Mo Xian has been unconsciously interested in various practices since he practiced. During the conversation, he intentionally leaned in this direction, and Daoxuan also knew what he meant.

However, what Mo Xian didn't know was that Buddhism is different from Taoism, except for supernatural powers, but the basic practice is universal.

In this regard, I have to say that Buddhism is better than Taoism, because Taoism is quiet and inaction, and the attitude of ordinary practitioners towards people is to let nature take its course, but Buddhism is different. Every sect is desperately preaching, and I wish everyone in the world believed in it. Buddha.

Therefore, Mo Xian's asking for advice was in the hands of Daoxuan.

He said: "In Buddhism, based on sitting meditation, it is divided into secular Chan and transcendental Chan. Secular Chan also includes Four Chans and Four Formless Concentrations. These two are what the world calls Four Chans and Eight Concentrations and Four Immeasurable Minds. Contemplation, sixteen special victories, enlightenment Zen, supernatural power Zen, etc. Transcendental Chan includes nine thoughts, eight thoughts, ten thoughts, eight backs, eight victorious places, eleven all places, nine stages of concentration, lion speedy samadhi, Beyond samadhi, etc., there are other ways of meditation."

Mo Xian clicked his tongue and said, "There are so many Zen methods, what's the standard?"

Mo Xian's words also attracted the attention of other people. Yu Wuchun said: "I often hear people talking about the Four Chans and Eight Concentrations in Buddhism. My way is based on nothing."

"The almsgiver's words are correct. My Buddhism regards emptiness as the sect, so you don't need to talk about it." Daoxuan said.

"Monk, what do you mean?" Liu Changsheng was upset.

"Your Taoist sect was created by Pacceka Buddha Lao Tzu. Lao Tzu can still use nothingness as the foundation, and the younger generations have fallen into illusion and use Qi as the foundation." The little monk Daozhen said.

According to Buddhism, before the world-honored Sakyamuni came to the world, five hundred sages were born in the east. In the era of no Buddha, they realized the Dharma. one.

"Nonsense. In Buddhism, my Taoist patriarch, Lao Tzu, crossed the quicksand and turned him into a Buddha. He just cultivated his nature and not his destiny. The so-called Nirvana is just the strengthening of Yin and Spirit. How can it be like my Taoist school, which cultivates both life and soul, and is wonderful in both spirit and form." Huangfu Ran said angrily.

"How do you know that golden lotus grows in the sky in my Buddhist school, how do you know the wonderful existence of emptiness." Daozhen was also angry, and his voice became louder.

At this time, Wei Qing and Daoxuan reprimanded at the same time, Wei Qing said: "Taoism and Buddhism are often instigated by good people, you actually believe that kind of nonsense, stir up disputes, and still keep your mouth shut."

Daoxuan said: "Dao is true, keep your mouth shut. The two religions have a long history, and the truth is unknown to you and me. How can you be credible and insult Dao ancestors."

People from both sides had dissatisfaction on their faces. Seeing this look, Mo Xian shook his head in his heart. He didn't care about the rivalry between the two religions at all. He was very simple. Since he was practicing, it didn't matter whether it was Buddhism or Taoism, as long as he could give him strength.

Mo Xian laughed and said, "Only talk about practice, and don't talk about hearsay that we don't know. By the way, fellow Taoists, to what extent have you practiced Zen?"

"My practice has reached the top of the Second Zen Heaven, and Daozhen has reached the high level of the First Zen Heaven. Our Buddhism believes that the world is illusory and spiritual, and divides the world into the desire realm, the form realm and the formless realm, which are called the three realms. , Desire Realm refers to the world we live in, we are at the lowest level, in the Desire Realm, people’s desires are rampant and cannot be purified.” Daoxuan obviously regarded Mo Xian as someone who could be educated and preached.

However, Mo Xian didn't have this kind of thought. He just wanted to understand the difference between Buddha and Taoism, and at the same time, whether he could learn from it in his practice.

"It's an interesting statement." Mo Xian smiled.

"It's not very interesting, but the true truth. This is the realm of meditation. In the world of desire, start with Anpa, that is, counting breaths. After a period of time, don't count the breaths. Instead, follow them. Breathing, following the breath is over, the mind is not wandering, and when the mind is concentrated in tranquility and worrying, it should be defined by desire."

"What will happen after entering the definition of desire?" Seeing that Mo Xian was not affected by the two parties, Wei Sen continued to chat with Dao Xuan. He could see that Dao Xuan seemed to be tempting Mo Xian, his brows were slightly frowned, and his heart moved. interrupted.

When everyone was walking in Woyangbao, Wei Sen was afraid that Mo Xian would be deceived by the monk, so he decided to form a team with the monk and wake up Mo Xian when necessary.

Daoxuan glanced at him with a smile, an inexplicable smile flashed in his eyes, and then said: "When you want to define, you must have the method of holding the body. It is hard to get and easy to lose, and it is lost quickly, so it is also called lightning samadhi, and the realm gradually deepens. If the body and mind are empty and empty, forget the body that wants to be defined, and you will not feel your hands, feet, bed or chair while sitting, just like the void, entering the unreached samadhi."

Mo Xian understands that this kind of samadhi does not depend on one thing, it is completely empty, starting from Anpan (counting breaths), gradually transitions to desire to define, and then enters the unreached samadhi.

Mo Xian fell into deep thought, and asked after a while, "Have you arrived at the first meditation before reaching the ground meditation?"

