164. I Was Wrong

Standing aside, Zhuo Zhanheng grabbed Wei Qing’s wrist, shook it off, and snapped, “What are you doing? Hitting your father?”

“Seriously?” Wei Qing took two steps incredulously. His gloomy eyes stared at the two men. “I want to ask you the same thing!”

“Wei Qing!” Zhuo Zhanheng snarled, “Don’t talk to your father like that.”

“Fine.” Wei Qing nodded, raised his eyes, and looked at Zhuo Zhanheng. “Didn’t you say he had a heart problem? Didn’t you say that his health collapsed and that he needed emergent surgery? Didn’t you tell me that the surgery was difficult and that he might die?! What about now?”

Wei Qing clenched his jaw and pointed at Wei Dongsheng, saying, “You went on a tour and fooled me, didn’t you?”

Zhuo Zhanheng sighed and hung his head silently.

“Answer me!” Wei Qing roared, his eyes red with anger, “You fooled me and now play dumb!”

“Don’t talk to Zhuo like that,” Wei Dongsheng cut in, “It’s not his but my idea. I was behind everything. It’s not his fault.”

Wei Qing’s shoulders trembled, and he stared at Wei Dongsheng blankly. After a long silence, he croaked, “Dad, why… why did you do this?”

Was it fun to make him worry and fall into despair?

Wei Dongsheng pursed his lips and replied after quite some time, “I just want you to get married as soon as possible. Marrying a boy.”

“And?”

“I couldn’t find any other way to push you. You’re not afraid of anything. Faking illness was my only option.”

“Huh,” Wei Qing sneered, “You know my weakness so well.”

Taking advantage of their weak bond, his concern, and his fear of losing, his father made up such a perfect story to deceive him.

Sure enough, no one knows a son better than the father. Wei Dongsheng preyed on his vacillation about their bond.

“Wei Qing,” Wei Dongsheng came up and frowned, “I’m sorry I was wrong, but things are not that bad. You have Chuyang. The two of you…”

“We are fake,” Wei Qing interrupted him in a cold voice. His eyes were fixed on his father as he said cruelly, stressing his tone, “My marriage to Yan Chuyang is fake. It’s based on a contract and used to fool you.”

Wei Dongsheng froze there, and the air turned cold.

Wei Qing walked to Wei Dongsheng, stared at his eyes, and stated coldly,

“Wei Dongsheng, do you really think that your petty trick will work on me? It’s ridiculous of you to think that I’ll yield and hastily marry someone I don’t like.”

Yan Chuyang’s spine stiffened.

“Someone I don’t like.”

Like the sharpest needle, his words got under the boy’s skin. Totally embarrassed, he wished that the floor could open and swallow him.

This was it. Turned out he thought too much about his effort in the past three months. In his initial view, Wei Qing should have some feelings for him.

To his surprise, he was a “disfavored person” in Wei Qing’s mind.

“Do you really mean it?” Wei Dongsheng asked, a quiver in his voice.

“Yes!” Wei Qing coldly cocked his brow and abruptly turned to Shen Shimin.

The girl was insensible enough to come over and stand beside him.

“Remember her?” Wei Qing sneered at his father.

His face contorting, Wei Dongsheng remained silent.

“You can’t recognize her, can you?” Wei Qing threw his arm around the girl’s shoulder and snorted, “She is Shen Shimin, whom you chased out back then. You forgot? She is my first girlfriend.”

The expression on Shen Shimin’s face changed instantly. She looked at Wei Qing in disbelief and muttered emotionally, “Wei Qing…”

She had never expected things to turn out this way.

In front of Wei Dongsheng, Wei Qing hugged her.

‘What does this mean?’

Showing everyone that she belonged with him?

Or Wei Qing still had feelings for her?

Or announcing their relationship in front of his family?

The girl was so excited that her heart almost jumped out of her throat.

Wei Dongsheng stared at Wei Qing sullenly, “Son, you can be mad at me, but don’t joke about your happiness.”

“This is no joke,” Wei Qing tightened his arms, got the girl closer to himself, and said gloomily, “This is my choice all along.”

Shen Shimin threw her arm around the man’s waist and leaned her head against his shoulder intimately.

“Surprise,” Wei Qing guffawed, approached Wei Dongsheng, and looked fixedly into his eyes, “You think you can manipulate me, but things are still the same. Wei Dongsheng, do you feel defeated?”

The expression on Wei Dongsheng’s face changed. He heaved a deep sigh and murmured, “I didn’t know that you hated me so much all these years.”

“How would you know?” Wei Qing said coldly, “You’ve been manipulating me like a puppet. How would a puppet know resentment?”

Wei Dongsheng shook suddenly. Quick in reaction, Zhuo Zhanheng reached out his hand to support the man.

Wei Dongsheng pushed Zhuo Zhanheng away, stood upright, looked at Wei Qing, and stated in a stressed tone, “Son, I was wrong. I thought you were young and I imposed my thoughts on you. I take it for granted that you are my son and justify myself for controlling everything about you. I tried to mould you with my desire. I forgot that you had grown up with your own thoughts. I’m really sorry for my selfish ideas.”

Wei Dongsheng took two steps back and bowed slightly. “This is my first time being a father. I don’t know how to love you.”

Wei Qing clenched his jaw and looked away.
