99. An Oddity in a High School (1)

He Zheng had waited at the entrance of the Rosefinch Avenue for ten minutes when that showy and familiar scarlet Lamborghini of Qin Huai instantly swished up from the street over ten meters away and halted before him. The car door slowly opened, revealing Qin Huai who was sitting in the driver’s seat with a distressed face looking a little funny.

But He Zheng knew Qin Huai well. If it were really something big, Qin Huai would have panicked some time ago. Given his facial expression, He Zheng believed that the situation was not dire. As a result, he leisurely bent from the waist and sat into the front passenger seat.

Having narrowly escaped being struck by lightning a while ago and thus not really in the mood for talking, he closed his eyes and waited for Qin Huai to start the car.

In a fit of anger, Qin Huai almost failed to catch his next breath. He was just about to accuse He Zheng of being heartless when his eye fell on his clothes which obviously didn’t fit. Mistakenly believing that He Zheng had just had angry sex and was exhausted, Qin Huai didn’t have the heart to reproach him and just muttered under his breath, “Maybe you should develop some self-control and have less sex in the office. Look how exhausted you ended up.”

He Zheng, who was still suffering from energy depletion, started yawning the moment he sat down, so he failed to make out Qin Huai’s words. “Uh? What did you just say?”

Qin Huai, his bosom friend, hastened to put on a thoughtful face and replied considerately, “Nothing. You may have some rest. I’ll wake you up when we are there!”

Seeing He Zheng was so tired, Qin Huai even deliberately drove at a low speed, but it was not rush hour and the traffic was pretty light, so before long, Qin Huai successfully drove the car to their destination — the First High School of Coastal City.

“Here we are.”

He Zheng gave another yawn and then slowly opened his eyes. Seeing the school gate of the First High School, he was somewhat puzzled. “Why did you take me to a school? What kind of connection could the matter you mentioned possibly have with this place?”

With a distressed face, Qin Huai pointed at the shadows under his eyes and replied, “You see these?”

Qin Huai was very narcissistic and quite into skincare products. In the ordinary course of events, Qin Huai would never allow things like shadows to appear on his face. Seeing the shadows, He Zheng, who had not noticed just now, was amused.

“Oh, did some other girl tell your elder sisters that she’s pregnant with your child so your sisters threatened to have you castrated? Hurry. Drop your pants and let me see if it’s still there!”

“Beat it! You asshole!” Surprisingly, Qin Huai was angry but dissolved into laughter. In a reproachful tone, he observed, “I treat you like my brother but you treat me like rubbish. I’m now in deep trouble but you are sitting here gloating over my misfortune. I get it. You forgot your brother after having a husband, didn’t you?”

He Zheng curled his lip, thinking, ‘Even if I was not married, you wouldn’t drop your pants in front of me either.’

Seeing Qin Huai was really pissed off, He Zheng put his arm around Qin Huai’s shoulders and patted him consolingly. “Come on, we’re still brothers. Tell me exactly what’s going on. Why did you take me to the First High School? You want to relive the good old days when we were students here?”

After He Zheng made this gesture of comfort, Qin Huai felt better and replied, “It’s not me but my little niece… You’ve seen my niece before. She’s a vivacious little girl, but a few days ago, the new teacher in charge of her class lost her mind. You know what? She locked all students in the classroom with a big padlock. Furthermore, she took one of the students somewhere to have a talk and for some reason, the schoolboy died in the classroom, and the teacher ended up locked in a bathroom.”

Originally, He Zheng had thought it would be something frivolous, but after hearing Qin Huai say that his niece was involved in this matter, he couldn’t help but take it more seriously.

“Someone died? Is your niece okay?” Qin Huai had more than one elder sister and several nieces as well, all of whom were vivacious, so He Zheng had no idea which one Qin Huai was referring to.

“She’s fine, just scared.” Qin Huai shook his head, his expression somewhat weird.

He Zheng believed that there was more to it than that. Otherwise Qin Huai wouldn’t have called him here. Having no intention to beat around the bush, he directly queried, “What do you want me to do?”

Qin Huai cautiously flicked He Zheng a glance. After a long silence, he replied, “Actually… the schoolboy that died there was my niece’s boyfriend.”

Compared with their behavior when they had been in high school, puppy love was nothing, so He Zheng was not really surprised.

Qin Huai twisted his head aside to look at He Zheng, a fairly embarrassed expression on his face. “You said that brother-in-law worked for the Supernaturalism Management Bureau (SMB)… Although I have no idea exactly what people of SMB do, I do know your family business has something to do with this kind of psychic stuff, doesn’t it? The spirit of that deceased schoolboy has been pestering my niece, leaving her no peace. My elder sister’s having a tough time and so am I. I thought for quite some time and I think you are my only hope.”

He Zheng asked curiously, “If that’s the case, you should’ve taken me to your home. Why did you bring me to this school?”

“My elder sister is keeping an eye on my niece. It took a lot of doing to calm her down. I think we should leave her alone for the moment. If we can handle the matter in this place, she would definitely return to normal.” Qin Huai flicked He Zheng a glance and pressed down on the gas pedal. “You should take a look at the side entrance.”

The car slowly drove to the side entrance. It was time for class and there was no student going in or out. Theoretically, both the main entrance and the side entrance should be quiet, but at this moment, there were a lot of men in security guard’s uniform confronting a group of people in black.

At the front of the group was a middle-aged woman in a black suit, who seemed to have been taking good care of her health. At this time, the middle-aged woman’s face was ghastly pale and full of deep grief, a vacant look in her eyes.

Those behind her, judging by their outfits, were clearly bodyguards, blocking the gateway. An executive standing on the side, mouth parched and tongue scorched, kept explaining something to them, but after he gesticulated for quite a while, those people still refused to leave.

Tension at the gateway was rapidly reaching flashpoint as the babble of voices of the two confronting groups went louder.

The situation at the side entrance was totally different from that at the quiet main entrance. The side entrance was so noisy that it seemed as if a battle was going to break out.
