Assassin’s Adventure

Chapter 96: fresh water problem

The route to Europe finally made Gordon feel what it means to be smooth sailing. With the help of the ocean current, even when the Jackdaw has a deep draft, it can reach a speed of eight knots.

There are no pirates, leaving the Caribbean, the most rampant area for pirates, the Atlantic Ocean feels a lot empty, and there are even privateers with the flag of England to greet the Jackdaw in a friendly manner.

Two years ago, Britain ended its war with Spain and other countries, and the privateers had only three options.

The first is to ignore it and become a pirate who has no scruples on the sea again. Of course, the result is to be surrounded and suppressed by the navies of various countries.

Second, merge into the East India Company and become a mercenary in the East India regional trade.

Third, when transforming into a merchant ship, all weapons must be restricted in accordance with the kingdom's merchant shipping standards and recorded.

However, there is no choice for the third way.

Gordon sat alone on the side of the boat with his feet dangling, holding a fishing rod made of ordinary wooden sticks. In order to pass the boring days of sailing, he decided to develop a special hobby, such as fishing.

Of course, Gordon doesn't have much talent for fishing in the ocean. Of course, a wooden stick with a thumb-thick hemp rope, a huge iron hook, and a small piece of jerky are in a fast sailing boat. The hook was caught in the bottom of the boat without exception.

Gordon lifted the hook, found resistance, and couldn't pull it.

"My dear, finally a fish is hooked!"

Gordon stepped back to the deck, and then with all his strength, he pulled.

Then he sat directly on the deck, causing a burst of laughter from the surrounding sailors.

Gordon didn't pay any attention to it. Now he only cares about his own fish. Did he catch it?

The hook was hung directly on the sail rope, and something was hanging on it, but because of the glare of the sun, it was difficult to see clearly.

"Mitch, help me see what that is!"

"It's algae, Captain!"

Mickey checked it carefully before answering.

"It's impossible, my bosun, how could it be possible to hook the seaweed with such a short rope? If it is seaweed, we will have to run aground."

Gordon couldn't believe it. How could this be seaweed?

"It's the seaweed at the bottom of our boat, Captain."

While speaking, the seaweed hanging from the top of his head finally fell on Gordon's head, wetting Gordon's hair.

"Well, it's really **** seaweed."

"Ha ha ha ha……"

The surrounding sailors laughed even more cheerfully, which made Captain Gordon's face unbearable.

"My sailors, have you finished your work? After ten minutes, I will start checking the deck, the cabin, and whoever is in charge of the area has dirty things, then you will be punished for a dinner!"

In that instant, all the sailors put away their smiles, feeling a little at a loss.

"Start the timer now, there are nine minutes and fifty seconds left!"

Gordon began to shout.

The sailors lying lazily on the entire deck acted in an instant. There are always a few sailors who will throw the leftover food scraps somewhere, which is not good for them.

Gordon scooped a spoonful of clean water from the wooden bucket on the deck, ready to clean the dirt on his head.

Jia threw the wet seaweed back into the sea, then scooped up a ladle of water and showered it on his head.

But it wasn't much better after rinsing, because Gordon had already smelled a stench from the water, and moss sticking to his shoulders.

"That's enough!"

As a person who has come from the 21st century, in the era when you can turn on the tap and you can have clean water flowing out, this kind of sanitation is simply unbearable.

"Deputy Morgan, do you know our drinking water status?"

Gordon shouted to Coolidge, who was at the helm above the ship building.

"Our fresh water is already smelly!"

Coolidge glanced back at him, fixed the rudder with ropes, and walked down at least 20 kilometers forward, without seeing any obvious islands and reefs.

"Of course I know, Gordon, that the sailors have already started mixing rum and ale, and cooking the food as you ordered, and it's all boiled."

Gordon just felt a tumbling in his stomach. The food he had eaten during this period, whether it was broth, or the brewed coffee and chocolate, were all boiled with this water, no wonder it felt a little strange.

He took a deep breath and tried his best to suppress the desire to vomit, but the temperature of the stinky water on his body stimulated his sense of smell wildly.

"Well……"

Gordon covered his mouth, finally ran to the side of the boat, and started emptying everything in his mouth toward the sea.

"Gordon, are you all right?"

Coolidge wanted to come over and comfort him.

"Morgan, ugh... go and get me a bottle of rum, thank you... ugh."

Finally, Gordon felt that his feet were softening, and all he spit out was acid water, so he walked back from the side of the boat and leaned against the main mast.

"Here, captain, your wine."

Coolidge handed a bottle of rum to Gordon, who rinsed his mouth with the wine and spit it all into the sea, which made him feel a lot better.

"Morgan, how many days has it not rained?"

"It's been fifteen days, Captain~www.readwn.com~ and according to the weather, tomorrow will be fine weather."

Morgan looked at the rolling clouds in the sky, but they were not heavy, like fish scales.

"Damn good weather."

Gordon complained loudly. He originally thought the rain would be annoying, but if it didn't rain, it would be even worse, especially for their long flight.

"Morgan, we have to find a small island to get fresh water. If it goes on like this, I don't think we can support it for long."

Coolidge thinks it's pretty good, isn't everyone sailing like this? They still have plenty of rum, and it's not dangerous yet.

But there's nothing bad about having enough fresh water.

"Well, Captain, I do know that there are so many islands on this route, but a little further east, we'll need an extra day's voyage to get to England."

A day is nothing, as long as there is fresh water, there is no problem in spending five or six more days.

"Then it's decided. Where is it?"

"Now we can only approach in that direction. Only at night can I determine our specific location through measurements."

"Then it's fine."

A few minutes later, Gordon endured his weak legs and began to check the cabin, but by this time it was almost cleaned up. Except for the smell, there was no conspicuous garbage. Of course, the result should be the same, but Gordon Let everyone know that the captain must speak his mind.

"Well, it's not bad, everyone, keep it up."

After a cursory glance, it showed the recognition of everyone's efforts, and then returned to the deck to take two breaths of fresh air.

"This is not the sailing I want!"
