Chapter 264: End of The Journey

Song Qinghan’s face reddened with awkwardness after Xiaoyan’s statement, yet he still resisted to say anything and kept his mouth shut.

Well, if it was Wu Dahu who said so in sarcasm, he would definitely fight back with words.

However, to his surprise, Wu Dahu replied thoughtfully, “Well, what you said makes senses anyway, there is still a possibility for me to collude with Utan with a hidden scheme. So you’d better keep your eyes on me without moving off.”

As soon as Wu Dahu said so, Xiaoyan felt quite confused there and he then scratched himself on the head, tightened the legs on the horse again and escaped from the scene thoroughly.

Alas, it was quite a complicated mission to mediate between two quarrelling parties. Well, probably not getting himself involved would be the best choice for him.

Song Qinghan came to tease while his expression grew queerer, “Should I guard you when you are taking shower as well?”

Wu Dahu looked at him with surprise and responded slowly, “Didn’t you say that you’re my husband? Is it strange for you to serve me with warm bath?”

Upon hearing the word ‘serve’, Song Qinghan was suddenly irritated all at once, and then he cried out, “I am not serving you, alright? Better to say that you are serving me! Don’t try your luck to be so capricious because you forget everything. Well, if you share no difference with the other men…”

“Fine, I will serve you to bath.”

Wu Dahu interrupted abruptly before Song Qinghan finished his words.

Song Qinghan felt somehow he was trapped by Wu Dahu’s trick since Wu Dahu was being so natural saying that, he squinted his eyes, and sized up Wu Dahu from head to toe dubiously. Noticing that Wu Dahu did not deliver any abnormal expressions, he grumbled, “If you weren’t really amnesiac, I would really give you a lesson today. When have you been so talkative as a flirting genius!? What the…”

It was… It was so hard for him to remain his demeanor!

Song Qinghan sighed faintly, found a comfortable position in Wu Dahu’s arms, closed his eyes and rested.

It was a tough and long day! Being startled, frightened in such a long journey was really an exhausting task for Song Qinghan who was in his pregnancy, he really needed some good rest along the way! But in order not to be a stumbling block to Wu Dahu and Xiaoyan in this trip, he chose to bear the physical fatigue alone. At the time he finally came back to the warm embrace of Wu Dahu, he felt himself finally settled down with his mind released, and not long he drifted off to sleep.

After he was asleep, Wu Dahu lowered his head slowly and reached out to caress Song Qinghan on his smooth face. His eyes, at the same time, were overwhelmed with some unknown emotions.

Things had proven that Xiaoyan was indeed an extraordinary subordinate. He was completely the best pathfinder himself, and without the order made by Wu Dahu, he successfully found the most suitable route to go back to the Qingmu Region while perfectly getting rid of Mork’s tracing.

They rode through the night, and by the time dawn broke, their shoulders were wet with dew.

Song Qinghan slept soundly, and when he opened his eyes again he found he had landed on the ground with boiling mushroom soup in front of him.

The strong scent of fresh mushrooms kept flocking into his nose, whetting his appetite and the desire for the food.

When he sat up, a wooden bowl full of mushroom soup was served and delivered.

Wu Dahu added firewood without any expression and said slowly, “Try this out to satisfy your pitiful stomach, it has been sounding for like a whole night.”

Song Qinghan was about to drink the mushroom soup but pause midway as Wu Dahu said so. With guilt and embarrassment on face, he touched his belly subconsciously, “You shouldn’t blame me for being hungry, don’t you know that I still got a little one inside? Of course it is normal for me to be hungry so fast. How dare you, the one who spread the seed, say something like that…”

His eyes were firmly fixed on the meat skewer in Wu Dahu’s hand, the words in his mouth automatically muted, while his brain stopped running.

Wu Dahu raised his head to glance at Song Qinghan, and then explained patiently, “I am not sure when you will wake up, so I did not toast it because the toasted meat will lose its flavor after cooling down.”

Seeing that Xiaoyan also glanced over here from time to time, Song Qinghan came to know that they hadn’t even eaten the meat yet for his sake, so he sped up drinking the mushroom soup in his hands.

