Chapter 2: I’ve Become Yu Chu!

BANG!

The bathroom door was abruptly thrown open, and Ning Cheng hadn’t recovered from the intense shock of his transmigration, he only subconsciously held the stainless steel shower head to his chest.

The young man who had followed him from the coast stood in the doorway, his eyebrows furrowed, his left hand held in a pushing position, and a gun raised in his right. He scanned the bathroom sharply to make sure no one else was there before looking at Ning Cheng and sizing him up from head to toe. He was neatly dressed, and there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary with his body, so his tensed expression slightly relaxed, and the gun was returned to his waistband.

Ning Cheng was still holding that showerhead; finger knuckles gripped so hard that they were turning white, his lips also faded of all blood, and were slightly trembling.

The young man paused, extended his right hand to him, and said in a low but emotionless voice, “Mr. Yu, it’s all right now.”

After a few seconds of silence, Ning Cheng’s eyes slowly turned away, like a wax statue that finally had a soul. He stared at the hand in front of him and asked, lost in thought, “Who are you?”

Just as the words left his mouth, his sanity flew back, and realizing that the two should know each other, he hurriedly remedied the situation. “I suddenly forgot. Maybe… maybe the man outside scared me and I can’t… I can’t remember anything.”

He gulped, and with a controlled trembling in his voice, and a pale face, he gave off a completely frightened look.

The man’s expression didn’t change, still holding out his hand to him, his said, “Don’t be afraid, Mr. Yu. I’m Zhou Mu, your bodyguard.”

So he’s Yu Chu’s bodyguard…

Ning Cheng stared at Zhou Mu’s eyes, trying to decipher his thoughts from them, but the dark eyes were too unfathomable, like a deep pool of which the bottom couldn’t be seen, so he couldn’t read the hidden emotions in them. He made a quick choice between fleeing the door and going along with the situation, passing his hand out and resting it on the palm in front of him.

Zhou Mu’s five fingers returned the grip, not too tight but enough to not let the hand slip out. His palm had a layer of coarse, thin calluses with a kind of dry warmth, so Ning Cheng instantly realized that his hands must be icy.

Zhou Mu moved very gently to bring him out and he followed him out of the bathroom.

The two thug-like people in the bedroom were moving Li Wei out of bed, and when they lifted the covers, the crystal object Ning Cheng had stuffed inside fell out and rolled around on the carpet a few times before stopping at Zhou Mu’s feet. Ning Cheng pretended not to see it, but Zhou Mu flicked it with his boot, then turned his eyes away and didn’t ask any questions.

The two thugs, one grabbing the arms, the other the legs, carried the unconscious Li Wei outside. Because their handling was probably too rough, he gave a short cry, and his eyelids fluttered rapidly, looking like he was about to wake up.

Zhou Mu let go of Ning Cheng’s hand and took a big step forward, exerting a palm chop to the back of Li Wei’s neck. After the blow, Li Wei’s head slumped to one side, as he fell into unconsciousness again.

“Second Young Master, this man is a friend of the Eldest Young Master. Should we carry him to his place?” The thug with dyed red hair asked.

Ning Cheng didn’t make a sound, but Zhou Mu indifferently answered, “No. Carry him to Mr. Yu, leave him to him. Pay attention to avoid everyone on the way, don’t let others bump into you.”

“Understood.”

“This motherfucker is too heavy, fuck.”

“What the fuck does this anikmal usually eat?”

The two thugs carried Li Wei, cursing as they left, leaving Zhou Mu and Ning Cheng alone in the quiet room. Ning Cheng licked his lips, which were a bit dry, and was trying pry some information out of him when the other said, “Have a rest, Mr. Yu should see you later.”

Ning Cheng didn’t know how the two usually got along, so he just gave a vague hmm.

Zhou Mu walked out of the room with big strides, his strong and smooth back showing under his T-shirt. When he reached the door, he turned back and said to Ning Cheng, who was still standing in the middle of the room staring at him, “I’ll be at the door.”

“Okay.”

Without saying anything else, Zhou Mu exited and closed the door.

As the door clicked shut, Ning Cheng exhaled slowly, walked over to the couch, and sat down, leaning back in confusion.

What should I do now? Did I really transmigrate? Or is this just a conspiracy against me? Should I go out to the island to investigate?

Ning Cheng mulled over it, then suddenly sat up and looked at the large black screen hanging on the wall in front of him. That thing was called a television, similar to the very old terminal projection if he wasn’t mistaken. It wasn’t able to project anything 3D. There were three remotes of varying sizes on the small table next to the couch, and he tried each one and turned on the TV.

“The city’s Red Maple District successfully created a provincial green park demonstration unit, implementing the chemical industry and island development “Red Maple” drive development strategy…”

“Platoon Leader! The ghosts were secretly assembling last night. It’s a good thing the villagers have withdrawn in advance.”

“Jade Dragon Appliance City, you are always welcome. Please call our service number…”

…

Ning Cheng kept pressing the channel button, and his face was getting worse and worse, finally shutting off the TV and sitting on the sofa in silence. He bowed his upper body, the white back of his neck bone slightly curving, and his spine pulled in a taut line.

