199. Sentenced To Prison

Song Qinghan took a thoughtful glance at him, and then answered slowly, “You will let him believe, right?”

Lianyue got tense all of a sudden, he wondered whether Song Qinghan had come to figure something out or not. And instead of confessing directly, he delivered an embarrassing smile to Song Qinghan, nodding and saying, “I will try my best to make him believe.”

Since the deal was made, Song Qinghan and Lianyue decided not to waste time anymore. They walked out the room directly, and gathered everyone else in the center parlor and waited for the Grand Coordinator.

Not long, the Grand Coordinator finally showed up in the house. After being informed by the commander among the guards, he glanced at Song Qinghan and interrogated, “Had he been here before?”

Song Qinghan looked around left and right, and motioned Hualian and the others to withdraw. After that, he fixed his gaze to probe the people whom brought by the Grand Coordinator here.

Well, what he intended to do was rather easy to comprehend, so the Grand Coordinator raised his right hand in the air waving, motioning Zhuxiu to bring the others to withdraw as well.

“Lord, …” Zhuxiu seemed to be quite concerned over this decision and he spoke. But he didn’t dare to talk further while the Grand Coordinator responded with his extremely cold eyes. With resignation, he had to bring the other subordinates to withdraw right now.

Everyone left the house except Song Qinghan, Wu Dahu, Lianyue and the Grand Coordinator. It was not until the room finally regained its peace did Song Qinghan came to utter, “He did come here just then, but he came for Lianyue. With regard to the details of the matter, Lianyue should know it better, maybe he should talk.”

For some reason, Lianyue seemed to have been extremely anxious after the Grand Coordinator showed up in the house. He was clasping both his hands tight while all his fingernails were turning into pale by the force.

Noticing that the Grand Coordinator was fixing his gaze right on him, he opened his mouth, but failed to say something or make a sound of a single word as if he was choked by someone by the throat.

The Grand Coordinator frowned, and then removed his gaze off Lianyue, but turned to looked at Song Qinghan, seemingly attempting to acquire an explanation from him.

Even though Song Qinghan still remained his expression on face, he felt rather annoyed in mind because he never expected that Lianyue would transformed so quickly from a sly ‘fox’ to a timid ‘bunny’ under the gaze of the Grand Coordinator.

But fortunately, just at the moment the embarrassed Lianyue finally plucked up all his courage after he sensed that the atmosphere here was becoming weirder, he tried to open his mouth again, and finally confessed everything to the Grand Coordinator with his fabricated story.

The Grand Coordinator stood there silently listening, and then asked after Lianyue finished his talking, “Why was he willing to let you stay?”

Lianyue paused suddenly while his eyes were filled with dejectedness as if something occurred to him with no signs, he then responded in a low voice, “Maybe it is out of his concerns over the security of his country.”

This answer did not exceed the expectations of the Grand Coordinator, so he did not choose to bother to ask Lianyue further for more information, but instead he threw the question back to Song Qinghan.

“That wasn’t what Lu Sen said earlier. AND, you didn’t make any objections at that time.”

Song Qinghan did not put up with an anxious attitude nor did he deliver a negative one, but answered, “Because we just knew the fact just then from Lianyue, and before that, we always thought that Lu Sen was a trustworthy and honest man who offer a service for guidance.”

The Grand Coordinator squinted his eyes slowly, and then questioned again with doubt, “So, do you know the fact that the mixed-race man was already rescued by someone and left?”

Since Dagou and Ergou were still right here, so naturally Song Qinghan couldn’t make it to hide everything up about the mixed-race man. In that case, he never intended to cover the matter of mixed-race man up to the Grand Coordinator, but came to answered in calmness, “With regard to the mixed-race man, I was just responsible to cure him under the requirements of the residents in that village. Yet as for the reason why he still can leave with his broken legs, we have no idea towards it.”

While he said so, he secretly praised Muhammad in mind about his capacity to get the mixed-race man and the triplets out under the siege of the guards outside. He seemed to be quite good at rescuing people without being detected by the others. What an incredible man he was!

