54 – The end of the holiday

The lady stared at me with bloody ax eyes all through lunch. Did I make a mistake with you today? He pondered, but nothing came of it. The only time I saw the lady today was to say that she was going to the shopping district in the morning.

I didn’t know whether the delicious northern food went into my mouth or my nose, but I had to eat it in a hurry and get the lady’s glare as I left the restaurant.

Since you did that without saying anything, I wish you would have said something… The scary eyes made my stomach tingle.

In the end, I wandered outside the castle all afternoon so as not to run into the lady. It may be a temporary measure, but it was an escape from the present reality.

…The future me will take care of it!

With that in mind, I enjoyed sightseeing with a light heart. After leaving the castle of the Ursa family, where there were a lot of muscular people, I wandered around watching the people of the territory go about their daily lives.

“Oh, that oppa has black hair! I’ve never seen black hair!”

As I was passing by, a little child pointed at my head and shouted, and the woman who appeared to be the child’s mother covered her mouth and bowed her head, saying she was sorry.

I guess my dark hair is recognized here too. I was the only one with common black hair, even after washing my eyes and looking for it.

Maybe that’s why whenever I heard something like that, I still felt like a stranger.

I went on my way, smiling shyly at the woman and child, saying it was okay. Like the empire, I felt some people staring at me, but it wasn’t excessive. Rather, it was only to the point of watching for a while because I was busy with work to do.

Unlike the situation in rumors and novels that it is always dangerous due to demons beyond the northern barrier and rough because it is the farthest place from the empire, I was surprised to see it lively.

Well, it was a cold winter when the main characters of the novel came. Because of the rough snowstorm, it was impossible to properly observe the beasts’ movements, so everyone here had no choice but to be on the alert.

So I liked this peaceful daily life. The beautiful images of people living diligently without waiting for the coming tomorrow, children chatting after their working parents, sharing things with their neighbors and talking about their current situation.

I passed the time blankly watching them, and at sunset, on the way back to my room, a young lady with an axe eye was standing in front of my door with her arms crossed.

“Don’t you have something to tell me?”

It was the moment before my daily life was about to be shattered before my future self arrived.

“…Was wrong.”

“What did I do wrong?”

If men were to pick the number one word that scares them the most, wouldn’t that be it? My body trembled with fear. I asked for help from Mr. Louis Thena, who was passing by, with a desperate look, but he snorted and shook her head resolutely and went on his way. Why…

“Tell me, what did I do wrong?”

She said what came to mind as she trembled at her eyes full of anger.

“…Didn’t you tell me about your drunken behavior…?”

“That’s not it, but did you hide that fact too? I’ll have to hear that too.”

The young lady took a step closer to me.

“I wasn’t with the lady in the afternoon…”

“It’s after being angry, but thinking about it makes me angry.”

You are one step closer. Why is it my mood that makes me feel like everything I say is ruining me?

“Yesterday… About not sleeping together…”

“…That’s not it.”

A slight blush bloomed on her face, but she did not back down and took a step closer.

“Really, don’t you know anything?”

“Suck…”

The body of the young lady who came right in front of her gave off the thick scent she smelled when she needed blood. She backed away slightly and covered her nose.

“…Is that time again?”

The young lady’s axe’s eyes were untied at my unsightly figure, unable to speak and merely nodding. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled lightly.

“Really…The more you go, the more stupid and clumsy you show. Really.”

I thought so too. She had so many things to hide that she got hit with something she couldn’t handle and made her lady angry.

“…Sorry…”

“I’m sorry again. Didn’t I tell you not to write lightly?”

The young lady’s fist lightly pierced my chest. She wasn’t sick because she was only pretending, and I laughed at her mischievous tone.

“…Smile at what you did well.”

I had to stop laughing right away.

I was going to scold him out loud, but I didn’t even have the energy to get angry at Sirius’ stupid act of hurriedly covering his nose and holding back his smell.

What am I going to do when I get mad at him? A sigh came naturally from the stupid butler who didn’t even know his heart. But I can’t forgive him for going outside even though he looked angry.

