Chapter 548

Chapter 547

"Oh?" The old man raised his eyebrows when he heard the words, and said, "Master, if you lie, the consequences will be very serious."

"Amitabha, monks don't tell lies, the poor monk is Xuanzang, and the dharma name is given by the master of Jinshan Temple."

Xuanzang said with neither joy nor sadness on his face.

"Okay!" The old man laughed when he heard the words, and said, "Since you are Master Xuanzang, are you willing to leave with the old man?"

"You are such an eminent monk, living in this place is too demeaning, and it is not in line with His Majesty's intention of worshiping Buddha!"

The old man looked at Xuanzang and immediately knew that Xuanzang was a real monk. Whether he was the real Xuanzang or not, his state and expression couldn't be faked.

Xuanzang clasped his hands together and asked, "Where are you going if you dare to be a benefactor?"

"Master Xuanzang, naturally, he is going to the place where the master should go." The old man looked at Xuanzang and said, "In Chang'an City, there are two big temples, one is Hongyuan Temple and the other is Small Foshan Temple."

"Among them, the Little Foshan Temple is famous for its Dharma meetings, while the Hongyuan Temple is famous for its monks' Dharma."

"Master Xuanzang, where do you want to go?"

Xuanzang clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha, poor monk, I don't want to go anywhere."

"After today, the poor monk will leave Chang'an, and will not come back in the future."

"Huh?" The old man was immediately taken aback when he heard the words.

You must know that these two temples in Chang'an are gathering places for monks throughout the Tang Dynasty, and a large number of eminent monks who are proficient in Buddhism gather here.

Some wandering monks, even after trekking for several years and suffering all kinds of hardships, must enter these two temples to listen to Buddhist teachings and principles.

The monk in front of him was interesting, he didn't seem to have any interest in the two temples, even if he asked him to choose, he didn't have any intention of choosing.

"Mage, what do you mean?"

Displeasure was evident on the old man's face, and he looked at Xuanzang with a slight frown.

At this moment, Xuanzang hadn't said anything yet, but the boss at the side couldn't take it anymore, and immediately whispered in Xuanzang's ear: "Master, do you know who he is!"

"This one, but the celebrity in front of His Majesty today, Zhenyanghou!"

"If you don't listen to this nobleman's wishes, it may be impossible for the mage to leave Chang'an."

"If the mage doesn't go, even my small shop will be affected!"

Xuanzang took a deep breath when he heard the words, and his colleague quickly recited the Buddhist scriptures in his heart, quickly suppressing the emotions that had just evaporated in his heart.

After a few breaths, Xuanzang raised his head, looked at the old man in front of him, and said softly, "Almsgiver, this Chang'an Temple may not have the Buddhist principles that Xuanzang pursues."

"Xuanzang became a monk since he was young, read all the scriptures, traveled all over the world, and traveled all over the Tang Dynasty, but he couldn't get rid of the doubts in his heart."

"And entering Chang'an, the doubts in my heart not only did not deepen, but deepened."

"Dare to ask the benefactor, if Xuanzang goes to other temples, may he solve this confusion?"

The old man was taken aback immediately when he heard this.

He didn't expect Xuanzang to answer him like that.

As a celebrity in front of His Majesty today, as a high-ranking official in Chang'an, no one dared to speak like this in front of him, including the monks in those monasteries.

Whether it's the host or the eminent monk, whoever sees him will call him Zhenyang Hou disrespectfully?
But here with this monk, he actually asked himself a question.

Zhenyanghou looked at Xuanzang, just smiled slightly, and then asked: "Then dare to ask Master, what is the confusion in your heart?",

Xuanzang looked at Zhenyang Hou, his eyes did not dodge the slightest bit, his eyes were firm, and he asked softly: "The poor monk is puzzled. According to Buddhism, all living beings are equal, but in Chang'an, all living beings are not equal."

"Not only in Chang'an, but in the entire Tang Dynasty, and even in the entire Eastern Land, all living beings are not equal."

"Dare to be a benefactor, you are the Marquis of Zhenyang, if my monk provokes Marquis Zhenyang, will I be brought to justice?"

"If my monk doesn't leave with Zhenyang Hou, will Zhenyang Hou tell the inn what to do?"

"When Zhenyang Hou got angry, many people were injured, and they might even lose their livelihood."

"And just a few days ago, in front of this gate, a beggar was hit by a horse and died."

"The government came, but no one asked about it."

"The poor monk would like to ask, is the life of others more important than Zhenyanghou's anger?"

"The poor monk would like to ask, in this world, is there a Buddha who said that all living beings are equal?"

"The poor monk would like to ask, in Chang'an, the Buddha is so respected, is it the Buddha that is respected, or the greed in people's hearts?"

"It doesn't make any sense for me, Xuanzang, to be here in such a place."

After Xuanzang finished speaking, Hou Zhenyang standing opposite him was stunned, and the innkeeper standing behind him turned pale.

Xuanzang knew everything, and he also knew that after he said these words, Zhenyang Hou on the opposite side would probably get angry, and he would probably bring him to justice, or even let him be killed.

But Xuanzang didn't care about these.

These things have been held back in his heart for too long.

In Xuanzang's thinking, all of this seems extremely unreasonable, very unreasonable, completely unreasonable.

The mysterious world and states described in Buddhist scriptures simply do not exist in this world.

What Xuanzang wanted to find was the way to realize the world in the Buddhist scriptures.

But after countless days and nights of thinking and traveling, what I choose to get is a deeper abyss and an even more inexplicable status quo.

Chang'an of the Tang Dynasty, the capital of the victorious dynasty, rushed to Buddhism, and almost every commoner could speak a sentence or two from the Buddhist scriptures.

But what's the use?

Seeing other people shed blood, not only did no one save them, but they plotted for that person's money.

Seeing dignitaries, no matter who they are, their expressions and emotions will change.

The only pursuit in the world is profit. Who really pursues the Dharma?

Whether it is the Hongyuan Temple in Chang'an or the Little Foshan Temple, they are actually the same.

Those monks who trek through mountains and rivers, after arriving at these two temples, are they really here to practice more advanced Dharma?

Now, that may not be the case.

Buddhism is just a means for them to make money, it's just a tool for them to cover up their inner filth!

"Monk... you are really... so courageous." Zhenyanghou looked at Xuanzang, but there was no anger on his face.

Perhaps no one had ever told him about this.

Xuanzang's words have in a sense uncovered the scars of the entire Chang'an, and even the scars of the entire Tang Dynasty.

But behind all the peace, there is only mutual indifference and indifference.

The things praised in the Buddhist scriptures are just the truths they talk about, but they can never be realized by themselves.

Ordinary people are like this, and the monks and mages here may also be like this.
