading himself.
