251. Bosom Buddies Forever

Translator: Dragon Rider

Chen Qianlin woke up at six o’clock in the morning!

He had not slept at all, to be precise!

Of course, Qiu Luo, his roommate, had everything to do with it.

Before they moved into the room yesterday, Chen Qianlin had thought that they were both men, and that although he felt Qiu Luo had been casting him inexplicable glances quite often, the latter had never accosted him or something. As a result, Chen Qianlin, who was not narcissistic enough to think he was a heart-throb, had believed that he would make things awkward if he was too defensive with Qiu Luo, that he and Qiu Luo could be bosom buddies.

But what had happened the night before made Chen Qianlin change his opinions thoroughly.

Though it had been a tough day, Chen Qianlin had not been sleepy at all, because he had been sharing a room with someone, but he would not be at his best during the contest if he did not sleep well. After telling himself this numerous times, Chen Qianlin had finally managed to get to sleep.

It had happened after he drifted off.

He had had a dream. Having a dream is a normal thing.

In that dream, he had been holding in his arms his toy bear which he had always clung to since childhood. The toy bear had been very soft. Chen Qianlin had rubbed his face against it. ‘Wow. It feels so different today,’ he had thought in his dream.

Chen Qianlin, contented, happily rubbed his face against the toy bear again.

Wait – Chen Qianlin in his dream had finally found that something was not quite right.

Hadn’t he left home to attend the competition? He had not brought his toy bear!

And then, his eyelids had twitched, his eyelashes fluttering. Chen Qianlin had felt that the thing he was hugging was bigger but less soft than his toy bear, that some parts of it was hard.

Chen Qianlin had slowly opened his eyes. Qiu Luo had had dark circles under his eyes, but there had been no impatience in them whatsoever. With a faint smile in his eyes, Qiu Luo had said, “Finally you’re awake. I would have to wake you had you not awoken by yourself.”

In the dim light, the contours of Qiu Luo’s face had appeared exceptionally soft.

“Wh–What happened?” Chen Qianlin had found his voice somewhat tremulous.

“Before I answer your question … ” Qiu Luo had said in a fairly amused tone of voice. “How much longer do you plan to hug me? Um?”

Chen Qianlin had rapidly drawn back his hands as though he had got an electric shock. Then he had instantly knelt on the bed and looked left and right. His own bed had been rather disorderly, and a moment ago he had been lying prostrate on Qiu Luo!

“I–I–I–I–Y–You–” Chen Qianlin had stuttered, a narcissist. He had not even known where he should put his hands. The next second, he had quickly jumped back onto his own bed as though he had springs beneath his feet, and then wrapped his quilt around himself.

“I–You–” Chen Qianlin had stammered, at a complete loss for words.

With a smile in his eyes, Qiu Luo had said, “I was sleeping when someone sleepwalked to my bed, hugged me and kept rubbing his face against me.”

“Me? Sleepwalking?”

Chen Qianlin had been incredulous.

Qiu Luo had said in a faintly hoarse voice. “Let’s go back to sleep. I’m drowsy.”

A warm blush had risen to Chen Qianlin’s ear lobes. “Oh, right. S–Sleep!”

Then he had quickly twisted his head around and exerted himself to calm himself down. However, for him, waking up was easy, but getting back to sleep was difficult, especially after such an interlude. Chen Qianlin had not dared close his eyes, because he had been worried that he might sleepwalk again.

However, was he really a habitual sleepwalker? He shouldn’t be.

And then Chen Qianlin had sneaked a backward glance at Qiu Luo, who had seemed to have fallen asleep. Chen Qianlin, however, had not got to sleep until around five o’clock in the morning. He did not know whether it was a dream or not, but he kept feeling someone kneading his face.

In the hotel lobby.

He Zheng, stretching, walked out of the elevator. He had had a wonderful night. He and Li Zong’s room was not a standard double room but one with a king-size bed and a romantic flavor. The day before, He Zheng had been rather tired, but after dinner, with his belly full, he had not felt like going to sleep right away. On top of that, the room, though prepared for contestants, was equipped with all necessities.

The two of them had had the time, the room and the tools they needed. It would be a shame to not do anything.

As a result, He Zheng had begun to pester Li Zong for sex. Li Zong had relented. Eventually, He Zheng had been so exhausted he had hardly had enough strength to lift a finger. When Li Zong had carried him to the bathroom to have another shower, He Zheng had been half asleep.

His sexual desire satisfied, he naturally felt spirited and comfortable. As a result, He Zheng was in a very good mood this morning.

His bearing showed a sharp contrast with Chen Qianlin’s.

Tao Wujiu smiled, “Lao Chen, did you go to steal things last night? Why are you looking so sleepy?”

Chen Qianlin gave him a dirty look.

Qiu Luo let out a chuckle, preparing to say something.

Chen Qianlin quickly cast Qiu Luo a look and, before the latter could speak, replied aloud, “Last night I couldn’t sleep, because I was not used to sleeping in a strange bed, not because of anything else!”