The Grand Coordinator glanced at the three with his eyes filled with suspicion, tapping slightly on the table with his index finger as if to alarm the three to come back to their senses. And after that, he uttered abruptly, “I suppose that all of you should know what crime of shielding is meant to be. And it will be put into a far more serious case if you guys dare to shield the enemy from Northern minorities. I will now give you one last chance, and will not investigate further if you confess to me with the truth right away.”

The three who were all interrogated right now seemed to be rather tacit in minds, it was Song Qinghan who took the initiative to respond without even exchanging glance with Lianyue and Wu Dahu, “We ARE telling you the truth.”

A dreadful silence fell on the room after Song Qinghan said so. And after a brief moment, the Grand Coordinator patted wrathfully on the table and commanded the subordinates outside to come in and arrest Lianyue, and then he turned to Song Qinghan, saying, “Keep this in mind. Nothing evil is going to be hidden up forever. As long as the evilness had once been done, there must be some traces left. I hope that you won’t be regretful in the future for what you have just done today.”

And after that, he flicked his sleeves out of anger, and was seemingly ‘angry for the cowardice’.

As being ready to be taken away, Lianyue turned his head back to look at Song Qinghan. And Song Qinghan nodded to him with confidence, while suddenly shouting as if he had thought of something abruptly in his mind, “Even a vicious tiger will not eat its cubs! Remember that!”

Upon hearing that, Lianyue stared at Song Qinghan with his eyes opened wide while his lips were trembling slightly as if he intended to say something. But he failed to say anything himself eventually. As the figure of Song Qinghan in his sight gradually shrank visually, he could do nothing but sighed heavily, and then turned his head back to his front.

The Grand Coordinator commanded his subordinates to put Lianyue into jail. No one would really know whether it was out of his purpose or not that he picked an innermost compartment for Lianyue. It was the compartment which allowed him to have a preciser daily check.

Some convicts were sitting on the ground while the others were lying, but all of them looked at Lianyue with gloomy eyes. Getting tense, Lianyue subconsciously leaned over to the Grand Coordinator.

Even though he himself possessed such a sufficient bravery to trek from the state capital to here, and was brave enough to take the initiative to be the scapegoat bearing the crime of treason, that didn’t mean that he was completely omnipotent. Well, in other word, he was no more than a femina man who was physically weak enough, he would retch when he smelt the rotten and disgusting odor festering in the prison cell, would be afraid when he looked into the eyes of emptiness of the other convicts.

The Grand Coordinator seemed to have detected the slight movement of Lianyue, he dodged purposely and tilted to the other side, while commanding the subordinates to bring Lianyue into the prison cell. After that, he stood outside the prison cell and spoke to Lianyue, “Probably the mice are right there under the quilt because that is an optimized place where they can build a nest. You’d better eat fast when your meal is served, or otherwise the roaches will rob it from you. You’d better not overturn the chamber pot because no one will clean it up for you.”

The more he said, the paler Lianyue’s face was. And eventually it was hard to find any healthy redness on his complexion, and currently he looked like a lifeless corpse.

Lianyue couldn’t help but shiver physically, he walked to the front of the Grand Coordinator timidly, and then uttered with a sobbing tone, “Do you have to lock me in here? I am not able to escape anyway, you can lock me up in a woodshed or somewhere. In addition, aren’t you going to bring me to the trial? I didn’t even make a serious mistake, why did you treat me like that?”

As he said so, he commenced sobbing there as if something suddenly occurred to him in his mind.

The Grand Coordinator frowned. Seeing that Lianyue was bawling in groggy as if almost to faint away the next moment, he couldn’t help but utter, “They are two different cases I will definitely release you after I make a further investigation and confirm that you are not involved in this affair. But before that, stay in here!”

If it was the other convict who was begging right away, the Grand Coordinator would directly turn a cold face and leave without willingness to have a further negotiation. Yet right now the one who was standing in front of him was no one else but a femina man in pregnancy, he wasn’t able to keep his eyes blind to the fact. Or probably he was old enough now being rather emotional.

Thinking of this, he suddenly came back to his sense and decided not to be indecisive anymore. Glancing at Lianyue for a brief moment, he said expressionlessly, “I will bring you to the trial tomorrow, you… ugh, ugh.” coughing.

No one knew whether it was because that the air with dampness here in the prison was unbearable or not, the Grand Coordinator started coughing in a row.
