Chapter 5: : Manuscript fee

Early in the morning at Ninghai Railway Station, Sun Yang was standing at the ticket gate holding a sign.

"Editor in chief, do we need to do this?"

The gaze of passers-by made Sun Yang feel uncomfortable, so he couldn't help asking.

Ye Xiong sat while flipping through the newspaper, and laughed when he heard the words: "Didn't you read that comic?"

Sun Yang nodded: "I've seen it. It's really good, but he is not a well-known cartoonist, so you don't need to come out to meet him!"

"Your eyes are too narrow. Do you know what that comic represents?" Ye Xiong put down the newspaper and snorted coldly, "The manga business relies on talent and perseverance. A newcomer can draw beyond the level of a professional cartoonist. The manuscript, the future is limitless!"

He also knows that the manga market lacks the most talented original cartoonists. A cartoonist who can think about stories and draw is hard to come by. Meng Huo is only fifteen years old. To put it bluntly, which professional cartoonist can use time. Spent him?

Experienced Ye Xiong doesn't think he will miss it. Meng Huo contributed a detective cartoon. Ordinary people can't draw this kind of subject at all, because it requires not only precise and careful thinking, but also extensive knowledge of various disciplines.

However, the fifteen-year-old Meng Huo made the manuscript quite perfect, with almost impeccable content, orderly rhythm, interesting plot, and solid drawing style-he is definitely a genius!

"Okay, the time is almost up, you can keep an eye on it."

Ye Xiong checked his watch, and the train was about to arrive.

Soon, the crowd with large bags and small bags began to check in the ticket. Sun Yang stood on tiptoe and scanned the crowd for fear of missing the target.

"Are you from Phoenix Company?" Just as he was looking around, a young man with a bag saw the sign and came over: "I am Meng Huo."

Ye Xiong stood up and looked at the young author. He was thin and delicate. Both mother and son wore white clothes, obviously their living conditions were not very good. What surprised him, however, was that Meng Huo had bright eyes, clear and confident. When he stared into his eyes, Ye Xiong had an illusion that he thought that standing in front of him was a successful adult.

How could it be-he shook his head with a wry smile and walked over.

"Hello, I am Ye Xiong who called you."

Anyway, Meng Huo's first impression of Ye Xiong was very good. The two shook hands, and Ye Xiong turned his eyes to Li Qin: "What's wrong with Madam?"

Li Qin's face was pale, and Meng Huo helped to explain: "My mother is a little motion sick."

Ye Xiong nodded in understanding: "Our company is not far from here. Madam can go to the editorial department to rest."

They picked up Meng Huo and Li Qin in a black car, Sun Yang was in charge of driving, and Ye Xiong sat in the front row.

"Five sheep and five sheep run fast, run fast..."

Before driving, Sun Yang's phone rang suddenly.

"Wait, I'll answer the call." He pulled up the handbrake that had just been put down, and then took out his phone: "Hey, Teacher Tomato, what's the matter?"

"Ah, receiving the manuscript? Today... I'm really sorry, I forgot."

Sun Yang clutched his phone, turned his head and asked Ye Xiong: "Editor-in-Chief, Teacher Tomato's new work is coming. Can I drive the car to receive the manuscript first?"

Tomato, this is a professional cartoonist who has been serialized in Weekly Shonen for a long time. The reason why he is called a teacher is the honorary name of a professional cartoonist in the comics industry.

Ye Xiong frowned. This Sun Yang really doesn't know how to do anything. He even forgot the time to receive the manuscript.

"You tell him to collect it tomorrow."

He glanced at Meng Huo and felt that "Detective Conan" was more important. He must sign the contract within today to save nights and dreams.

"But the editor-in-chief, Mr. Tomato is grumpy, and recently fell in love. Isn't it a bit of touching his brows at this time..." Sun Yang swallowed. This teacher Tomato is his cartoonist, and he doesn't want to mess up.