I thought I should solve that first and talk slowly as I was downcast with my nose plugged ridiculously after being scolded for even laughing.

“Let’s go inside.”

It was the same room as the one I was assigned here, but it smelled a little like Sirius, so I felt at ease.

Sitting on the bed, I took a folding knife out of my pocket, opened it, and slit my palm. Red blood trickled up from between the wounds.

“Lady?”

He said, holding out his palm to Sirius, who was taken aback by what he had to do.

“Now. You need blood to fix that, right? Drink it now.”

“…”

I hesitated for a while, and as the blood flowed through my palms and into my fingers, I knelt down on one knee, held my hand with both hands, and licked the wound.

The way he slowly climbed up from his bloody finger and started licking the wound looked like a puppy eating a snack in my hand, so I stroked his head with the other hand.

“Your anger isn’t over yet, so be ready when you finish drinking.”

“Yeah…”

“Wow…”

Sirius answered, letting out a moan as the breath from his open mouth touched his wound. He hurriedly covered his mouth with his other hand to keep his moans from leaking out.

Sirius, who was licking his wounds at the moans he had spat out, was unable to meet my eyes as his face turned red. His back trembled and his whole body felt itchy. His palms aren’t that sensitive, but they trembled whenever Sirius licked them.

“Ah…Not yet…?”

“…”

His whole body trembled again in the same situation as the last time, but Sirius didn’t seem to want to let go of my hand. After licking my wounds for a while and savoring the taste, when he put it in his mouth, his hands were covered with Sirius’s saliva.

“…I’ll clean it up for you.”

Sirius takes a handkerchief out of his pocket and wipes it off. Mysteriously, when he saw his palm, which had healed as if he had applied a potion, his head tilted.

“Does some needle have a potion effect? Or did you drink a potion?”

“It’s the first time I’ve seen it…”

“Yeah, what do you know? Sit next to me when you’re done.”

I stared at the face of Sirius, who was sitting next to me. Still unable to make eye contact with his reddened face, he was staring at me like a guilty puppy in a sense of guilt.

Why does the more I look at it, the more I look like a puppy? My anger melted away at that cute figure.

“Are you okay now?”

“…Yes, sorry for bothering you every time.”

“Yes. I have a really annoying butler.”

“Yes…”

When I showed the servant who was at a loss for what to do with the owner’s sarcasm, I burst into laughter. What if we were real childhood friends instead of a master-servant relationship?

If so, would I have confessed my feelings to you long ago? If so… What would our relationship be like? Like Laland and Alte…

The two shook their heads as the thought came back to them. I wanted to forget, but the big thing that I couldn’t forget was stuck in my brain and I couldn’t forget it, so my face became hot.

“You still don’t know why I’m angry?”

To calm down, I asked Sirius in a way to vent his anger. Sirius, who had scratched the nape of his neck, opened his mouth cautiously.

“Dear lady…You still have something to hide…Is that so?”

“Yeah, that’s a minor thing, but I didn’t tell you.”

When I finally got the answer right, I nodded and put my hand on his left chest.

“I actually knew. That you had that big scar. I watched when you were going to say it, but you didn’t tell me until the end? Then I was at the hot spring earlier, and I secretly overheard you and Laland talking. I’ll show it to Laland first. ..I got angry because I told you the truth.”

Sirius was so startled that he couldn’t follow his words, but he grabbed my hand on his chest. His warm but rough touch reminded him of the promise he had made on a summer day, and his heart thumped.

“So…You see…Then the reason…”

“Yeah. I even heard that it’s embarrassing to show it to me.”

“That’s not true…But I’m ashamed to show you for sure…”

“Can you… Show me just a little bit? Just the top part…”

I wanted to check in front of him with my own eyes once again. Even just a little bit, I wanted to face his scars that were engraved because of me.

He sighed at his earnest request, skillfully unfastened the yellow stock tie I had gifted him, the same color as Sirius’ eyes, and unbuttoned the buttons one by one.

I unbuttoned up to three buttons and pulled the shirt slightly to the left, revealing a distinctly different skin color next to the deep collarbone.

The scar I saw then still looked bigger than it did back then.

