Chapter: 31

“Ah, I see.”

“Haha… this will be fun! Going on adventures with a Human!”

“Are you sure? I thought vampire hunters were mainly hired by adventure guilds…”

“Are there still many of them now?”

“No. Recently there aren’t even any vampires, and it’s not like the country says to kill them if you see them, so there aren’t any now.”

“Well, that’s good then. Even if there were…”

Milim stopped in her tracks, her eyes shining like gold.

“I wonder if you could beat me.”

“Probably not.”

At the very least, the S-rank party members I know wouldn’t be able to. Maybe the Sword Saint could, but I couldn’t know since she will not take it seriously either, but she’d definitely be able to escape.

“By the way, I remember that vampires have a lot of weaknesses. They can’t walk around during the day, right?”

“That’s why I told you not to group me with those kinds of vampires. Sunlight, water, silver, crosses… none of them works on me.”

“What about a wooden stake through your heart?”

“There’s just a skill you need to have so you don’t die from getting a wooden stake through your heart. You would die too if you were stabbed through the heart.”

“I see. Wait, does that mean… you’re invincible?”

“Hmph! isn’t that right? There’s no one who can defeat me.”

“What about if I had become a Kin? Would I have been able to move during the day?”

“Ah…”

Milim turned away, sweat pouring down her face.

“Well, that’s a possibility, I suppose. I’m glad it didn’t happen.”

“Really…”

It’s true that would have been pretty inconvenient.

“However, depending on the situation, there are ways to work around those things.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes. Well, if we ever need to, we’ll talk about it.”

As she said this, Milim flapped her wings and flew away.

‘Cool. Wait!’

“【Black wings】”

‘Oh…!’

“What? No way…”

“Yes. It looks like I absorbed them.”

I had wings growing out of my back. They were fairly large and reminded me of bats or gargoyles.

“Can you fly with them?”

“I’ll try…”

I focused my energy on my wings and tried to fly.

“Oh?”

To my surprise, I was able to fly quite easily.

“Those wings are made with dark magic, so as long as you know how to use magic, flying is easy.”

“I see.”

“The thing to watch out for is running out of magic power. If they disappear while you’re in the air, a human would die.”

“I understand…”

I’ll have to use them cautiously. I didn’t feel like they were efficient enough for me to use them for long distance transportation. Maybe they’ll be useful for battle or short distances?

“Speaking of which, it would be nice to have a way to move around.”

“Yes…”

“Well, if you ride on this child, it will be faster to some extent, but it’s a bit small.”

Milim petted Rei who had turned into a Fenrir. He didn’t look that much different, just a bit more god-like maybe.

“Well, I’ll probably buy a carriage eventually.”

“If you learn to move through shadows, it could be faster.”

“Move through shadows… hmm.”

The idea came to my mind but the voice did not. It will probably take some time to learn it.

“Well, for now we can take our time. Let me hear all sorts of human stories.”

“Sure.”

So, with a rather lively atmosphere, we walked back home with our two companions.
