Aztec Eternals

Chapter 289: life and death

The scorching sun casts its rays, the bonfires burn with smoke, and the priests blow bone horns. The tribal leaders looked at the two heads by the fire pit with burning eyes, and shouted excitedly.

Giova and Nerpa stood opposite each other, each holding battle sticks. According to the tradition of the tribe, neither of them were equipped with shields, and the outcome was only a matter of moments. Giova raised his stick forward, his right arm slightly retracted, and he assumed a defensive stance.

"Come on, Nerpa, attack as much as you like! Just like when you were a child, when I trained you in martial arts!" Hearing this, Nerpa's eyes flashed. The age difference between the two is eight years old. They are both descended from the gods in the mountain city. In fact, they have known each other since childhood and fought side by side many times... Nerpa shook his head vigorously and said solemnly.

"Giova, thank you for your teaching back then, my martial arts have surpassed yours! You used to be my respected brother, but now, you are wrong!"

After speaking, Nerpa's expression became firm. He took small steps, raised the battle stick diagonally, slowly approached Giova, and then suddenly advanced diagonally!

Facing this powerful blow, Giova was well prepared. He took a quick step back, and then the battle stick lightly blocked, making a "dong" strike. The weapons of the two were instantly separated, and Nerpa immediately moved his footsteps to the left, changed his position, and fiercely swung his battle stick, another swift blow!

Giova frowned slightly and stepped back to block again. Nerpa is in his early thirties and is at the peak of his physical fitness. His movements are extremely fast and powerful, and his combat skills are not different, even more fierce! He is like a fluttering butterfly, constantly flying around Giova, and every time he approaches, it is a vital blow!

The stamina of the two was rapidly exhausted, and Giova's brows were furrowed more and more deeply, and the block action became more and more difficult. He was forced to keep moving backwards, and soon came to the flames of the fire pond, and there was no way to go back! Seeing this, Nerpa's eyes lit up, a triumphant smile appeared on his face, and then it turned into a touch of sadness.

"Giova, my brother. You are old, you are wrong, let me take you on your way! Roar!"

Nerpa let out a dull low roar, like a roaring beast. He strode forward, no longer holding on to his feet, and rushed within two steps of Giova. Then, he first made a quick vertical slash, causing the opponent's battle stick to lift up, then he turned the battle stick, held it with both hands, drew a clever arc, and sent a deadly horizontal slash towards the opponent's exposed waist and abdomen!

"ended!"

Giova's frowning brows suddenly unfolded, turning into an indifferent smile. He whispered a word, held the stick in both hands, made the exact same movement, and slashed the opponent's chest and neck with all his strength.

"Ancestral God!"

The tribal leaders in the venue suddenly exclaimed. The two heads of the regiment attacked each other's vital points at the same time, do they want to perish together?

"呲... clang!"

The slashing battle stick smashed through the cotton robes smoothly, breaking the surface of the cotton armor, and then suddenly stopped, making a sharp metal clash!

"What? This!..."

Nerpa's confident expression instantly froze. He first hit the opponent's key point, but he slashed on the solid metal, and he couldn't break the opponent's armor at all, causing real damage!

"Roar!"

Giova groaned in pain, but the attack movement was not deformed, still calm and powerful, hitting the key point.

The battle stick is coming in an instant, and Nerpa's action is old, and there is no time to dodge. He tried his best, turned slightly sideways, and then there was a sharp pain in his chest.

"what!"

Giova smashed the cotton armor, and once he succeeded, he did not give the opponent any chance to come back. He stepped forward again, pulled out the copper axe from his waist with his left hand, and slashed at Nerpa's neck mercilessly!

"Uh...poof..."

Blood spurted instantly, splashing Giova's head and face, making his world a bright red. Nerpa only let out a half scream, and suddenly lost his strength. He seemed to have been punctured by the swim bladder in an instant, just like that, spouting blood, and fell softly to the ground.

Giova quickly took two steps back and quickly wiped the warmth from her eyes with her cuff. Then, he stared at Nerpa who was motionless, holding his weapon again, and walked forward slowly.

Nerpa opened his eyes wide and lay quietly on the ground, looking at the deep sky. His mouth murmured open and closed, but there was no sound, only the faint sound of blood flowing. Giova glanced at it, then squatted down carefully and put her ear to Nerpa's mouth.

"...Wa...you...wrong..."

Nerpa's eyes burst into the final light. He tried his best to open his mouth, but could only let out a faint whimper. As soon as Giova struggled to distinguish three words, the whimper disappeared completely in the wind.

Giova lowered her eyes, reached out her hand, and closed Nerpa's wide eyes. Some past events appeared in his mind, and he was pressed down again. After a while, he spoke in a low voice to the old friend who had been inaudible.

"This turbulent world is ups and downs, like turbid fruit wine. This mountain city is vague, but the residue of winemaking... Nerpa, you and I toast each other, how can there be any right or wrong? It's just until death..."