Chen Qianlin had many strengths, but his EQ was not very high, which was the very reason he had made an enemy of He Zheng at the very beginning. Previously He Zheng had not noticed it, but the more dealings he had with Chen Qianlin, the more strongly he felt that Chen Qianlin was stupid.

Carnotte said, “So something did happen last night.”

Chen Qianlin was pissed off. “Can you guys not gang up against me early in the morning?”

All the others felt terribly wronged. Why did he think they were ganging up against him?

A particularly brawny, maroon-haired man whose height was definitely over 6’5 was standing not far away from them, looking in Chen Qianlin’s direction, pointing Chen Qianlin out to his companions.

After a while, the group of foreigners walked straight towards them.

“I heard that last night you people humiliated my buddy?”

His English was not very pure, tinged with Northern European accent.

Li Zong, who was reading something, rose from his chair at these words, blandly glanced at the man in the front and said in standard British English, “Excuse me. Is there a problem?”

The thickset man twisted his head aside and nodded at a young man beside him who was slightly shorter than him. They communicated in Norwegian for a few moments and eventually the slightly shorter young man shook his head and pointed at Chen Qianlin.

The muscular man roughly swept Li Zong’s hand aside and made straight towards Chen Qianlin. “Hey, you, pal.”

Chen Qianlin immediately recalled that the slightly shorter man was the one who had accosted him in halting Chinese in the corridor the night before! The beefy man marched squarely towards Chen Qianlin.

The lobby manager quickly walked over and made an attempt to smooth things over. “What’s going on, Mr. Jon? Is there anything I can help you with?”

The man addressed as Mr. Jon stared ferociously at the lobby manager. “I’m going to help my buddy get even with this guy. You want to stop me?!”

“Jon,” muttered Li Zong, recalling who this thickset man was. He was a member of the Northern European team. Because of the advantageous climate in Northern Europe, exorcists there were all good at Frost spells. Northern European team had performed pretty well in the exorcism championships in recent years.

This man named Jon was the best attacker in their team, and also one of the most widely known contestants of this year’s exorcism championship.

“What happened exactly? Sir, if you tell me, I promise I’ll do my best to help you settle it. If you insist on resorting to violence, we’ll give you a yellow card as a warning on behalf of the International Exorcism Federation, and you’ll be disqualified from this year’s competition.”

The burly man, as though provoked, instantly grabbed the lobby manager’s collar. The manager was 5’9, but he was bodily lifted off the ground like a vulnerable little quail. The brawny man bore down on the manager and hissed, “This is none of your business, so stay out of it, okay?”

“Let him go!” demanded He Zheng aloud in English.

There were many teams coming downstairs for breakfast. Those walking down the stairs were the team of the Neon Kingdom.

“I was wondering when I would be able to get a chance to greet them. It never crossed my mind I would see them so soon,” a man chuckled on the side, but he showed no inclination to get involved. He just sat there, watching.

A lot of others were looking on as he was.

All these people had some time ago become interested in exorcists of the Republic of Hua who had been the champion team in earlier years. On top of that, now these exorcists were in conflict with those big guys of the Northern European team, so they were all happy to look on.

Moreover … Their eyes rested on Li Zong. That man must be the team leader. In the last few years, it was Zhang or Xiang who had led the team. This man was a total stranger, and he was so young. Was he a newly appointed leader, by any chance?

In the past few years, the national team of the Republic of Hua had not performed very well in exorcism championships, so the coach of the Northern European team, who was still in his room, had forgotten to warn his team that under no circumstances should they mess with the team of the Republic of Hua.

“Where are you from, little runt? How dare you talk to me like that?!” Jon didn’t think any of them was a threat to him, especially He Zheng who had exquisite features.

“What a charming litt–”

Puff.

The sound of a blade going into flesh was heard.

He Zheng was so much shorter than Jon that the latter was totally unprepared when He Zheng thrust his sword at him. Therefore, He Zheng’s sword went straight into Jon’s arm.

He pulled his sword out of Jon’s arm and blood instantly splattered across his face, but he didn’t even blink.

He had struck so fast that it was a few seconds before the onlookers realized what had just happened. Even that man couldn’t help but exclaim, “Holy shit!”

The thickset man let out a roar at the pain and quickly threw a punch at He Zheng, but Qiu Luo and Chen Qianlin had whipped out their swords and pointed them at Jon’s vulnerable main arteries.

“Manager! Manager! They hurt me! Where are you?!” Jon yelled. “Kill me! Kill me if you really have the balls! You wimps, cowards!”

“Okay. As you wish.” He Zheng blinked and impassively gave Tao Wujiu a significant look. Tao Wujiu immediately caught on, conjured a pill out of thin air and accurately sent it into Jon’s wide open mouth. Jon was so agitated he instantly swallowed the pill.

The pill would sooner or later take his life.

“You–! What did you have me swallow?!”

“A poison from the Republic of Hua.” He Zheng smiled a sly smile at him. “Don’t you have a death wish? I promise you’ll die a miserable death after the contest.”

Li Zong had originally planned to make his move. Although as the team leader, he would probably get a yellow card if he did that, those people would soon resort to underhand methods if he did nothing.

It had not crossed his mind that his flat-chested marriage partner would come up with such a brilliant idea.
