60 – Enjoying the Festival

After reading the tarot reading, we headed to the baking club booth and got some bread as planned. I thought it would just be plain bread without any special ingredients, but I was surprised to see so many breads of good quality.

Thanks to her, Hanyu ended her predation. I patted my stomach with satisfaction and grinned at me. She found it strange that she could be so happy with just one piece of bread.

“Huh? “Is there something drawn on their faces?”

“Yes.”

With a full stomach, I was about to go to the auditorium to watch the E-sports competition that was about to begin, but Yuna Han noticed drawings that looked like they had been drawn with paint on the faces of the students passing by and expressed her interest.

She then took out the pamphlet she had received from her aunt earlier and checked the booths she had set up. Among them, she proudly saw the phrase ‘Face Painting Booth.’

I don’t think this happened last year, but this year, a lot of things have happened.

“Let’s go do this! “Don’t you think it would be fun?”

“It’s not bad.”

Hanyu bounced in her seat and grabbed my arm, nodding her head towards me and walking with her.

To be honest, I’m not the type of person who likes to put things on my face, but I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get in a festive mood. Unlike tattoos, it is not semi-permanent.

It happened to be not far from where we were wandering around, so we were able to quickly arrive at the booth. The surrounding area was quite crowded with students.

But it looks like not everyone is lined up, and most of them seem to be visitors who want to watch the process of drawing a picture on someone else’s face.

“Yuna, hi!”

“Huh? “Seyeon, why are you here?”

While waiting quietly in a long line, a female student who was heading to the booth holding an object that looked like a paint container greeted Yuna Han warmly. She was none other than Jeong Se-yeon, a girl from our class.

At first glance, she looked like someone from her booth. When Han Yuna asked her what happened, she smiled sheepishly and shrugged her shoulders.

“I was passing by and saw that my kids were having a hard time, so I came to help them. “They’re all from the comics club.”

“Oh, is this run by the comics department?”

Han Yuna looked around her booth and opened her mouth in surprise. Surprisingly, I was the same way.

Speaking of the comics club, I thought it was just a club that mainly talks about comics, but it looks like they also draw comics. Otherwise, there would be no reason for these talented people to join.

Now that I think about it, some of the drawings on the faces of kids passing by earlier looked like deformed versions of famous cartoon characters I had seen. Maybe that was foreshadowing.

“By the way, have you been hanging out with Siyoon so far?”

“Yes, we also read tarot readings together. “I heard Teacher Jooyoung is doing it?”

“Tarot reading? Ohh….”

Jeong Se-yeon glances at me and Han Yu-na with an expression that suggests she has figured something out. Then, she suddenly walked up to Han Yuna and started whispering something.

I feel uneasy for some reason.

“…… !”

“Right, right? Is that exactly what it feels like? “That’s why you suddenly decided to come out to the festival today.”

Soon after, Hanyu Na’s face turned red as if it was about to explode, and Jeong Se-yeon, who distanced herself from her guy, smiled playfully.

“Well, that’s right, but….”

“Right? I’m really fond of things like this.

Usually, at times like this, Han Yuna often gets angry even if it is belated, but today, unexpectedly, she showed a positive attitude while pouting her lips.

Jeong Se-yeon glanced at me as the tension rose even more, and she started patting my back with a very sinister smile.

It feels like I’m watching version 2 of Kim Soo-bin. It also feels like the tension has been upgraded. To put it simply, I am incredibly tired.

“Don’t worry, I’m a loud-mouthed person! hehehehe!”

“… ….”

I don’t know what the hell I heard, but even putting other things aside, I can’t believe that this guy speaks so loudly.

There is a case like that. In cartoons, there is a character who says, ‘Extracurricular, extracurricular!’ And goes around talking about the news he heard yesterday to every classroom the next day. He seems like that kind of guy, so I don’t really trust him.

Either way, Jeong Se-yeon dragged us towards the booth as if pushing our backs with heightened tension. She felt like a vicious tout who caught a customer on the road.

“Juniors! “This is MVP, so please take care of me!”

“Ah, yes! Senior!”

Meanwhile, look at how VIP is incorrectly called MVP. Is this truly the vocabulary ability of high school seniors in Korea? My heart feels tight.

In fact, the juniors in the comics department couldn’t even point out the wrong word because they were seniors, and just looked at us sitting on the chairs and gave a friendly smile.

“You can choose what you want from these samples.”

“Sample?”

As I moved my gaze to where a male junior’s hand was pointing, I saw several pictures drawn on coated paper. There are a variety of designs, from basic patterns such as stars to quite detailed drawings.

Ah, this is the main character from a cartoon I started watching recently. Well, these days, it’s not a bad thing because it’s one of the so-called insider comics that the general public often reads. It goes well with the concept of a comic book club.

Anyway, there was no picture that really caught my eye, so while I was wondering what to do, Jeong Se-yeon, who had been watching us from behind, rushed in and snatched the sample sheet.

“Ah, now that I think about it, there’s something that suits you guys really well! “I’ll draw you with that!”

“Do you think it suits us well?”

I felt strong in the sense that it was ‘to you’ rather than ‘to you’.

It’s not a painting that suits one person, but a painting that suits both people? Something’s a little strange. I may be even more suspicious because the other person is Jeong Se-yeon, who has been making a misleading statement just now.

“Guys, the concept is like this….”

Completely ignoring us who were looking at us with doubtful eyes, Se-yeon Jeong whispered something to her juniors, each of whom was holding a brush in his hand. Here, one more suspicion stack was piled up.

“You know what it feels like, right?”

“Yes, I will draw it.”

“What on earth are you trying to draw?”

Looking at the seniors and juniors whispering to each other, Han Yuna asked in a voice full of doubt.