After Giova finished speaking in a low voice, he closed his eyes and took a few breaths, as if he was praying silently. Soon, the cries of the tribal leaders sounded violently, and the boiling sound was like waves, lifting him up to the heights of desire!

"The leader of the mountain city!"

"Chief of the Otomi!"

"Bird shooter, king of birdmen!..."

Hearing the cheers of the crowd, Giova slowly got up with a cheerful smile on his face. In the inherited mythology, the ancestors of the Otomi people were hunters in the north of the plateau, and the meaning of Otomi is "bird-shooting man". They settled in towering mountain cities, and also acquired a certain divinity from the divine bird of the sky.

"Ancestral witness! The leader of the ancestral land of the mountain city, the heir to the ancestral scepter, is the god-born noble of the mountain city, Giova!"

The old female voice rang loudly, announcing the end of the election. Everyone's eyes were focused on the standing Xinhu Shiren, and no one paid attention to the blood-stained corpse lying down. Giova strode forward, took the ancestor's inheritance scepter from the previous leader's wife, and the cheers broke out again.

Giova looked around and walked towards the east of the venue. He came to the front of Shilot, slowly knelt down on one knee, raised the scepter in both hands, and bowed his head respectfully.

"His Royal Highness, I dedicate the glory of the Otomi to you, to the supreme king, to the sun of the Otomi!"

The venue was suddenly quiet, and the leaders looked at each other in dismay. This was a sacred ceremony of allegiance.

Under the banner of the wolf, Shulot smiled with satisfaction. He took Giova's scepter, squeezed the opponent's hair, and handed the scepter back to Giova again. Then, he took off the sun talisman around his neck and put it on Giova's neck in front of everyone.

"The Supreme Lord God blesses you! Giova, the great alliance witnesses everything. From today on, you are the lord of Ottopan and the leader of the Otomi people!"

Giova stood up and turned to everyone in the venue. He stood beside the king, holding up the ancestral scepter in one hand and holding the sun talisman around his neck tightly in the other. Seeing this historic scene, the tribal leaders lost their voices for a moment, and suddenly burst into a burst of enthusiastic cheers.

"The city lord of the Mexica Union, the leader of the Otomi people!..."

Flames burned in the eyes of the priest Saka. He passed Nerpa's icy corpse without looking at it. Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the Priest of Chaos walked up to Giova and shouted angrily.

"Giova, as the military leader of the tribe, you actually converted to the Mexican **** of war!"

"Saka priest, the **** of war is also our god, bless the Otomi people."

Giova narrowed her eyes and replied calmly.

"This is a blatant betrayal! Under the leadership of you and Otto, the Ortomi people are about to go down a wrong path and be abandoned by the ancestor gods!"

Saka growled, looked at the tribal leaders present, and cursed loudly.

"How can you not pay the price for taking refuge in the greedy Mexicans? Aren't you ashamed of abandoning the faith of the ancestors in front of the graves of the ancestors?!"

Hearing this, many tribal leaders turned their heads and did not want to meet Saka's eyes, obviously feeling guilty. Seeing this scene, Shilot frowned slightly, and quietly patted Giova on the shoulder.

"Saka, get out of the mountain city, you are the one who betrayed the tribe!"

Giova raised his scepter high and scolded sharply.

"Nerpa left his last words just before he died, and repented to me!"

"He said, the reason why you are enemies of the Mexicans and refuse the military aid of the Union is because you have already colluded with the canines of the north, made a kneeling contract, and abandoned the land of Palms! Everything you are doing now , all for the sake of power, without putting the future of the Otomi people in mind!"

Hearing this, the tribal leaders all turned pale. Some of them remained silent, some looked suspicious, and together they looked at the revered priest of Saka.

"What? What did you say?!"

Hearing this accusation, Sarkar's face was shocked and his eyes were red.

"This is utter slander!"

"Saka, the new leader of the mountain city has been selected! Although you are a noble Priest of Chaos, the priests of the mountain city do not welcome you. Please leave immediately and return to your family's fief! The truly noble one Priests, should lead the warriors to the northern front, and fight the savage hounds, instead of causing civil strife in the ancestral land!"

Alter raised his scepter and stepped forward. He stared silently at Saka's red eyes, and Saka stared at him. After a while, Saka looked at the expressions of the surrounding tribal leaders and gritted his teeth.

"Alt, you are wrong! The time of the ancestors will prove everything, and we will meet again!"

After finishing speaking, Saka led dozens of temple priests of the direct line and hundreds of loyal family warriors to go out of the city in despair.

Alter looked at Shiloh, and the king nodded affirmatively. Five hundred barbarian mercenaries had already been ambushed in the mountains and forests outside the city, and three hundred jaguar warriors were responsible for the finishing touches. The old priest looked back at Saka and the priests again and sighed heavily.

"Saka, we will see you again... Goodbye to the Kingdom of God!"
