Bloodline Lord of War

Chapter 21: pointed ears

  Chapter 21 Pointy Ears

That night, Simon led the three iron guards, took all kinds of equipment, and plunged westward into the vast wilderness.

What followed was a long day of waiting. During this period, Robin was not idle. He increased the patrol range of the sentry and expanded the patrol area by another ten miles.

In the evening of the second day, Simon and his scouting team finally came back.

Several people were covered in dust and dust, and their bodies were still stained with blood. It seemed that there had been a battle, but fortunately no one was injured.

Robin listened to the report of Simon and the others in the lobby of the wooden building. They found the tribe of the dragon vein goblin, killed a patrol team of the other party, and grabbed a tongue.

"The patrolling hobgoblin said that their heads already know the location of our territory. Their tribe is currently rushing to make dry food, and the troops are making final preparations before the battle. They should launch an attack on us soon."

Simon and the other three scouts stood in a straight line in front of Robin, and Simon panted to report the information he had found this time to Robin. They ran all the way back, and the lining of their leather armor was soaked with sweat.

"This is the map of their tribe." Simon said, took out a piece of crumpled kraft paper from the leather armor, and spread it out in front of Robin.

There is a simple map drawn with charcoal on it, including the location of Raging City, the location of the Goblin Tribe, and the trend of the Raging River. The Goblin Tribe is at the upper reaches of the Raging River. Although the map is simple, it is concise and clear, and can be understood at a glance.

Simon has two knives in everything else, but he has never disappointed Robin in military affairs. This stupid big man is simply a natural talent.

While looking at the map, Robin listened to Simon's report on the goblin tribe's troop composition, weapons and equipment, and other information, basically the same as what the hobgoblin captive said.

The information about the goblin tribe was almost reported, and finally Simon said: "Leader, there is one more thing. When we came back, we found a tribe with pointed ears. They are approaching us. I don't know what they are doing. .”

"Pointy ears?" Robin raised his head in surprise.

Pointy ears is a colloquial term for half-elves, referring to their slightly pointy ears.

Half-elves are descendants of the ancient elves. Although they are called half-elves, they are still human beings, except that their pointed ears are slightly different from ordinary humans. Half-elves, like highlanders, are alien races who have integrated into humans.

Elves used to be a very powerful race that created brilliant civilizations. Their natural magic and artistic attainments left other races in the dust.

In addition, the race of elves is all extremely beautiful. Regardless of men, women, old or young, their beauty is the envy of the gods, as if the word "beauty" was specially created for them.

What’s amazing is that elves have grown in the aesthetics of almost all races. Whether it’s humans with similar appearance or ugly and dirty goblins, all races think elves are beautiful.

However, time has passed, and with the advent of the era of great ebb, the former glory has slowly faded with time. In addition to being fairly beautiful, today's half-elves are completely different from their ancestors in ancient times.

Half-elves are not good at farming and herding, and it is difficult to use natural magic like their ancestors. Moreover, half-elves are generally weak in body. Both men and women are weak beauties. They can't wear heavy armor, can't draw a hard bow, and they can't fight at all.

Although the imperial people’s evaluation of them was a bit harsh, it was not unreasonable: this is a race that has almost nothing but good looks.

Even in terms of beauty, half-elves are far from ancient elves. According to legend, purebred elves are all as beautiful as works of art, while the beauty of half-elves is generally above the passing line, and the probability of producing beauties is higher than that of imperial people.

Because of the above disadvantages, the life of the half-elves in this era is very difficult. Most of the half-elves live in the empire and are attached to some big nobles.

But there are also a small number of half-elves who stick to the glory of their ancestors and want to reproduce the glory of the elf empire. After the rise of the pioneering movement, half-elves also joined the pioneering army, dreaming of rebuilding the home of the elves on the wasteland.

Half-elves have always been a peace-loving race, so it's hard to imagine that they would take the initiative to attack Rage City. And according to Simon's description, this half-elf tribe has a family and a family, with more than 20 carriages loaded with various things, and it doesn't look like an army at all.

Their state is more like migrating, or fleeing for their lives.

Just when Robin was wondering, an Iron Guard sentry who was out on patrol suddenly opened the door and walked into the lobby.

He was so exhausted that he was out of breath, and he didn't care about the sweat on his face. He walked up to Robin and knelt down on one knee.

"Report to the leader, ten miles to the west of the territory, we found a tribe with pointed ears, and they are being besieged by a group of wolf men."

Simon was listening, and immediately asked: "Are they flying the blue moon flag?"

The sentinel turned his head and saw Simon, with a little surprise on his face: "Huh? Second leader, you are back. Yes, they are indeed flying the moon flag."

Simon was very excited and said to Li Fan: "The leader is the pointed-eared tribe we discovered earlier."

Robin stroked his chin and thought for a while. The gnolls who attacked the half-elves were probably from the dragon vein goblin tribe. After all, they were the only large indigenous tribe in this nearby area.

These two groups of outsiders actually fought on my territory. As a local lord, Robin couldn't ignore it.

He slapped the table and stood up: "Come on, let's go and see, all the iron guards gather!"

Then, he said to Simon and a few scouts: "You have worked hard, take a rest first, and you don't have to go with us."

Robin was out of kindness. Simon's scouting team had just returned, so they should be allowed to rest first.

Unexpectedly, when Simon heard that there might be a war, he immediately became excited. He raised his chest and said loudly: "I'm not tired, I request to fight!"

The other iron guards of the reconnaissance team also followed Simon, straightened their backs, and shouted loudly: "We are not tired, please fight!"

Robin was happy: "Okay, gather outside the door!"

   "Yes! Chief!"

  …

Coincidentally, the place where the half-elves and the gnolls fought was near the iron mine dug by the goblins last time. By the time Robin and the others arrived, the battle between the two factions had already reached a fever pitch.

Robin and a group of iron guards were still hiding on that high ground like last time. There is the surrounding commanding heights, from which the entire battlefield can be seen clearly.

There are about 300 people in the half-elf tribe, but only about 60 of them can actually fight.

They surrounded the carriage in a circle in the grass, temporarily turning the carriage into a simple city wall to block the enemy's attack. This is a common tactic in encountering an attack in the wasteland, simple but effective.

The half-elf warriors capable of fighting stood behind the carriage as the second wall of flesh and blood. They relied on the carriage to fight and defend. Once a gnoll broke through the defense line of the carriage, they would face the claws and fangs of the gnoll.

In the innermost part of this double-layer defense circle are the elderly, women and children in the tribe. At this time, they hugged each other tremblingly, and the old man and the woman protected the child in the middle.

The weapons used by the half-elf are spears and bows, and they wear beautiful green rattan armor. Half-elves have inherited their ancestors' pursuit of art. Their weapons and armor are more like pieces of exquisite art while taking into account practicality.

A half-elf female warrior stood on the roof of a carriage. Wearing a black cloak, she seemed to be the leader of the group of half-elfs. While directing the battle, she kept harvesting the lives of the wolf men with her exquisite longbow.