“Hey, trust me and leave it to me. “I heard our juniors are really good?”

At this, Jeong Se-yeon made a shocked expression for a moment and joked.

No, it’s not that I don’t trust my juniors’ abilities, but I just don’t trust you, you evil scoundrel.

“I’ll draw you a pretty picture. Instead, should you stay still?”

“Uh, yes. Okay.”

I would have felt the same way about Hanyu, but she couldn’t bear to leave in front of her junior who spoke like that, so she ended up leaving her face to him.

I also closed my eyes with the feeling that I could just do whatever I wanted, whether it was baking or boiling. Soon, a moist brush with painting paint tickled her face.

As I, who is not prone to tickling, was quietly waiting for the painting to be completed, Hanyu next to me couldn’t help the sound of her laughter coming out as she kept saying ‘Ughhh’.

“Senior, everything is drawn.”

“Okay, thank you.”

After a while, the brush strokes stopped and the tickling sensation disappeared, and then Han Yuna and I opened our eyes at the same time.

For some reason, Jeong Se-yeon’s expression is full of laughter as she looks at us next to her juniors. What on earth did they do?

“Hey, Jeong Se-yeon. “Give me the mirror.”

“I don’t have a mirror? Go out and ask other kids. “That’s fine then.”

“There is no such thing as a real idiot.”

What kind of guy’s face painting booth doesn’t have a mirror? It was clear that they had removed all the nearby mirrors so that we could not check them right away.

But we have something called the victory of civilization. It’s a smartphone.

Even if you don’t have a mirror, you can immediately see what’s drawn on your face by just running the selfie camera──

“… Ah.”

That’s right, I forgot to charge it this morning, so the battery was in trouble.

I lowered my head, looking at the phone that didn’t respond even when I pressed the button.

Yes, Han Yuna’s phone is alive anyway. No matter how hard the world tries to treat us, there is a way out.

“Hey, Han Yuna. “Take out your phone quickly.”

“… ….”

“… “Han Yuna?”

He tries to urge Han Yu-na without losing sight of the last string of hope, but his expression is unusual.

When I, feeling her coldness, cautiously called out her guy’s name, Hanyu-na looked at me with an expression that seemed to break out in a cold sweat while rummaging through her pockets.

“Sorry, I was reading tarot earlier and I think I left my phone there.”

“… ….”

Silhwanga, really.

We suddenly left this place without knowing what was drawn on our faces, and we shuddered with despair. There is probably no situation where the adage “Mountains beyond mountains” Fits more well than now.

“Now, there are other customers waiting behind you, so please leave quickly. “The exit is over there.”

Meanwhile, Jeong Se-yeon, who had referred to us as MVPs, or rather, VIPs, as if to downgrade our status in her head, once again pushed us on our backs and ordered us to celebrate.

A store like this somehow manages to survive without going bankrupt.

“If I just tell you a little bit, what’s the point!? “What on earth did you draw?”

“Yes, I won’t tell you. “If you’re really curious, go out and check it out.”

Despite Han Yuna’s earnest request, Jeong Se-yeon used her other guests as an excuse to urge us to leave.

In the end, we came to get face painting and had to leave the booth feeling uncomfortable, without even knowing what was painted on our faces.

Ah, now that I think about it, wouldn’t it be okay to tell each other what’s drawn on each other’s faces? I’m not stupid and I just realized this. For some reason, I feel like I was tricked by Jeong Se-yeon’s trick.

“Hey, is there something drawn on my face…?” .”

Only then did I see the picture drawn on Han Yu-na’s face, and I thought it really suited her and was about to ask her about the picture drawn on my face.

From Noble mtl dot com

“What, where do you guys come from?”

“That’s right. “What are you doing here?”

Choi Min-seong and Kim Su-bin, who happened to be passing right in front of us, spoke to us. They are probably going somewhere together to participate in an E-sports competition.

“Oh, we went to get face painting for a moment….”

“Face painting? Ah, the pictures on the kids’ faces were drawn here.”

Kim Soo-bin nodded her head as if she understood my explanation, and then opened her eyes round as if confirming something. Choi Min-seong said the same thing. Perhaps we have finally seen the picture drawn on our faces.

“… Foot.”

“Big! Hey, have you guys really decided to date now?”

Then, the guys who were silently exchanging glances with each other burst out laughing and said something incomprehensible.

Han Yuna and I had to exchange looks, just like the two people did just now, confused. Why does this sound suddenly come out?

“Soo, Subin. “What on earth is drawn on my face?”

“What is drawn?” . “Isn’t that what you guys asked me to draw in the first place?”

Kim Soobin took out her phone from her pocket, saying, ‘Let’s see.’ She kindly turned her camera to selfie mode and showed it to us.

The familiar two-shot that appeared there had two engraved drawings that were not normally seen, located on my left cheek and Han Yuna’s right cheek, respectively.

The drawing on Han Yuna’s face is a heart that, when cut in half, is pink on the left and gray on the right. It’s just as I saw it.

And on the other hand, what is drawn on my face is a heart with gray on the left and pink on the right.

The problem is that since they are drawn on opposite cheeks, the two halves of the hearts are properly joined together, so to others, it looks like they are advertising, ‘We are a couple.’

Only then did I realize the true nature of the sinister smile Jeong Se-yeon had made earlier and tapped my forehead.

“It’s a little bit pretty…. “I drew it at best, but it would be a waste to erase it, right?”

On the other hand, Han Yu-na, who thought she would immediately follow her back to the booth and claim her, showed a surprisingly satisfied expression and was busy looking at herself in various compositions on her camera.

Eventually, as I looked up at him and saw him wandering around, the thought of immediately erasing the picture had disappeared.

… It’s kind of pretty, though.