"That's your problem!" Ye Xiong was angry. Why is this subordinate so stupid that he said to other cartoonists in front of Meng Huo: "Don't talk nonsense, go back to the company."

He was very disappointed. Originally, he was still thinking about signing the contract and let Sun Yang be the editor in charge of Meng Huo. Now it seems that he must choose another person. Sun Yang did not realize the potential value of Meng Huo, and such a responsible editor could not tap Meng Huo's talents.

So he returned to the editorial department, Ye Xiong immediately drove Sun Yang away, and he asked another editor to put Li Qin, who was not in good shape, in the rest area.

The editorial department prepared breakfast for Li Qin. After eating, her physical condition recovered a lot.

She looked around and found herself sitting in a private room separated by transparent glass. Through the glass, she could see a busy editorial office. There are five rows of more than twenty editors working in total, and there are many comic posters on the opposite wall.

   "Madam, is your health better?"

A gentle-looking young man with glasses walked into the box with a stack of manuscripts in his hand.

"It's much better, thank you for your breakfast." Li Qin smiled and expressed his gratitude. The young man sat across from him and smiled: "My name is Zhang Xiu. The editor-in-chief is discussing the details of the comics and the contract with Meng Huo. Responsible for communicating."

He put the manuscript on the table: "Please take a look, this is Meng Huo's work."

Li Qin had taken the manuscript. She hadn't read the manga very much. She turned a few pages uncomfortably but didn't have much thought: "Is this drawing very good?"

"Of course it's good!" Zhang Xiu nodded and exclaimed: "There are few original comics that can meet this standard, regardless of the drawing technique or the content... Madam, please take a closer look."

Li Qin turned a few more pages: "Well, it seems like this."

Zhang Xiu was not satisfied with her attitude, took the manuscript, turned the last page and put it on the table: "Madam, how about this picture?"

Li Qin looked down, and suddenly she was taken aback. Although she hadn't read the comics, the picture was really beautiful. The boy above attracted Li Qin's attention. His expression was full of doubts, making it strange that something happened to him. what?

   "I'll look at it again."

Li Qin gushed out of interest, picked up the comic and looked at it again.

"Your son is a manga genius, Madam should be a little conscious." Zhang Xiu pushed his glasses, Meng Huo can attract the curiosity of others with only one picture. This kind of talent has never been seen before.

Of course, people can only attract eyeballs when they are immature. The charm of manga comes from the story itself.

The story of "Detective Conan" is very good. Com Li Qin quickly became surprised.

"Is this really the story he painted?"

She felt that Meng Huo liked to paint since she was a child, but the things she painted were messy, and now it seems not messy at all. These pictures are not only good-looking, but also full of wisdom she could not even think of-detective manga would have given others a high-intelligence illusion.

For the first time, Li Qin found that her child looked strange, but she was busy with work and didn't know that Meng Huo's ability was also normal. Just thinking about it, Li Qin would feel guilty that his mother cares too little about Meng Huo.

On the side of , Zhang Xiu was relieved to see her expression. He didn't know that Meng Huo was only fifteen years old, but the task the editor-in-chief gave him was to convince Li Qin.

"Let's talk about the issue of manuscript fees." Zhang Xiu picked up another document and opened it on the table.

Li Qin cheered up. She didn't understand manga, but the manuscript fee was understandable.

"How much is the manuscript fee."

"If this comic is published in series, it will be about 20 pages per week, 1 page of 200 Hua Xia coins, and if a booklet is issued in the future, the royalties will be 5% to 10% of the price. Of course, this matter will be paid by the editor-in-chief and Meng Huo. The result of the discussion shall prevail."

"so much!"

Li Qin was dizzy, with 20 pages per week and 1 page of 200 Chinese currency. Doesn't it mean that she can get at least 16,000 manuscript fees every month—this is six times her monthly salary for more than ten hours a day!

Li Qin is not clear about the concept of the single-line royalties, but she knows that her son is promising, it is so promising! She was still worrying about tuition fees, she was worrying about it for nothing!
