215. Go Get Him

Translator: Ahve

After he finished, Wei Qing stood up and straightened his slightly wrinkled suit. “Alright, I’ve already made it clear. I have to leave now. After all, I can’t help you much.”

The man strode towards the door without looking back.

When he was about to open the door, the boy suddenly pounded the table, gnashing his teeth, “Wei Qing, no matter if you’re joking with me or not, if you leave now, I will never talk to you again!”

The man sighed, “Yan Chuyang, when will you grow up?”

After that, Wei Qing opened the door and walked out.

The door closed with a bang.

The living room fell into silence.

The boy sat there quietly and clenched his fists with a pale face.

“What are you waiting?” Fang Jingshu suddenly stood up and pushed the boy on the shoulder, shouting anxiously, “Go get him!”

Yan Chuyang got rid of her hand and muttered stubbornly, “Why should I? You heard him. We’re not friends anymore. Why should I still humiliate myself? If he wants to leave, I’ll just let him go!”

“Humiliate yourself? What are you thinking?” Fang Jingshu roared out of control, “People like Wei Qing are born to respected, and you should feel honored to be his friend! Now that he’s angry, you should go and apologize to him. Why are you still sitting still here? How silly you are!”

Yan Chuyang raised his head in disbelief, “I didn’t do anything wrong. Why should I apologize?”

He was the one who was abandoned now!

“Why are you so stupid?” Fang Jingshu roared, “Wei Qing gave you everything you have now. It’s not easy for someone like you to have such a decent friend. If you don’t get along well with him, you’ll be the one who loses everything in the end!”

Yan Chuyang’s heart sank.

Fang Jingshu’s words were like a basin of water pouring down on him.

The boy stared at the person in front of him.

He suddenly felt that Fang Jingshu was so strange. It felt like she was wearing a mask before this. Now she finally took the mask off.

The woman who brought him lunch just a few days ago was so tender. Every now and then, she would apologize and regret for what she had done to the boy, her eyes filled with tears and sincerity.

She was weak and pitiful. She ran in the rain just to give him an umbrella. She said she was afraid that he might get cold and acted like his beloved mother.

She was completely different from the woman who was currently enraged.

Was he cheated?

Seeing the boy in a daze, Fang Jingshu was getting impatient. She sat down and banged the table sullenly, “You just don’t get it, do you?”

Yan Chuyang nodded, “I do understand, but I won’t go find him. I have my own dignity and bottom line.”

“Dignity?” Fang Jingshu sneered in disbelief, “My son, you’re just a poor boy. Don’t think that you’re gonna make it big one day just because you went to university. If you don’t have a friend like Wei Qing, you’re just good-for-nothing! You’ll only be a burden to others! I’m telling you this for your own good!!!”

The word “burden” stabbed the boy’s heart like the sharpest knife.

It turned out that nothing had changed. Fang Jingshu had always treated him as a burden.

“Tell me the truth,” Yan Chuyang raised his head and looked at the woman. He said with a serious look, “What do you want from me and Wei Qing today?”

Fang Jingshu snorted and remained silent for a while before she said disdainfully.

“Since everything has been ruined by you, I’ll just tell you the truth. I’m not sick. I just want you to bring Wei Qing here and ask him to help Li Xinqiang get the job he wants. I thought you two were so close and he would help for sure. I didn’t expect that he actually didn’t care that much about you!”

Yan Chuyang’s heart trembled. He said coldly, “I never said that we are so close.”

Fang Jingshu gritted her teeth, “Then why are you acting like you’re brothers?”

Yan Chuyang clenched his fists, “You took it the wrong way. It has nothing to do with me!”

“Well,” Fang Jingshu sighed and leaned back against the chair in disappointment. She rubbed her brows tiredly and muttered, “It’s too late to say anything now. Everything is ruined. I thought that with your help, we could all have a better life. And your brother could go to a better school. But now, there’s no hope left.”

Li Xinqiang also sighed, scoffing, “It’s all your fault. You insisted that your son is somebody now and he can help us. See? We still get nothing now. Why should I bother myself to pretend, bow to, and flatter that arrogant guy? It’s all in vain!”

Yan Chuyang clenched his fists and felt bitterly disappointed. He was silent for a while before asking, “So, you’ve been nice to me these days just because you can take advantage of me, right?”

Fang Jingshu looked down and didn’t say anything. Li Xinqiang snorted, “You’re really stupid. Isn’t it obvious? Now I really wonder how you got into college.”

Yan Chuyang felt as if he had been punched right in the face, and it hurt like so.

So, what Wei Qing said was right.

Everything was a lie. Fang Jingshu was never guilty for what she had done in the past, and she had never thought about making up for it.

In the end, she just wanted to use her innocent son.

Yan Chuyang actually felt warm when the woman suddenly began to care about him. He thought that finally they could start it all over again and he could feel the love from his mother like all the others.

Yet he was fooled again. It was just a few good words that made him forget about how cruel that woman was.

She abandoned him and had disappeared from his life for more than ten years without a phone call. She didn’t even show up when his grandmother passed away.

She was so selfish! How could he ever think that she would change? And he even wanted to give her a chance to make up for it!
