18 – Episode 18

Students huddle together and start taking large books one by one.

Looking at the title, it’s a book I’ve already memorized in the mansion.

From noble mtl dot com

Since I already knew the contents, I turned over the cover and checked the number.

I found a card with a red number 16-5 in it.

Some children are huddled together and having a conversation, probably thinking that talking to strangers is more important than checking the dormitory.

Then we chatter and laugh as we talk about what we like so much.

Some of the friendly kids started talking to me, but I politely declined and left the classroom.

For some reason, I hate noisy things terribly.

There are no classes, and even if there are, it doesn’t really matter.

This place doesn’t raise any questions as long as you take the exam and cross the passing line.

Looking at the sign and walking in the direction of the dormitory, I realized what the hell number 16-5 meant.

It meant the 5th room from the left on the 16th floor.

The building is incredibly taller than I thought.

To the extent that it seems to be on the 30th floor.

If it was like my previous life, I would have come up with the idea of making a fuss on the 30th floor.

Even that was a tower-like building next to a large mansion.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no elevator, so I eagerly walked up the 16th floor through the stairs.

When I entered the dormitory room, the first thing I saw was pretty simple.

There was nothing special about it except for a large fireplace and a washbasin with a faucet.

It’s just a bed, a desk, a small veranda, and a bathroom with a bathtub.

I lie down on the bed and look at the ceiling.

It was just plain white.

Knock. Knock.

I get up from the sound of a knock on the door and go out to the front door.

And when I opened the door, there was a little boy in a school uniform standing proudly.

With a cane that was a hand’s length longer than my height.

“Are you the owner of the 5th room on the 16th floor?”

“Yes. You’re right.”

“Well, show me the number tag on the cover of the book.”

Hand over the numbered ticket you kept in your pocket.

The little one stared at the number ticket, and I don’t know what was fixed, but she nodded her head and gave it back to me.

She thought it was cute, just like a small child playing house.

But this little child in front of me looks older than me.

“My name is Lydia, in the third year.

Even if you don’t have a last name, don’t ignore it because you have the magic to match your school uniform.

So what’s her name? Oh, if you have a last name, you have to tell me the last name as well. I have to check it.”

“This is Eric Breslau.”

At that, the little girl who introduced herself as Lydia blinked her eyes.

Then he claps his hands once and looks around at me and says.

“Breslau, you are high!

But I think I heard that she was a woman, but I was mistaken..?

Anyway, I’m going to put some rulers on her body, so don’t be too offended, hee.”

Next, I measured her whole body and started to float the cloth gently in the air, looking at something scribbled on the notebook.

Then, after muttering something strange, the area around her clothes starts to glow blue.

In an instant, fabric met fabric and threads were woven here and there to make a single garment.

And neatly made clothes are folded and dropped in the air.

Lydia managed to catch it with both of her hands.

“Um, would you like to try it on?

If there is something you want to add, tell me right away.

Ah, I’ll close the door! I won’t even peep, so don’t worry and change!”

Blindfolded, he spoke in a humorous tone and handed me the uniform.

From the outside, it looks pretty small.

Anyway, when I go into the room, close the door, and change into my school uniform, the unique smell of freshly woven fabric rises.

Although it smelled a bit unpleasant and refreshing, it smelled like flowers, as if it had been sprayed with perfume.

The clothes fit my body perfectly enough that I didn’t feel uncomfortable even if I stretched my arms, bent my waist, and stretched my legs here and there.

As I opened the door again, a little boy with eyes full of anticipation, no Lydia, asked.

“How is the fit?”

“Perfect.”

“Yes!? Would you go that far, or would you even consider hiring me?”

“Unfortunately, this is not a position I can hire.”

“… Um, can’t you tell me what’s wrong with your clothes now instead of saying anything later, sir, not my junior?”

This is a position that is really unattainable.

Because Xenia can do it.

But it must have had a different meaning to this human being, and he thought I would find fault with him later.

My head hurts when respectful and flattering words come and go in such a confusing way.

I wish I could pick just one.

“Did you say Lydia?”

