This voice gave Liu Lanxue headaches. It had been only a few days since she took charge of this class, in which there were some disobedient and ill-behaved students who took pleasure in crossing her. This boy named Xu Tianhao was one of them. He seemed to be filled with feelings of hostility towards her.

“Okay,” Liu Lanxue replied in a low voice. “Be quiet. Don’t disturb your classmates.”

“Humph.” Xu Tianhao sneered contemptuously. While leaving, he gave his chair a sharp pull, making a harsh grating sound.

Liu Lanxue’s slightly chubby cheeks were covered in a thin layer of sweat. She bit her lower lip and said, “Everybody keeps studying. Try not to be disturbed by external noises.”

“Stupid cunt.” Liu Lanxue heard Xu Tianhao swear at the doorway.

She was consumed with rage but didn’t know what to do. After graduating from a normal university with excellent academic results, she had immediately signed on with this high school and then had directly been assigned to the twelfth grade, so she had no previous experience of dealing with this kind of situation.

Liu Lanxue had no alternative but to give a smile and ignored these swear words uttered by Xu Tianhao.

Soon, ten minutes passed but Xu Tianhao was still not back. Liu Lanxue was a little confused. The restroom was not far away from the classroom. He should have returned some time ago.

Liu Lanxue was just about to exit the classroom when Xu Tianhao walked in. He cast her a provocative smile and said, “You are leaving, Mrs. Liu?”

Hearing this, Liu Lanxue was astonished. It had never crossed her mind that Xu Tianhao would call her Mrs. Liu.

“Ah, ye–yeah. I’m going to the office to check on things.” Liu Lanxue managed to stutter a reply.

“You’d better hurry there and take a look.” Xu Tianhao gave a significant smile.

Liu Lanxue glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that there was less than half an hour before the last self-study session was over. Glad that Xu Tianhao had called her Mrs. Liu, she curved her lips and returned to her office.

“This is weird. I remember closing the door when I left a while ago.” Seeing the half-open door of the office, Liu Lanxue was uncertain for an instant. “Perhaps I forgot to close it.”

She pushed the door open and walked inside. As her eye fell on her desk, her breathing instantly deepened – someone had opened the drawer. Liu Lanxue ran up to the desk and took up her handbag only to find that it was empty. The over 3,000-yuan class fund that she had put into it not long ago was gone.

Liu Lanxue’s breathing went increasingly heavy. Suddenly, she recalled Xu Tianhao’s abnormality in that instant.

After a brief trance, Liu Lanxue quickly turned around and turned on her personal computer.

Her computer was in sleep mode. Previously, when Liu Lanxue had been living in a rented house, she had bought a surveillance camera for security concerns. The camera in this office happened to have broken, so Liu Lanxue, in the knowledge that she would have to collect class fund, had installed her own camera in this office. Now she strongly felt that had been such a wise decision.

Liu Lanxue clicked the play button on the icon of the surveillance video. Unsurprisingly, everything that had happened before the desk had been recorded. She dragged the button on the progress bar of the video player to the approximate time and a familiar figure appeared before the desk on the screen – it was Xu Tianhao!

Xu Tianhao, who probably had never expected that she would install a surveillance camera in the office, swaggeringly pocketed the money, turned around and swept away. He didn’t even bother to deal with the handbag. ‘What an arrogant brat!’

Shaking with rage, Liu Lanxue quickly copied the video, turned around and went to the classroom. The last self-study session was almost over. Liu Lanxue called Xu Tianhao to stop, who was leaving, schoolbag on his back.

“Xu Tianhao, you have to stay for a while.”

Xu Tianhao’s face was full of impatience. “What for?”

“There’s something I need to talk to you about. Others may leave now.”

Xu Tianhao’s girlfriend was surprised. “Hao, I’ve got to take off.”

“Okay. You guys go ahead. I’ll find out what it is that she wants!” Xu Tianhao shot a ferocious glance at this female teacher.

Liu Lanxue was not afraid at all. She was very composed.

Soon, with a commotion on this floor of the teaching building, all students left.

Xu Tianhao swung his leg over a desk, straddling it. “What’s this about?”

In the knowledge that when it came to dealing with a student of this kind, starting the conversation by hurling a question at them would only make things worse, Liu Lanxue managed to keep her temper. “Everybody makes mistakes, Haotian, but nothing does one greater good than correcting his mistakes after realizing them.”

“What the hell is wrong with you? Are you soft in the head? Stop acting like a good Samaritan!”

“Did you just go to my office?” Sweat was oozing out of the bridge of Liu Lanxue’s nose, but she still appeared quite composed.

After hearing her question, Xu Tianhao suddenly gave a smile, a very contemptuous one. “Oh, so this is what it’s all about. I thought it was something else. You’re quite smart, fatty.”

“Xu Tianhao, I’m your teacher! You’re going way too far!”

“Ha ha… You fucking fat bitch. The very sight of you makes me sick. You want to be my teacher? In your dreams.” Xu Tianhao clicked his tongue. “You are just a rookie who’s taking advantage of someone else’s power to throw your weight about, yet you really believe you’re somebody now.”

Liu Lanxue closed her eyes in an effort to control herself. “I think the reason why you harbor such hostile feelings towards me is no more than that I informed your parents.”

Back at the time when she had just been put in charge of this class, an old teacher had given her a hint that Xu Tianhao was troublesome and disobedient, that she should let him be and try not to cross him. However, Liu Lanxue was a people’s teacher, who had just graduated from college and was full of righteous ardor and passion for her work. After hearing the old teacher’s kind advice, she had politely thanked him but secretly disapproved of it.

But unexpectedly, Xu Tianhao had indeed been bearing grudges against her because of this matter.

“Ha, who are you to interfere in my business? You really should reappraise yourself and find out how much weight you actually carry,” Xu Tianhao sneered. “You said that I took your money. Show me the proofs.”

Liu Lanxue fished out her thumb drive. “There’s a surveillance camera in my computer. Everything you did in there was filmed.”

For an instant Xu Tianhao was indeed dumbfounded but with that he burst into an even louder laughter. “Ha ha… Then take it to the principal. You think anybody will give a damn? Stupid cunt!”

After saying this, he even jumped off the desk and roughly slapped Liu Lanxue across the face. Liu Lanxue was also dumbfounded. And then Xu Tianhao tried to snatch her thumb drive. During the process, a button on Xu Tianhao’s school uniform was torn off, which sent him into a shameful rage. “You are toast!” he thundered.

And then Xu Tianhao stormed out of the classroom.