“…Isn’t it ugly? It’s not because of the lady… But you didn’t want to see it, did you?”

Sirius smiled bitterly and covered the scar with his shirt. No, that’s my fault Unlike when I secretly saw him, I was able to tell him now.

“I’m fine. This wound…Was made to protect me, to keep the promise I made with Mr. Gliese.”

I put my hand inside my shirt and put it near the wound. A subtle heartbeat echoed in my hand, along with body heat as warm as his hand.

“This wound was caused by me. So I promise you here. I will become stronger to protect you… So you don’t get hurt like this.”

My heartbeat, which had been subtle because of my determination, began to beat faster. Sirius, who had lost his sense of humor, opened his mouth to make him look stupid and tickled his hair like he often did when he was a child.

“…Thank you, words are enough.”

“I’m not a talker like everyone else.”

“Ahahahaha, that’s right. Lady, if you can do it, you do it. Really, I never thought I’d hear that from you.”

A smile appeared on Sirius’s now brightened face. Yes, even a silly smile like that is nicer to see than a gloomy one, you idiot.

“But what did I do when I was drunk?”

“…”

The hand he was stroking also stopped and Sirius’ smile stopped as he averted his gaze.

I try to avoid it again. Also.

Again, Sirius tried to run away, so he bit the hand that was stroking my head.

I promised that I wouldn’t hide anything from the lady in the future, but I couldn’t reveal anything about the moon yet, so I didn’t bring up anything related to it.

Instead, I told her that I was going to visit her after this vacation with a one-time meeting with the saintess coupon that was in my coat pocket, and she said yes. She questioned where she got the coupon, but she pretended to have received it in a letter.

Holidays in the rest of the North passed peacefully.

All of us joined in the jogging in the morning, and out of consideration for Mr. Ruitena, who was still weak, we turned weakly. She was struggling as if she was out of breath, but she followed along well.

I also looked at the occasional demon beasts in the demonic forest beyond the outer wall, and stopped by the blacksmith’s shop to purchase a folding spear that could be used by Mr. Ruitena.

It was a spear made for self-defense with 4 tiers, so it was easy to carry, and Mr. Ruy Tena liked it.

I looked at a greatsword that the lady could use, but it seemed that she didn’t like the sword I bought.

At night, the lady borrowed a greatsword from the Ursa family and had time to reflect on mistakes she had made during the welcome match.

After the set holiday period, Laland, Alte, and many warriors were seeing us off in front of the portal.

“I don’t know how you are.”

“Thanks to you, I had a cool time. I’ll visit often in the summer.”

“It’s okay to come over in the winter.”

“I’m really going to play puck.”

“Ha ha ha.”

Friendly greetings and jokes exchanged between Laland and the young lady as they shook hands. The people behind him also waved their hands and greeted me.

“Goodbye! When I come back, I’ll crush you with that proud leaping step!”

“I’m going to the next welcome ceremony, so please come!”

“Let’s have another drink together, kid!”

They smiled at their greetings and returned to the capital using the portal.

“…It’s hot.”

“Yes. The air is definitely different.”

I was breathless when I came to the capital, which is clearly lower than the northern part. Even though I had taken off my thick clothes, I felt like I was sweating.

“Let’s go to the mansion, young lady. I’ll get the carriage ready right away.”

“I’ll get you something to drink. Please wait.”

Soon after Mr. And Mr. Ruitena left us, each brought a wagon and a drink.

My uncle and I looked at a map to choose a place to stay overnight, and Mr. Ruy Thena wiped the sweat from the girl’s forehead and handed her a drink.

“So you’re saying we’re going to target the village where the police force is located?”

“Yes, given my luck, I definitely feel like meeting a group of bandits.”

“…Okay, let’s see our little butler’s luck.”

Less than three hours after leaving the capital, we met another group of bandits.

“Everything you have…”

“Do you like watching the sky? If you don’t like it, you will like it.”

Before I could finish my words, I gave them a quick look at the sky.

“Really, who is to say that he is not the successor, he is becoming more like William.”

Leaving behind the laughing man, only a sigh came out.

Whew.