“Perhaps I committed blasphemy… No, since this is an academy, that doesn’t apply, but I still can’t leave here…… “

Lydia is gibberish and she can’t answer properly.

Well, even if it were me, I would be like this if I knew that the heir to the duchy right in front of me was thinking of arguing against me.

The life of a commoner is not a metaphor, it is literally the life of a fly.

“There is a separate successor. As you know, she is a woman.

I’m not a very high-ranking person, so there’s no need to treat me harshly.”

“But I didn’t hear that the duke had two children..?”

How can I say this?

I’m actually an illegitimate, so it’s okay if I don’t care?

Or is it okay to let go of my status because I’m no different from you?

I’ve been thinking about it, but I can’t come up with a very good answer.

“If a child was born in the slightest inappropriate way, you might want to hide it.”

As if he understood what it meant, he opened his mouth by punching his palm like a kid in a neighborhood.

Then, she blushes a little and asks me if she was ashamed to have flirted just now.

“Anyway, you have no intention of blaming me for faults, do you?”

“Why would I?”

“Anyway, as long as the clothes are comfortable, that’s fine! If later your clothes are torn or the spell fades, you can come to me.”

“Well, you have to tell me where to go.”

“Look at my mind. Here, you can come here! Then I’ll go to the other room, I have a lot to do.”

She hands me a business card and goes to the room next to her.

Seeing her wandering around is just like looking at the short Xenia.

She used to do that when she was little, and I still remember her.

I go back into my room, throw my business card on the desk, and lie down on the bed.

I tried to fall asleep while thinking about it, but I couldn’t.

I stared at the black dot on the ceiling, then twisted her body to lie down.

I look at the ceiling again, feeling uncomfortable for some reason.

And I looked up at the ceiling.

I looked up at the ceiling.

I looked up at the ceiling.

I looked up at the ceiling.

Looking out the window, the sun has long since gone down.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I must have fallen asleep without closing the curtains yesterday.

Maybe it’s because of waking up under the scorching sunlight, but I feel not very pleasant.

After taking a rough shower and wiping my body with the provided towel, I put on my school uniform again.

Because it was made to fit my body, it definitely had to be comfortable.

The clothes I’ve been wearing so far have been worn as long as they’re roughly the right size.

But how do you do the laundry when you only have one school uniform?

If you ask the teacher, he will answer.

Come to think of it, I haven’t seen her face since I had lunch with Xenia the day before.

Isn’t this the longest time we’ve been apart since we first met?

When I entered the classroom alone with a book, a group had already formed.

It was clear that none of them were commoners, as the old-fashioned etiquette that seemed to come out of a book permeated every time they moved.

Perhaps the children who are separated one by one are friends without last names.

To kill time, I take out a notebook and try to spell it out roughly.

And after a while, Mr. Louise comes in.

Then the gathered children scattered and began to sit in their respective seats.

I also put the note in my arms.

“Before the class begins, we don’t even know each other’s names, right?

So, by my standards, I will introduce myself starting from the right in the front row.”

After saying that, Louise cast a burdened glance at her student.

Her student hesitantly said her name, and Louise looked at the student next to her, saying next.

Continuing to do so, Louise has her students name themselves.

I don’t know where it is, but seeing as most of them say their last names, I wondered if there were two or three commoners.

And then my turn comes and I say my name.

“Eric… “

I intended to end by saying only my first name without saying my last name.

I could feel the gaze.

Louise doesn’t say that she’s next.

Then everyone’s eyes were fixed on me.

“Eric … This is Breslau.”

“Next.”

When they heard the word Breslau, the students started whispering.

The person called the successor must have been a woman, and he hadn’t heard that there was another son in the duke’s family.

I glared at her Louise once and then, pretending not to care, crossed her legs, opened her book, and flipped through her pages.

It’s been a long time since the last student finished his self-introduction, but he still sees me and is full of muttering.

“Then, now that we know each other’s names, there shouldn’t be any problems with our classes.

Open the book right away, because it will be a bit tight to learn everything in a month and even give the test.”