A few moments later, two drops of water dripped down the leg of his pants, haloing two minor, dark marks.

Ning Cheng gave himself ten minutes to accept the fact that he had crossed over, and that he had come to a strange world and didn’t know how to get back. He gave himself another ten minutes to accept his new identity. He was no longer Ning Cheng; he was now called Yu Chu, the second son of this Yu family, further information was temporarily not available.

Ning Cheng closed his eyes, breathed heavily and deeply, and whispered in his heart, ‘I must adapt to my new identity. I’ve become Yu Chu. I am Yu Chu!’

He repeated it over and over again until his heart no longer resisted and the name ‘Yu Chu’ smoothly rolled off his tongue.

The door was opened again with the low voice of Zhou Mu, who seemed to be talking to someone, and just as Yu Chu sat up straight, there was a knock on the door, and a maid came in carrying folded sheets.

The maid respectfully called out “Second Master”, then said no more, but quickly cleaned up the messy room, changed the clean sheets, and retreated. When he opened and closed the door, Yu Chu saw Zhou Mu standing in front of the door, leaning his back against the wall, hanging his head, and smoking a cigarette.

The room turned quiet again, Yu Chu lay on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, and when he looked back, he found that the band had stopped playing and the sound of cars driving by could be heard from outside the building.

He stood up and went to the window, lifted a corner of the curtain, and looked down, only to see guests exiting the door and boarding a parked tour bus to leave. At the bottom of the lobby steps stood two people side by side; a smiling young man with glasses and a middle-aged woman in an evening gown, bidding farewell to the guests in a host-like manner.

Yu Chu kept his eyes on the string of lights, watching them fade away, diminishing and disappearing from view.

As he lowered the curtain, his eyes fell on his right hand, and he noticed something odd about the shape of his pinky finger. It was protruding at the joint as if it had once been broken. Spreading out his left hand as well, the pinky was similarly deformed, and next to the other four normal fingers, it looked like twisted branches growing from a long, clean trunk.

Yu Chu had just turned around when the door was pushed open, and Zhou Mu stood there, informing him in a deep voice, “Second Young Master, the master wants you to go to his study.”

Yu Chu hesitated for two seconds before walking towards the door, and Zhou Mu closed the door behind him.

There was no one in the long hallway, and the rooms on both sides were closed, so Yu Chu, not knowing who ‘the master’ was or where the study was, took a few steps on the soft carpet and stopped at the stairway. Behind him, Zhou Mu followed and didn’t open his mouth to urge him. The two just stood right there without saying a word.

A few moments later, Yu Chu took a deep breath and then abruptly turned around as he made a decision. Zhou Mu saw that the handsome face that had no expression before, slowly bloomed with a smile.

This smile started from the eyes; the smile at the bottom of the eyes fanned out, like the ripples on a lake. It reached the corners of his eyes and eyebrows, continuing towards the corner, and with a bit of elegance, finally reached the corners of the mouth, which lightly hooked up an ideal arc. With a light and soft voice, he said, “To be honest, I’m still a little scared, so go ahead of me.”

He had a reputation as a little demon in the original world, conquering both men and women; he was invincible. In addition to his fair skin and face, he also knew how to maximize the advantages of his appearance and knew how to talk with the most alluring tone.

Now that he had become Yu Chu, he had no idea what was going on, and at the moment, it was only clear that the one who had the most contact with him was this bodyguard who was always by his side. The closer he was, the more unstable he was and the more dangerous he would be. The best way was to take him down, make him submit with his heart and soul, and then find a way off of the island when he obtained enough information.

Yu Chu looked askance at the person across from him and felt that he was gazing at him with enough charm, waiting for the person to reveal his deep, demented state. But Zhou Mu still had that blank expression, his eyes half-lidded, looking both indifferent and as if nothing was on his mind.

“You walk in front…” Yu Chu suspected that the light here was too dimly lit, took a step backward, standing under the corridor lamp. He switched to a more suitable angle and slightly raised his chin, exposing his long and slender neckline.

He saw Zhou Mu finally raise his eyelids, and there was a slight change in his stolid expression.

The change was minuscule, just a twitch of the eyelids and the corners of his mouth. If it was anyone else, they wouldn’t notice it, but Yu Chu, who was good at observing micro-expressions, caught this slight difference.

However, Zhou Mu finally made a move, lifting a step past him to walk up the stairs.

Yu Chu kept his posture unmoving, a little confused inside. No one would have reacted like this before when he made this move, not having the stunned expression he had imagined, but a kind of uncanny sense of weirdness.

What the hell was going on here?

His eyes turned to the opposite wall, his gaze halted, his brain crackled, and he finally understood where Zhou Mu’s strange look came from.

There was a decorative crystal panel on the wall, reflecting his appearance like a mirror. The person inside was looking askance with round eyes, as if he was upset with someone. Yu Chu’s eyebrows were very gentle and flat, when he skillfully raised his eyebrows, it was a bit like an inverted eight 1 eight: 八 []/efn_note, and with that fleshy face, he not only looked angry but also like he was making a face.

Damn, where was his charm?! He looked like an imbecile!
