181. Someone Knocked The Door

Wu Dahu seemed have learnt a lot about the ‘tricks’ that he would use Little Shitou as a shield to threaten Song Qinghan.

And indeed, it was definitely a trick he was unable to unveil because it was hard for him to ignore the feeling of Little Shitou. On the other hand, he would be totally relaxed with ease to entrust Hualian and Yuan Wenxuan to take care of the baby.

In fact, it should be mostly Hualian’s and Yuan Wenxuan’s credits to take care of Little Shitou the most of time even though Song Qinghan was the main role in taking that responsibility.

After all, this place full of ancient elements was not like the modern one he had been living in, they who gave birth to the baby should bear the main responsibility for parenting and raising. Unlike the modern time, femina fathers (maternal part) here seemed to be increasingly insignificant except the ten months before due day, kids would not be that much intimate with them.

However, even if it was not that intimate, it was still a piece of flesh which was apart from his body. Furthermore, Little Shitou was rather clever, pretty adorable with affectionately chubby face, and Song Qinghan loved him so much. He definitely would never be tired of accompanying by Little Shitou’s side if Wu Dahu wasn’t assigned with such a mission.

Well, fish and bear’s paw couldn’t be gained at the same time. In other word, he had to make a choice between husband and son.

Seeing that Wu Dahu had thrown another trouble, Song Qinghan now thought that a fierce glare couldn’t represent his current wrath in mind. So he rose from the seat directly, walked outward to the yard.

Although he didn’t look back, he knew that Wu Dahu would follow him obediently.

After he stood still in a circumstance with a bleak light, he turned around abruptly. Eyeing that Wu Dahu was behaving like a student who was about to get taught while looking at him with a puppy-like eyes, Song Qinghan failed to speak solemnly.

“Alas, I won’t leave Little Shitou behind. Don’t worry, but I can’t leave you behind either!” he suddenly uttered.

“How about this,” he paused and pondered, suddenly something seemed to occur to him in a flash, “I am considering taking Little Shitou with me and going to the front line together with those lame doctors, and you go to apply for the exemption for the combat but instead being a backup support with us. I won’t believe that the doctors at front line do not have any assistants at all.”

Embarrassment overwhelmed on Wu Dahu’s face when he heard so. He sank into a long silence without words after that, as if he never knew what he should say in the most appropriate way.

Noticing that, Song Qinghan added as if he had already seen through everything in Wu Dahu’s mind, “Well, sorry, the idea for you as a man among men might be a bit difficult, let me think of another way.”

Although Song Qinghan’s tone was rather flat when he said so, Wu Dahu could still clearly detect the grievance in his words. He then smiled bitterly and answered, “I will give it a try, but… It should be difficult.”

Actually, Song Qinghan also knew this principle. After all, He Ning did play a significant role in assisting Wu Dahu to gain such a decent official job. Since the other members in Imperial Guards were all involved in the war, he should join the combat either.

He sighed softly, looked down at Little Shitou who was sleeping sweetly in his arms and said softly, “We will negotiate later, there will be a way out anyway.”

“Alright.” responded Wu Dahu. His mind now was ladened with bunch of reluctance and sorrow when he detected the melancholy was climbing up between Song Qinghan’s eyebrows.

The next morning when Song Qinghan was still sleeping, there came a scream of Hualian outside the room.

“Young master, Young Mistress, here, here comes a barbarian outside the door…”

Song Qinghan opened his eyes abruptly, he didn’t even bother to rub his eyes to adapt to the first glimmer of sunlight, and he subconsciously asked, “A barbarian?”

In fact, he didn’t get a good sleep last night at all since he was tossing and turning to conceive of a way about Wu Dahu’s deal. As a result, his head was still a bit dazzling, and as soon as Hualian shouted the word ‘barbarian’, he just misunderstood that the Northern minorities were now attacking the city where they stayed.

It was Wu Dahu who reacted and he frowned and asked, “Is he coming for the triplets? Or the mixed-race man?”

Wu Dahu’s inquiry did remind Song Qinghan of something. He couldn’t help but suddenly cringe at the thought that there were still two troubles within the family. Without a further consideration, he got up suddenly and rose from bed.

Whomever the man outside was looking for, it wasn’t someone who should be treated with an indifferent attitude. Otherwise, probably there would be a bigger trouble waiting ahead.

Hualian dithered for a moment, and at the end he still plucked up all his courage, “I, I am not quite sure either…”

As soon as his voice fell, Song Qinghan had already reached out to open the door of the room and then got to the gate directly without talking any further nonsenses. Through the crevice in the door Song Qinghan was peeking, at the moment he caught the glimpse of the figure outside, he finally knew why Hualian was being so flustered.

Although the man outside the gate came here alone, his temperament given out was unbelievably frightening. His nearly 190cm height amplified his physical advantages infinitely while his solid and muscular muscles could demonstrate something threatening.

With just one glance, Song Qinghan could affirm that Wu Dahu wasn’t his competitor at all.

He pulled the door open and asked in calmness, “Anything I can help? Or who are you looking for?”

The man narrowed his eyes and asked with a faint and wry smile, “Who else do you get here?”

It was not until the man asked so did Song Qinghan finally come to know he might have leaked something.

It was quite odd for one to ask a stranger about whom he was looking for instead of asking who he was.

Luckily, he indeed got a tough mental fitness himself, so it didn’t bother him that much, but answered remaining his calmness, “Well, it is YOU who come here to look for someone, not that I am begging you to do so. If you are not that hurried, you can go over there for a brief rest.”

After that, he raised his hands, seemingly intending to close the door.

Beyond his expectation, a big palm blocked the door at the moment he was about to shut it. He raised his head and saw that the man was smiling while saying, “I’m here for that mongrel.”

Song Qinghan was utterly stunned hearing that, seemingly he didn’t expect that the giant man would be so straightforward. And then he gestured in politeness, saying, “Please follow me.”

He still remembered the story in Lu Sen’s version that the one who looked for the mixed-race man didn’t like to be found at all. But how came this man came in so crudely? Wasn’t it because the other party had changed?

After he got the man into the room where the mixed-race man stayed and came back again in the yard, Lu Sen emerged from nowhere and approached to grasped Song Qinghan’s sleeves, while whispering nervously, “That’s him! He is the one I saw long before! He didn’t even change in his appearance.”

Song Qinghan quite understood his worry. After all, that man attempted to kill him the day when they met each other. So even though the man didn’t say anything threatening, Lu Sen was still haunted by the fear.

“No rush. Let’s go to another room. He can’t see or hear it.”

The two of them walked into the empty room in the distance. Lu Sen took several sips of cold tea before calming down. He reached out to wipe the sweat off his forehead and said in fear, “It’s been so long. Why is he still the same as before? Nothing has changed at all? Could they possess some demon skills themselves?”

Song Qinghan laughed and shook his head, “You didn’t catch his detailed appearance just then because you did not even get approach. I did notice a lot of fine lines and wrinkles on his face. He isn’t that young as you mentioned.”

If one didn’t take a closer look, he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the Northern minorities’ twenties and forties due to their delicate facial features with deeper facial contour. That’s why Lu Sen would think that the man did not get any changes on his facial characters. After all, this ancient place wasn’t a world of fantasy, immortality was just a dream.

Lu Sen thought about it carefully and realized that Song Qinghan’s words did make sense. He relaxed and said embarrassedly, “I see, I thought I’d seen a ghost…”