"That's right, it should be called Chuchantian, but it's a hurdle before reaching the ground. It may happen that the concentration is too bright or too dark, and you fall into a side door." Daoxuan said.

"Why?"

"When the mind is too bright, you can see blue, yellow, red, white, black, etc., the sun, the moon, and stars, or see palaces. After a long time, you can get supernatural powers. However, supernatural powers exist, but you have fallen into evil concentration. If it is too dark, you will be unconscious and fall into a state like a deep sleep. .” Daoxuan said.

Mo Xian frowned. The situation he mentioned seemed to be the situation he encountered while practicing Huang Ting Dao. Could it be that Huang Ting Dao is the evil concentration he said?

After thinking about it again, the situation is still different. That kind of situation appeared very late, and Mo Xian has not yet appeared. Besides, I have never heard of fetal breath appearing during meditation. Even if it did appear, it must have occurred after the first meditation. It seems that the two The focus is different.

Since the appearance of the unreached concentration, he began to enter the first dhyana world, and from the depth of the unreached ground concentration, his thinking rose to the first dhyana heaven. Mo Xian understood, Daoxuan said so, the form realm and the formless realm are only the realm of meditation, and Buddhists think it is real, so they say the world is illusory.

Entering the realm of the first meditation from six heavens in the world of desire, but entering the realm of form for 22 days, of which the twelve heavens of the first meditation are the Brahma body heaven, the Brahma auxiliary heaven, the Brahma gods, the great Brahma heaven, the light heaven, the little light heaven, and the immeasurable light heaven. , Light Sound Heaven, Pure Heaven, Shaojing Heaven, Infinite Pure Heaven, and Universal Pure Heaven represent a state, which can be roughly divided into three realms, namely, Brahma Heaven, Light Heaven, and Pure Heaven, which are collectively called the first three days of meditation. Divided into four small realms.

The four heavens of Guangtian are the second dhyana heavens, namely Guangtian (heaven of strict decoration), Shaoguangtian (heaven of small decoration), Wuliangguangtian (heaven of immeasurable decoration), and Guangguotian (heaven of strict decoration of fruits); The heaven of no thought, the heaven of no vexation, and the heaven of no vexation are the third dhyana heaven, and the heaven of good seeing, good manifestation, and ultimate form is the fourth dhyana heaven.

After that, there are four days of the formless realm, which is the category of the four formless samadhis.

Mo Xian came here to understand the practice of the Four Chans and Eight Concentrations in more detail. It is not impossible for him to abandon the way of Huang Ting and practice Zen, but there seems to be a fundamental difference between the two. , For example, the first day of the three days of the first meditation, that is, the Brahma body heaven, the Brahma auxiliary heaven, the Brahma public heaven, and the great Brahma heaven.

These four days are the process of practicing the first meditation of the fourth meditation to obtain the purification of karma.

The Brahma body and heaven, free from desire, evil, and unkind thoughts, can live in the body;
The Brahma assists the heavens, chooses the law with the intention of avoiding desire, evil, and unkindness, and reduces the number of evil deeds;
Brahma gods, choose the law for all evil deeds;
Great Brahma, you don't need to choose the law and don't do evil deeds, so you can get the purification of karma.

In a word, they are basically spiritual processes, in which matter is reduced and spirit is increased.

In the "Huang Ting Jing", although thinking is the main thing, Mo Xian has not yet entered this level. Although he has reached the level of fetal breath in the state of tranquility and can see the beginning of inner light, he has not yet entered into it. Think of the gods.

Mo Xian was thinking about the difference between Buddhism and Taoism. As he pondered, Dao Xuan smiled, but Wei Sen secretly worried: "Mo Xian, your practice is based on Taoism, don't forget the Tao!"

A word to wake up the dreamer, don’t forget the Dao, everything in the world is the embodiment of Dao, this is Mo Xian’s reading countless Taoist classics in the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, and comparing it with other religions, but Daoism is the foundation of the universe.

"I understand that the Buddha regards emptiness as the principle, and the Tao takes nothingness as its foundation. Being is born from nothingness. It is divided into two yin and yang and two appearances, and then generates four images and eight trigrams. Therefore, Taoism regards qi as the root of everything, and qi gathers to appear in the world. Dispersion returns to formlessness, life and death, the gathering and dispersing of qi, the world is nothing but qi, which turns into nothingness and returns to the Tao." Mo Xian laughed loudly, he finally understood, the moment he understood, a movement in his body, Mo Xian Unbeknownst to Xian, he has quietly been promoted to the level of Nei Ming.

Daoxuan was taken aback for a moment, he didn't expect that because of him, not only did Mo Xian not turn to Buddha, but he took a step further on the road of Taoism.

"Thank you, brother." Mo Xian smiled and saluted.

Wei Sen was also puzzled, what did Mo Xian realize?
Mo Xian turned around and bowed to Daoxuan: "Thank you, fellow Daoist, for taking the trouble to let me understand the difference and connection between meditation and my practice."

"The benefactor can get something, and Daoxuan is also happy for the benefactor. There is nothing but Buddhism in the world. Didn't the "Tao Te Ching" say that the strong is called Tao, but the name is different, but the essence is the same." Dao Xuan said beautifully, but also in his heart I'm curious as to what Mo Xian wanted to understand.

In fact, Mo Xian figured out the nature of the world. The Buddha regarded the world as illusory, and Tao is the foundation of the world. To put it bluntly, the world at his current level is derived from the innate qi, what will happen in the future, as long as he does not die and his practice grows, maybe his point of view will change.

This is Tao, which changes at any time and is in motion, but only motion remains unchanged.