After Wu Dahu finished roasting, he delivered the finest part of the meat to Song Qinghan, and shared the rest to Xiaoyan.

Song Qinghan was about to enjoy his meal, but the next moment he caught a glimpse of Wu Dahu was completely absent-minded with the meat skewer in hand. With confusion, he asked, “What are you doing? Are you feeling bad right now or something?”

Wu Dahu was called back to reality by Song Qinghan’s voice. He instinctively shook his head and nodded in the direction of Little Shitou, “Is he big enough to eat meat?”

Song Qinghan followed Wu Dahu’s sight and then he noticed that Little Shitou was staring pitifully at the meat skewer in Xiao Yan’s hand, with suspicious drool marks at the corners of his mouth. Such an amusing scene made Song Qinghan chuckle.

Xiaoyan was holding the meat skewer not too high or too low. He was right now dithering whether he should eat the meat under the thirsty gaze of Little Shitou. Such an action seemed to be a torture for Little Shitou.

The smell of the meat was so tempting that he was afraid if he did not eat it, he would be drooling just like Little Shitou.

Noticing the embarrassment Xiaoyan was facing, Song Qinghan took the initiative to walk over and pick up Little Shitou in his arms, while delivering a smile to Xiaoyan, “Thank you for taking care of Little Shitou along the way, eat the meat yourself.”

Xiaoyan finally came to be at ease as his expression on face was demonstrating his relief. But at the sight of Little Shitou’s gloomy eyes, he frozen again as if he just witnessed a starving little demon. He then turned around trying to escape the gaze from Little Shitou and started enjoying his own share of meat.

Without the lure of the meat, Little Shitou was nestling in Song Qinghan’s arms quietly. And then Song Qinghan raised his head to look at Wu Dahu, “Did you feed him with the mushroom soup?”

Seeing Wu Dahu nod, Song Qinghan reached out and touched Little Shitou’s stomach. He found that Little Shitou’s stomach was filled with nothing but liquid, and then he smiled bitterly, tore the meat in his hand into tiny pieces and soaked them into the soup.

Little Shitou was completely cheered as he found that another food was served to him. He was so happy that he even straightened his back, clapping his chubby palms, “Femi Daddy! Good! Daddy! Bad!”

Wu Dahu was utterly stunned, and took a glance gloomily at Little Shitou without words.

Song Qinghan was quite satisfied as he found that Wu Dahu was finally ‘belittled’. He reached out to caress Little Shitou on his cheek indulgently, and then fed the little one with the mushroom soup mixed with shredded meat.

Probably because he was afraid that the meat would get cold after Song Qinghan finished feeding Little Shitou, Wu Dahu took over Little Shitou in his arms and snatched the soup bowl from Song Qinghan’s hands, saying in a deep voice, “I’ll feed him, you should eat your own food now.”

Seeing that Wu Dahu’s posture was obviously unfamiliar when he first started to hold Little Shitou, Song Qinghan was about to deliver him a guidance. But the next moment he found Wu Dahu adjusted his posture himself as if he was a master of his own craft, so that both of them could maintain a more comfortable position.

Song Qinghan’s eyes flashed with relief as he lowered his head and commenced eating the share of meat. The picture of how Wu Dahu fed Little Shitou made him so warm inside.

By the time they had finished their breakfast, it was almost time to go on their way again.

Xiaoyan spoke to Wu Dahu with his eyebrows frowned, “Lord Wu, we’re about to enter the Qingmu territory within hours. How are we supposed to explain when we come back to the army camp?”

Xiaoyan was, as Song Qinghan could clearly infer right now, a flexible-minded man who knew how to devise a plan from the very beginning to the final end. After all, he who was of pedantry would never ask a question like that but immerse into the happening matter itself instead of considering a better backup solution.

Yet on the other side, Wu Dahu was still remaining his plain and faint look there. He stared at the direction where Qingmu Region sat, and then uttered emotionlessly, “Just tell them the truth, do you really think that they have no way at all to ask for the news about us?”
