86. I’m Partial Towards You (2)

Caught off guard by these honeyed remarks, even He Zheng was thrown into embarrassment.

He Zheng licked his dry lower lip and stepped up to Li Zong. Li Zong, having no intention of guarding against anything, willingly let He Zheng undo the first button of his shirt with his fingers. And then, beneath Li Zong’s indulgent gaze, He Zheng unhesitatingly gave Li Zong’s long fair-skinned neck a hard kiss. He kissed very heavily. His little canine teeth gave Li Zong an intense pain.

An air of intimacy was circulating about the two of them.

After a few moments, feeling that the kiss was long enough, He Zheng released the patch of skin from his lips in satisfaction. Unsurprisingly, a red mark the size of a knuckle of his little finger had been left on Li Zong’s fair-complexioned neck.

“With this stamp on you, I think nobody will dare try taking you from me again.” He Zheng squinted his eyes and rubbed that hickey with his fingers. The love bite as crimson as a blood jade was quite pleasant to the eyes.

Li Zong made no comments on He Zheng’s deed, but the look in his eyes became even deeper. He put his arm around He Zheng’s waist. He Zheng was well-proportioned in figure, his waist narrow, his legs long. Li Zong somewhat indulgently pinched this little guy’s cheeks, as if smoothing the untidy hair of a cat.

“With you beside me, who would dare to do that?” Li Zong chuckled. Beneath his gaze, He Zheng, mouth parched and tongue scorched, loosened his collarband and looked around. Seeing that nobody else was around, he unhesitatingly raised his lips from Li Zong’s neck and pressed them against Li Zong’s lips.

Both of them were somewhat aroused, their breathing growing heavier, but this was not the right time, and neither was it the right place. In the knowledge that they should not do anything beyond the pale, He Zheng released Li Zong’s neck from his hands.

He Zheng came to realize something, coldness glinting in the depths of his eyes. ‘Qiao Peiyu and her precious daughter are indeed of one blood. Even their doings follow the same pattern. He Yu’s subterfuge is no less disgusting than that of her mother. But Li Zong is not He Changchun, and neither I my mother who had been resigned to everything. Qiao Peiyu can never get the best of me with her schemes.’

While walking out of the garden, Li Zong still covered the hickey left by He Zheng with his collar. After all, on an occasion of this kind, letting this flat-chested little guy behave willfully would only reduce him to an unfavorable situation. He Zheng, who had merely done that on a whim, curled his lip but raised no objections.

Since He family was quite famous in the Coastal City, before long, a lot of seats were occupied by guests. Even some who had little acquaintance with He family came to express their condolences.

No matter what, the marriage between that good-for-nothing of He family and Li Zong was a fact, and He family’s having Li Zong as a powerful backer was also a fact.

As expected, seeing Li Zong present on this occasion, those people became more inclined to get more acquainted with He family.

Though it was inappropriate to put it this way, on this sorrowful occasion, except for Qiao Peiyu and her two children, other members of He family walking out of the mourning hall almost seemed to be enjoying themselves with the guests.

By convention, they were supposed to keep vigil beside the coffin, but there weren’t any remains of He Jin left. Besides, it had been several days since his death, so this procedure was ignored. He Zheng felt miserable and distressed in He family. Seeing he was unhappy, Li Zong casually made an excuse and then left with him – although Supt. Li almost always did everything by the book, sometimes, when he decided to do something beyond the pale, nobody dared to stop him.

However, when people saw the affection and concern for He Zheng shown by Li Zong in a natural fashion as they left, all of them came to the realization that the marriage between Supt. Li and the eldest son of He family was not an arranged one, though it was rumored to be. ‘It seems that Li Zong really has feelings for this member of He family,’ they thought.

They were puzzled as to what it was that Li Zong saw in He Zheng, but they didn’t really care. It was now known to all of them that if some day they needed to curry favor with Li Zong, this was yet another alternative method.

Li Zong was a very busy man. He had just walked out of He family when something requiring his presence in SMB came up. He asked He Zheng whether he wanted to go back home or go to SMB with him. He Zheng shook his head and answered that he didn’t want to go home.

‘If I go home, I’d end up staying in the apartment alone. If I stay with Li Zong, we’ll get to kiss and hug, though we can’t do anything more intimate,’ he thought.

Li Zong thought for a few moments and nodded. “As luck would have it, enrollment of the Special Talents Training Program (STTP) starts today. I’ll take you there later so you can enter your name.”

He Zheng replied, “Didn’t Zu Zhichong say that it would start in September?”

“Kid.” Li Zong pinched He Zheng’s cheek. “You only heard half of Zu Zhichong’s words. SMB recruits new members in September, but the entrance examination of STTP is in early May.”

He Zheng had thought that he would have to wait a long time. It had never crossed his mind that it would start so soon, but he felt that this might not be a bad thing. He unnoticeably glanced at Li Zong out of the corner of his eye. ‘The sooner I get in to receive training, the sooner I’ll be able to fight side by side with this man. It’s high time the days when people sneer at me and call me a good-for-nothing came to an end!’ he thought.

The marriage between Li Zong and He Zheng had some time ago come to the knowledge of staff members of SMB. Some of them even knew He Zheng, but they still had a somewhat mixed attitude towards him. After all, Li Zong was such an outstanding man. They subconsciously felt that He Zheng was unworthy of Li Zong… Though their Supt. Li was a gay, there were popular gays and common ones, and Li Zong was unmistakably among the former.

Li Zong had already become a calling card for SMB. Ever since Li Zong took office as a deputy superintendent of SMB and attended a couple of diplomatic activities on behalf of SMB, cutting an up-and-coming figure, the total enrollment in SMB during the past five years had hit yet another record high.

There were even a lot of staff members of SMB paying special regard to Li Zong. It was rumored that so-and-so of SMB liked Supt. Li very much and had gone to a lot of bother to land a job in SMB so as to get close to Li Zong, that she worked very hard and got a distinction every year in order to find favor in Supt. Li’s eyes.

In these people’s eyes, He Zheng was no better than a pig that had ruined an exuberant bok choy.

He Zheng probably would never dream that he’d be compared to a pig.
