Conclave of Tyrants

Chapter 81 - Totem Training

Prologue

...

Within a mediaeval looking stadium, made of brick, were a group of people, all of which were dressed in a fancy uniform. The girls wore plain golden tops and plain white skirts, the boys wore plain gold tops and plain white trousers, all of the tops were long-sleeved. Most of the people looked like teenagers, some being in their early twenties.

Standing in front of the young ȧduŀts, was a young woman, she too wore a uniform, hers, however, was different; her top was white, abundant with a golden pattern, whilst her skirt was golden with a corresponding white pattern, on the left brėȧst of her shirt she had five suns displayed. She was viewed with admiration and envy by the majority of the soldiers.

Behind her stood three other people, two female and one male, who also wore the fancy uniform. The male, and one of the females, displayed three suns on their ċhėsts, whilst the other female only had one sun on display.

The young woman in front of the crowd was Arisu Masiye. She was a 5 suns Colonel of the Elephant foot guard. Her speciality lay in understanding and using Totems. Today, she was taking charge of a new batch of cadets for some new lessons on totems. Most lessons were handled by lower-ranking soldiers, but there was a person of interest in this class. She wasn't told who, just that he was a 'prodigy'.

Such geniuses would come to young matriarch candidates of her clan for lessons on totems such as her. The other ranked Officers behind Arisu only observed, silently on the sidelines or intervene at critical junctures. But this was just for show

Arisu's lessons however were an exception to that rule, she had the complete trust of the Guard, and thus there was no need for any Higher Ranking Officer to observe her lessons.

Normally, An officer of a Higher Rank than Arisu should have been observing from afar.

As is the tradition in the training ground, the first practical lesson would be taught by her personally. This class was the lucky bunch amongst the rookies, for Arisu was usually far too busy to teach.

Arisu cast her clear blue eyes around the stadium, to observe her class.

"Right, as you all know, my name is Arisu Masiye. I am A Colonel of the Elephant Foot Guard and a Matriarch Candidate for the Masiye Clan! Today, I have been given the honour of conducting this lesson."

'Honor? Please, we all know you hate this; it's in your eyes!'

"With me today are my companions in the soldier Council; this is Yvette Cotz, my Right hand" She announced, as she pointed to the young woman behind her with the three stars. "This is my bodyguard, Woodsy." She pointed to the young man, proudly displaying three stars.

"And this is my Assistant, Letisha Crouch."

'Who do you think you are! Does the soldier Council belong to you? Man, she is such a drag, I wish there was coffee in this world!'

Yvette was a stunning beauty, with vivid red hair and enchanting red eyes, when her name was called; she put one hand on her curvaceous hɨps and winked, sending the male soldiers crazy.

Woodsy was a tall, slightly buff, lazy looking guy, with dark hair and dark eyes. He merely waved with one hand, the females went crazy over his little wave, some even screamed out his name. The guy just yawned at the attention, as if it were normal to him.

Letisha was a cute, slightly chubby girl; she wore spectacles and hid behind her brown hair. Although she wasn't as strikingly beautiful as her companions, something about her meek-looking demeanour made you want to protect her. Following her introduction, she bowed nervously. This cute little action won the hearts of everyone in the crowd.

'She obviously practised that! But of course, I'm the only person who can tell, as usual.'

Well almost everyone.

Last, but definitely not least, was Arisu herself. To put it simply, she was the epitome of physical perfection. She was a blonde bombshell with a curvy body, slim waist, enchanting blue eyes and cherry red lips that send your imagination running wild.

'Man, I miss pizza, and my bed!'

Some moments in life where one's concentration drifts off due to multiple reasons. Taku's body was still feeling the side effect of the dan he took. To his horror, Taku could bȧrėly feel Zesa. He knew it would be bad but not this bad. He could bȧrėly fight to protect himself, hence Saru had an Idea, the Runes he had learned from Chiwenga.

And it just so happened that modern-day runes were based on a system Kaguvi created thousands of years ago. They were part of the reason he was able to defeat gold level talent and become the Martialist. Of course very few people knew that Sekuru Kaguvi, the rune master, and the martialist, the strongest fighter, were one and the same person!

Saru wasn't just a Muroyi, he was also a qualified historian. Sekuru Kaguvi was one of the more reclusive legends. They say the man was the most intellectually gifted Gutu to have ever been born outside royalty. He had come up with an entirely new way of using Zesa. It was this achievement that got him invited to the Conclave of Ancestors.

He was born just after the war of Sages and Saints. An immortal war that happened on his continent thousands of years ago. After the war, the world was in shambles. Kaguvi's Runes were one of the many important keys to making Muroyi's so powerful.

Kaguvi stated that Taku would be back to normal in a few months, in the meantime, he would be taken to a training camp for totems for those with talent. Totems not only used zesa, but they also used one's life force and vitality as fuel. The more vitality one loses, the shorter their lifespan, minute for minute.

Kaguvi Proposed that Taku learn the runes through his totem, but the latter didn't even have a totem. Kaguvi scoffed and gave Saru instructions through Taku. They had a short conversation before Taku was taken away.

"Chiwenga did well teaching him the runes. It has made life so much easier said Kaguvi."

"Indeed ancestor. Thank you for being there for him."

"Well I am his guardian so it is my job, anyway there is a certain army camp run by the Masiye Cla, are they still there?"

Saru took a moment and instantly understood the underlying wisdom behind those words. "Truly the words of a Truthseeker."

Kaguvi in Taku's body chuckled, "I like dealing with smart people. I will get Chiwengas training and modify it so it…fits Taku more. This will take a while. Use this time wisely young one."

Taku's eyes regained clarity.. All he could see was Saru on both knees clapping with cupped hands, the highest form of respect one can receive in the land.
