Chapter 272: A Treatment

Translator: LiamHW

Wait! The second ‘borrowed sword’ came so soon? And it was so sharp?

Song Qinghan shook his head, and then uttered firmly, “It’s not done by Xiaoyan.”

Wu Dahu raised his head and took a glance, and then retracted his hands and turned around to take the bowls, poured all the liquid within into the chamber pot. He then said in calmness, “Nothing can be fully guaranteed, what if he was forced to?”

Song Qinghan was utterly shocked, and after figuring out what Wu Dahu meant he frowned, answering, “Do you mean… that someone is threatening him?”

Wu Dahu delivered the two of the empty bowls to those hefty men outside the tent. Noticing the bewilderment on the men’s faces, he uttered calmly, “They were nice, please pass my gratitude to Lord Xiao.”

The hefty men exchanged glances there, with their lips moving slightly. In the end they failed to say anything but snorted at Wu Dahu and then left with disdain.

After that, Wu Dahu came back inside the tent again and spoke to Song Qinghan, “It’s possible but with some other factors involved as well, only paying him a visit will we probe the truth.”

Song Qinghan stood up abruptly, and then asked dubiously, “Should we go now?”

Wu Dahu pondered for a brief moment, and then shook his head, “Not now, the hidden ones are eager to see us in panic right now, so we have to wait and be patient.”

Song Qinghan nodded, as if everything in his mind had become crystal-clear. Seeing that Wu Dahu took his dagger and then inserted it into his boot, he couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, “What are you going to do?”

“Hunting for sure, I can’t just stay here and do nothing eyeing you being starved.”

Wu Dahu sounded naturally and he did not even raise his head to look at Song Qinghan at all.

What he said made Song Qinghan rather moved there, yet at the ensuing moment he started to worry, and he frowned while saying, “How are you supposed to hunt here? There is no prey at all but piles of corpses.”

However, to his surprise, Wu Dahu pulled his hands over directly and whispered, “Who told you that I would hunt outside? I mean, I can hunt here.”

Just before Song Qinghan could fully comprehend what Wu Dahu meant, he was pulled by the man outwards unknowingly. At the end they arrived at the kitchen which was pulsating with steams.

Song Qinghan couldn’t help but smile big as he finally figured out what ‘hunting’ meant under Wu Dahu’s context after Wu Dahu eventually loosened his hands and walked into the kitchen directly.

Not long after that, Wu Dahu came out of the kitchen with a handful of food in his hands. All the food seemed to be some delicate delicacies, and seemingly they were used to serve those commanders.

Noticing that Song Qinghan was still showing his worries on face, Wu Dahu came to comfort, “Don’t worry, I just took the one belonging to us, they don’t dare to rat us out.”

If, in fact, Song Qinghan wasn’t that feeble since he carried another baby in his belly, he would never mind having some simple meal together with Wu Dahu, after all, the food supply in the frontline was kind of insufficient. However, since he was carrying a baby himself alone, he had to eat something with nutrition to feed the child inside even though he was kind of a stoic person. With that intention to protect his upcoming child, he did not say anything further to complain but grabbed over the food from Wu Dahu’s hands and started eating in a slow manner.

After the duo finished their meal, someone came and visited them again outside. And this time the person was coming for Song Qinghan.

“Doctor Song, they say that you have the best medical skill, please check out my brother!”

Song Qinghan unveiled the curtain of the tent, and the next moment when he found the man outside was extremely anxious standing there, he turned around and went inside again to take the package he brought with him personally, while asking in a deep voice, “Tell me about your brother.”

If it was a common disease the man’s brother was facing, Song Qinghan would see the patient himself instead of the other when he unveiled the curtain. But since the patient did not show up, that should mean that the other party was currently pinned down without ability to move at all. And once he was unable to move, it would never be a small deal.

When the man peered in and fixed his gaze at Wu Dahu, he started rubbing the corner of his cloth as if he felt quite guilty there. And he uttered in a low voice, “Lord Wu…”

Noticing that there was no even a trace of change on Wu Dahu’s face, the man suddenly recalled the hearsay in his mind, and then he turned to Song Qinghan again, asking tentatively, “It turns out that Lord Wu really lost his memories? I thought it was a fake news…”

Upon hearing the statement of the man, Song Qinghan raised his eyebrows, “Why? Are you old acquaintance?”

Even though he was Wu Dahu’s husband, he never knew his subordinates or some other people in close relationship with him. Likewise, if Wu Dahu had to guess which patient was once treated by Song Qinghan, he would only get his brain empty as a blank sheet.

This was the way how they got along with each other. They supported each other but never meddled too much in the other party’s personal social interaction.

It could be seen that a hesitation was revealed on the man’s face. He nodded slightly and answered in a low voice, “I was the subordinate vice commander affiliated to Lord Wu before…”

There was no position like ‘vice commander’ within the Imperial Guards, so the only possibility was: The man was selected as a ‘vice commander’ by Wu Dahu in the soldier training.

Yet it was a pity for Wu Dahu failing to select the most suitable and trustworthy subordinate. Although the man in front was never like the others who tended to critize them, he would completely pale into insignificance when pitting against Xiaoyan showing no full confidence on Wu Dahu’s personality.

But to view this guy in a way viewing Xiaoyan was indeed an unfair event. After all, Xiaoyan had once experienced the death and life toegther with them, but the man in front got nothing.

Song Qinghan’s brain was running non-stop, and he nodded at the end after the man’s statement, “Oh really, so the patient who needs my assistance was also the subordinate of Wu Dahu before?”

They talked while walking outward, and the man casually took a glance at Wu Dahu. “Yes,” he then sounded in response to the question, “You’re right, and he is the youngest soldier within our team.”

And the sorrow in his eyes grew deeper as he found that Wu Dahu had no any reaction after his statement, and then he added, “In the past, Lord Wu had a high expectation on this boy…”

The boy stuff aroused Song Qinghan’s curiosity immediately, and he asked again, “Then what was the boy’s reaction after he got the news of Wu Dahu coming back?”

The man smiled bitterly, while his face was full of hesitation as if he was dithering whether he should explain or not. But after catching the glimpse of the immutable face of Wu Dahu again, he still chose to answer, “That boy chose to stay at the same boat with Lord Wu unconditionally. And the reason why he got injured was because he joined a fight against the ones who whispered about Lord Wu…”

Song Qinghan nodded thoughtfully. Well, it seemed that Wu Dahu had picked a trusted boy this time. If the injured boy bore no difference with the other people here, it would be unnccesary for him to go and treat anyway.

Half an hour later, they finally reached at a place which seemed to be a training field.

A man was caught in sight right at the center of the field, while the others surrounding him looked rather anxious, chirping. They were all cheered when they found the man came back with Song Qinghan aside, but shocked when they found the appearance of Wu Dahu in behind.

When Wu Dahu finally approached to them, they stood up abruptly and subconsciously, while there was a sparse noise burst among the crowd, “Lord Wu…”

Wu Dahu nodded, remaining his calmness on face. And he then took the initiative to be an assistant as he found Song Qinghan squatting and starting making his diagnosis.

However, instead of being a right-hand man, he seemed to be a real trouble maker when he reached out to use half volume of the liquor to help disinfect the scalpel. At the sight of this foolish behavior, Song Qinghan waved his hand with a bitter smile, “I appreciate your kind assistance, dear. But standing aside will be much helpful for me because I am afraid that you might break the blade of my tool.”

Probably Wu Dahu was conscious of the fact that he might be a trouble maker, he stood up slowly and obediently, while folding his palms on his back, supervising the crowd quietly and sternly.
